학령기 자녀가 있는 결혼이민자 여성의 생활만족도 예측 변인 (Predictors of life satisfaction in marriage migrant wives with school-aged children)

  • This study examined the predictors of life satisfaction of marriage migrant wives with school-aged children in South Korea. For this purpose, we draw data from the 2015 National Survey on Multi-cultural Families (NSMF). The target group was marriage migrant wives who were in a first marriage and had school-aged children (N=3,004). We used OLS regression to examine the predictors of the target group's life satisfaction with the SPSS 18.0 program. The results are as follows. First, marriage migrant wives with school-aged children had maintained their marriage for at least 14 years. They were satisfied with their relationships with both their spouses and their children. Also, they were satisfied with their spouse's child care roles. They did not support the multi-cultural policy of assimilation. Their Korean proficiency was slightly higher than the middle level. More than half had jobs and had not attended a parent meeting. Second, although they were satisfied with their everyday lives, their levels of life satisfaction were less than that of migrant wives with children below 5 years of age. Third, all variables explained 38.8% of the life satisfaction experienced by marriage migrant wives with school-aged children. Satisfaction with their spouses, subjective health, satisfaction of spouse's child care role, monthly family income, satisfaction with their children, experience attending a parents meeting, and Korean proficiency were positively associated with the life satisfaction of this target group. The findings of this study are significant because they can provide certain implications for family life education and policy within a multi-cultural society.

ICP/MS를 이용한 축산물의 유해중금속 분석방법 및 숙련도 검증 (Method and proficiency test for analysis of toxic metals in livestock products by ICP/MS)

  • The analytical method of trace toxic metals in livestock products was confirmed and validated through certified reference material (CRM) and the international proficiency tests. There are some difficulties to determine low levels of toxic metals in livestock products because of interferences due to the matrix. The recoveries of CRM (NIST 1577c) ranged from 73.9 to 119% for lead and from 86.4 to 111% for cadmium in bovine liver. The international proficiency tests were carried out with the milk powder and cocoa powder samples including metals provided by Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS$^{(R)}$, UK). The test samples were prepared by microwave digestion using solution of $HNO_3:H_2O_2:H_2O$ (v/v/v = 5 : 2 : 4) and analyzed by ICP/MS. The analytical result of cadmium in milk powder was $121{\mu}g/kg$ with -0.3 of the z-score compared to the assigned value of $131{\mu}g/kg$ by FAPAS$^{(R)}$. The analytical results of lead and cadmium in cocoa powder were $29.2{\mu}g/kg$ and $97.6{\mu}g/kg$, respectively, which satisfied the assigned values of $34.2{\mu}g/kg$ for lead and $126{\mu}g/kg$ for cadmium by FAPAS$^{(R)}$. It is verified that the analytical method is accurate and reliable to determine trace lead and cadmium in livestock products by microwave digestion and ICP/MS.

건설기능인력의 업무환경 및 생산성 분석을 통한 기능인력의 효율적인 관리방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effective Management Methods of Craftsmen through Job Environment and Productivity Analysis of Construction Craft Workers)

  • Construction work is a labor-intensive industry, which is required systematic production activities using materials, manpower, and equipment. Among them, manpower resources play a very important role in achieving efficiently production in the organization. Construction work is highly dependent on construction craft workers, and the level of proficiency can be directly related to the construction productivity and quality. However, a rapidly aging construction craft workers in Korea, is being replaced by a foreign construction craft workers because of advoidance of new laborers in the construction site. In the future, if the continuous development and management of construction manpower is not made properly, it may be lead to adverse effects such as setbacks in production, delayed completion, faulty construction, industrial disasters, and decreased productivity in construction site. In this study, it was proposed four important factors for work capacity management of construction craft workers. These were ensuring of physical strength through the health management of construction craft workers, securing of proficiency through career management, ensuring of productivity through work capacity and establing of informatization through work capacity management. By introducing a systematic system, it is possible to improve construction craft workers' professionalism, enhancing the level of welfare, reflecting the realities of labor costs, increasing the quantitative and qualitative levels of construction craft workers, Futhermore it was demanded the continued interest and policy support for the realization of effective management of construction craft workers.

맞춤형 영어 교육을 지원하기 위한 콘텐츠 기반 분석 기법 (Analysis technique to support personalized English education based on contents)

  • 인터넷 기술과 모바일 등의 기기 발전으로 교육환경도 전통적이고 수동적인 방식에서 학습자 중심의 능동적인 방식으로 변화하고 있다. 이에 따라 학습자 개개인의 수준별 맞춤 교육의 역할도 커지고 있으며, 이에는 개별 학습자의 프로파일 구축이 중요하다. 기존의 ICT 기반 맞춤형 영어 교육의 다수는 어휘에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 학습 콘텐츠에 대한 분석에 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 보다 정밀하게 사용자의 학습상태를 정의하기 위하여 단어와 문법을 대상으로 학습 상태를 구축하였다. 그리고 학습자가 특정 콘텐츠에 얼마나 익숙한지를 알려주는 콘텐츠에 대한 숙련도 메트릭을 정의하였다. 이후 실제 영문 에세이 데이터를 기반으로 사전학습을 통하여 사용자들의 숙련도를 결정하고, 시뮬레이션을 통하여 평가 에세이 데이터에 대하여 적용성이 있음을 보였다. 또한 본 연구에서 제안한 분석기법은 학습상황에 대하여 통계치나 그래프를 제공하고 학습자 수준에 적합한 학습자료를 생성하는데 필요한 데이터를 제공할 수 있다.

듣기 능력 향상을 위한 효율적 학습 방안: DELF A2 학습자를 대상으로 (Effective Method to Improve the Skills of Listening Comprehension: For Candidate(s) Who Prepare the DELF A2)

  • The purpose of this study is to find methods that allow learners to improve their listening comprehension skills. To do this, we have divided this article into three parts. In the first part, we analyzed studies focus on the skill of listening. In the second part, we are dedicated to the process steps in the study of listening comprehension. In the last part, we tried to demonstrate this by examples according to the difference in levels of learners. More specifically, we applied the questionnaires according to a typological difference. Most teachers recognize the importance of listening to complete the language proficiency of learners. Nevertheless, there are many difficulties in implementing effective methods for improving listening comprehension skills. In addition, there is a strong tendency not to consider listening as an autonomous field, but as a part of oral proficiency. In addition, we can not ignore the importance of the method of application, because it can motivate learners to both concentrate on their studies and to voluntarily participate in the course. In this sense, the Professors and teaching staff can use the examples of DELF to establish concrete goals for the course of listening. It is difficult to confirm that this study is the most effective way with regard to the methodology, but we hope it may be useful to improve the skills of listening comprehension French learners.

Formulaic Language Development in Asian Learners of English: A Comparative Study of Phrase-frames in Written and Oral Production

  • Recent research in usage-based Second Language Acquisition has provided new insights into second language (L2) learners' development of formulaic language (Wulff, 2019). The current study examines the use of phrase-frames, which are recurring sequences of words including one or more variable slots (e.g., it is * that), in written and oral production data from Asian learners of English across four proficiency levels (beginner, low-intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced) and native English speakers. The variability, predictability, and discourse functions of the most frequent 4-word phrase-frames from the written essay and spoken dialogue sub-corpora of the International Corpus Network of Asian Learners of English (ICNALE) were analyzed and then compared across groups and modes. The results revealed that while learners' phrase-frames in writing became more variable and unpredictable as proficiency increased, no clear developmental patterns were found in speaking, although all groups used more fixed and predictable phrase-frames than the reference group. Further, no developmental trajectories in the functions of the most frequent phrase-frames were found in both modes. Additionally, lower-level learners and the reference group used more variable phrase-frames in speaking, whereas advanced-level learners showed more variability in writing. This study contributes to a better understanding of the development of L2 phraseological competence.

한국 예비 대학생의 영어 사용 특성 파악을 위한 대규모 공개 영어 학습자 코퍼스 구축 및 분석 (Compilation of the Yonsei English Learner Corpus (YELC) 2011 and Its Use for Understanding Current Usage of English by Korean Pre-university Students)

  • 최근 영어 학습자 코퍼스(English learner corpus)를 활용하여 다양한 영어 교육 분야에 활용하는 시도가 이뤄지고 있다. 하지만 지금까지 국내에서 개발된 대다수 영어 학습자 코퍼스는 소규모이거나 공개가 되지 않아 공익을 위한 영어 교육 콘텐츠로서의 적절한 역할을 하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 영어 학습자 코퍼스 구축 현황을 살펴보고 대규모 공개 한국인 영어 학습자 코퍼스의 필요성을 논의한다. 또한, 이와 같은 필요성을 바탕으로 1백만 단어 이상으로 만들어진 대규모 공개 한국인 영어 학습자 코퍼스 구축과정과 결과를 분석하여 예비 대학생의 영어사용 특성을 파악하고 이를 영어 교육 개선을 위해 활용할 수 있는 방안을 제안한다.

제 7차 영어과 교육과정의 새로운 교육 방향 (The new direction of the 7th English curriculum)

  • The purposes of the present study were to give the new direction of teaching English based on the 7th English curriculum, and to show some useful insights on English teaching in the 21st century. The 7th English curriculum was developed in two parts: as a required subject and as an elective subject. As a required subject, the English curriculum applies to the third grade of elementary school through to the first grade of high school. The elective subject of the English curriculum applies to the second and third grades of high school. In the 7th curriculum reform, a proficiency-based language program will be applied in the form of intensive and supplementary courses at the same levels irrespective of differences based on students' abilities, schools and regions. Linguistic functions, communicative functions, subject matters are included in the content area in language organization. Limiting the length of sentences is applied at elementary school only and is not applied at higher levels.

Europass and the CEFR: Implications for Language Teaching in Korea

  • Europass was established in 2005 by the European Parliament and the Council of Europe as a single framework for language qualifications and competences, helping citizens to gain accreditation throughout the European Community. In addition, the 1996 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR) provides a common basis for language syllabi, curriculum guidelines, examination, and textbooks in Europe. This framework describes the required knowledge and skills, the cultural context, and the levels of proficiency that learners should achieve. In combination, Europass and the CEFR provide employers and educational institutes with internationally recognized standards. This paper proposes that current trends such as globalization and international mobility require a similar approach to accreditation in Asia. As jobs and workers become independent of national boundaries and restrictions, it becomes necessary to educate students as multilingual world citizens, using standards that are accepted around the world. It is suggested, therefore, that assessment models such as Europass and the CEFR, along with successful language teaching models in Europe and Canada, present opportunities of adaptation for the Korean education system. Finally, rigorous teacher training to internationally recognized levels is recommended, if Korea is to produce a workforce of highly-skilled, plurilingual world citizens.

원유 세균수 검사장비의 정도관리를 위한 표준시료의 개발 및 평가 (Development and evaluation of standard samples for quality control of automated total bacterial counter in raw milk)

  • Standard samples were prepared for this study, and applied for BactoScanTM and BactoCountTM in order for quality control evaluation for total bacterial count in raw milk. Accordingly, the preparation of two lots of standard samples for quality control were lyophilized, which contain Lactobacillus lactis. The standard samples were prepared into three different levels of bacterial counts, those were Low 30,000~40,000, Medium 70,000~90,000, High 150,000~220,000 CFU/mL, respectively. Then, the proficiency tests were performed in total 19 laboratories for measuring total bacterial counts. The total bacterial counts in the standard samples showed 37~42, 82~105, 214~240 CFU/mL in the first lot, and it showed 30~36, 67~75, 131~163 CFU/mL in the second lot in low, medium and high levels, respectively. Based on these results, the absolute values of z-scores of six standard samples in 18 laboratories were ≤2, which means the samples are satisfactory. However, z-score in one laboratory was ≤3, which means the sample is questionable. Using two standard samples, the correlation between BactoScanTM and BactoCountTM was 0.9982, which means the results of total bacterial count measurement of both equipment were equivalent. Therefore, the standard samples manufactured in this study for quality control of total bacterial count using BactoScanTM and BactoCountTM in the raw milk could be applied to proficiency tests.
