  • This paper proposed efficient manufacturing system using OMM(on-machine measurement) system and OMM operating S/W based 3D modeler. A Developed program connected tool machine with RS232C. It is composed two operating system that touch probe operating and laser displacement sensor operating system. A program for touch probe possible measure considered inspection feature and CAD data. The laser operating program is used inspection for profile. very small hole using installed feature data. This system is applied manufacturing line of mold(cavity, core) also verification of efficiency manufacturing process that production, reduction machining error of each process

High Speed Measurement of Ball Height Data for Ball Grid Arrays (BGA(Ball Grid Array) 높이 데이타의 고속 측정)

  • Recently, Ball Grid Arrays(BGAs) are getting used more frequently for a package type. The connectors on a BGA consist of a large number of small solder balls in a grid shape on its bottom side. However, since balls of BGAs mounted on PCBs are not visible, inspection before mounting them is indispensable. High speed non-contact 3D measurement technologies are necessary far real-time measurement of ball height, the most important inspection item. In this paper, an accurate 3D data acquisition system for BGAs is proposed that can acquire 3D profile at high speed using a 3D smart camera and laser slit ray projection. Some clipping and morphological filtering operations are employed to remove spiky error data, which occur due to reflections from some ball area to camera direction.

  • One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in machining is machining accuracy of the machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric, volumetric errors of the machine tools. This paper suggests the enhancement method of machining accuracy for precision machining of high quality metal reflection mirror or optics lens, etc. In this paper, we study 1) the compensation of linear pitch error with NC controller compensation function using laser interferometer measurement, 2) the method for enhancing the accuracy of NC milling machining by modeling and compensation of volumetric error, 3) the generation of the parabolic face profile. And the method is verified by the parabolic face machining experiment with a vertical three axes NC milling machine. After this study, we will inspect using On-machine measurement and study the repetitive machining by a compensated path

  • This paper presents a straightness measurement system for flat and long workpieces. The measurement system consists of a laser, a CCD camera and processing system, a carrier system with a stylus, and some optical units. The carrier system accompanies the stylus, which displaces and retroreflector along the surface profile. The optical unit is used to optically amplify displacement of the stylus unit. The developed system is applied to a ground surface and a LM guide unit. The experimental results show that the developed system can measure the straightness of flat surface and moving systems.

  • In modern EMS, state estimation is used as a tool for monitoring how the power system operates. A state estimator iteratively calculates the voltage profile of the currently operating power system with voltage, current, and power measurements gathered from the entire system. It is usually assumed that all the measurements are obtained simultaneously. It, however, is not practically possible to maintain the synchronism of the measurements data. Recently, phasor measurements synchronized by satellites are used for the operation of the power systems. This paper describes the state estimator modified to support the processing of synchronized phasor measurements. Synchronized phasor measurements are found to provide synchronism of measurement data and improve the nccuracy/redundancy of the results of running it are presented.

Hardness Analysis of Surface Treated Magnesium Alloy using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (레이저 플라즈마 분광분석법을 이용한 표면처리 된 마그네슘 합금 표면의 경도 분석)

  • The hardness of surface treated magnesium alloy was evaluated using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy. The surface of the specimen was hardened mechanically, and the hardness profiles were measured using a traditional measurement technique. A laser beam was irradiated to generate a plasma, and the peaks of the components of the specimen were analyzed. A wavelength of 333.66 nm and 293.65 nm were selected as the atomic and ionic peaks, respectively. The ratios of the ionic peak to the atomic peak were obtained so as to compare the hardness profile. As the depth increased, the ratio decreased. These results are in good agreement with the previous hardness measurement results. It can be considered that this technique could be applied for remote and time-efficient hardness measurement.

  • This paper presents a study on the system identification of the in-situ output shaft torque measurement system using a non-contacting magneto-elastic torque transducer installed in a vehicle drivline. The frequency response (transfer) function (FRF) analysis is conducted to interpret the dynamic interaction between the output shaft torque and road side excitation due to the road roughness. In order to identify the frequency response function of vehicle driveline system, two power spectral density (PSD) functions of two random signals: the road roughness profile synthesized from the road roughness index equation and the stationary noise torque extracted from the original torque signal, are first estimated. System identification results show that the output torque signal can be affected by the dynamic characteristics of vehicle driveline systems, as well as the road roughness.

  • The present experimental study is focused on the application of multi-point simultaneous measurement by PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) to rotor-stater region within centrifugal turbine pump. Six different kinds of rpm(120, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500) are selected as experimental condition. Optimized cross correlation identification to obtain velocity vectors is implemented with direct calculation of correlation coefficients. Fine optical setup concerned with PIV performance is arranged for the accurate PIV measurement of high-speed complex flow. The instantaneous and time-mean velocity distribution and velocity profile are represented quantitatively at the rotor and stator region.

Measurement of temperature profile using the infrared thermal camera in turbulent stratified liquid flow for estimation of condensation heat transfer coefficients

  • Direct-contact condensation experiments of atmospheric steam and steam/air mixture on subcooled water flowing co-currently in a rectangular channel are carried out uszng an infrared thermal camera system to develop a temperature measurement method. The inframetrics Model 760 Infrared Thermal Imaging Radiometer is used for the measurement of the temperature field of the water film for various flow conditions. The local heat transfer coefficient is calculated using the bulk temperature gradient along the (low direction. It is also found that the temperature profiles can be used to understand the interfacial condensation heat transfer characteristics according to the flow conditions such as noncondensable gas effects, inclination effect, and flow rates.

High Precision Measurement of 3D Profile Using Confocal Differential Heterodyne Interferometer

  • The differential heterodyne interferometer (DHI) is suitable for precise measurement of step height and line width, since its differential configuration can significantly reduce disturbances from the environment [1,2]. Like most phase measuring interferometers, however, the DHI is limited, in that it can obtain only the phase from 0 to 2π, because of the sinusoidal nature of the optical interference involved. Thus, the measurable step height is limited to one quarter of the wavelength of the light source. This study describes a confocal differential heterodyne interferometer (CDHI) for measuring step heights of several micrometers, with a high resolution and line width with high repeatability. The CDHI has a simple structure and rapid measurement speed.
