After reviewing the background and motivations for using modern computational methods for the design of reinforced concrete structures, an algorithm making use of the object oriented programming language Python and professionally developed finite element software is presented for the sizing and placement of the reinforcement in RC structures. The developed method is then used to design the reinforcement of a deep beam. To validate the design, two identical deep beam specimens were manufactured with the obtained steel, and then tested in the laboratory. It was found that the experimental results corroborated those predicted with the finite element design method.

This study analyzed the visual images covering 'the changes of weather' in elementary science textbooks by 2007 curriculum revision from a perspective of linguistics. The findings showed that there were inclined to increasing in terms of ideational and textual metafunctions. It meant that the informative images were increased and the form of images became more abstractive. It also showed an increase in terms of interpersonal metafunctions. It was interpreted as decreasing the ratios of images inducing epistemological detachments and increasing images help familiarity and involvement between images and readers. These results showed that the visual images of 'the changes of weather' in 2007 revised elementary science textbook were professionally, technical, and abstractive in terms of the contents and formality. And these trends of images were complemented by the involvement and familiarity of images in the aspect of interpersonal metafunctions.

SME's(Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) have limited resources to build information systems on their own. They do not have effective information systems and not utilize e-business technology enough. The government thus have provided various supports for SME's IT developments. However, those supports do not seem so effective that SME's can operate appropriate information systems and do e-business well. The objective of this study is to develop conceptual policies for the government. We suggest an integrated government support which consists of three core stratigies: one-stop service center, outsourcing of public service, and triggering strategy. In order for the government support to be effective, the government should serve SME's needs continuously and professionally.

Sound pressure level, subglottic air pressure, vital capacity, adduction/abduction rate, and phonatory efficiency were measured in 19 opera singers, 17 Korean traditional 'Pansori' singers, and 20 non-singers; subjects' mean age was 25.9(SD=7.2) and the singers had been singing professionally for 5-10 years. One-way ANOVA and Scheff$\w'{e}$ post-hoc analysis were used to analyze aerodynamic data and to identify significant differences among groups. Sound pressure level, peak subglottic air pressure, and phonatory efficiency were found to be significantly different among three groups of the subjects. Differences in aerodynamic properties were discussed for their significance in diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders in professional singers.

Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a common disorder; however, sequential, bilateral presentation of the disease is rarer than unilateral presentation. Clinical otologists usually focus on treating the side with impaired hearing when patients first present with unilateral SSNHL, and therefore, may not warn patients of the possibility of subsequent hearing impairment in the contralateral ear. Furthermore, it is professionally discouraging when a patient presents with profound, sequential SSNHL after initial treatment. This may adversely impact the doctor-patient relationship, even if the patient is offered the best possible care from their first visit. Herein, we report the case of a patient with profound, idiopathic, bilateral SSNHL with a time interval of 37 days between involvement of both ears. Even though high-dose steroids were administered intraorally and intratympanically, the patient's hearing was not restored, and the patient eventually required bilateral cochlear implant surgery. Our report demonstrates that sequential, profound, bilateral SSNHL may manifest without any specific signs.

According to the related references, up to now the systematic studies on the ants from Mt. Moak have not been professionally surveyed yet. On order to classify the the ants from Mt. Moak, authors had collected the ants in this area from Octorber, 1993 to June, 1995. Examining all the collections, 44 species of 23 genera of 17 tribes under 3 subfamilies were identified.

As the importance of maritime communication in a cross-cultural onboard working environment grows, the importance of developing systematic supporting aids both for learning and teaching maritime English has been emphasized. Given that English communication proficiency is one of the most critical factors in determining a seafarer's competency, a systemic supporting system for enhancing maritime English communication capabilities is essential not only for them to professionally carry out and conduct assigned duties onboard, but also for them to navigate success in their lives through increased labour mobility both at sea and onshore. The APEC Seafarers Excellence Network initiates the production of Maritime English Communication Packages for seafarers in APEC regions, under the leadership of the Republic of Korea. This paper introduces the design of APEC SEN Maritime English Communication Packages, which include textbooks, audio-lingual materials, online/mobile life-long learning platform and testing aids, ultimately for upand re-skilling of seafarers to increase their employability, mobility and preparedness for the future shipping industry where globalisation is expected to further accelerate.
