  • This study compared the structures and changes of help network between pre-service secondary teachers and pre-journalists who participated in the class related to network analysis to seek ways to activate a professional learning community. For this study, we used Exponential Random Graph Models (ERGM) based on ties as being interdependent and not conventional regression models requiring assumptions of independence between observations. The analysis subjects were 43 pre-service secondary teachers and 29 pre-journalists who responded both early and late in the help network survey. The main results were as follows. First, full models with network structural terms were better than simple models with no structural terms. Second, the effect of transitivity was not statistically significant in the pre-service secondary teachers' network. However, it was statistically significant in the pre-journalists' network. Third, there were effects of reciprocity, indegree popularity, and outdegree activity in the early help network of pre-service secondary teachers. On the contrary, there were only the positive effects of reciprocity and the negative effect of outdegree activity in the late network. Finally, this study demonstrated the possibility in educational fields' application of network structural effects and provided limitations and directions for future research.

  • This study explored elementary school teachers' perspectives on science inquiry teaching. First, an open-ended questionnaire was administered to elicit teachers' experiences of their approach to inquiry teaching. These self-reported approaches revealed three conceptions of teaching for inquiry learning in science: 'science process skills-centered' category focused on observing, classifying, measuring, and fair testing; 'generating scientific questions' category focused on students' question-generating; and 'illustrate concept and/or content' category focused on science content demonstration by making use of experimental procedures to obtain expected results. Second, teachers were asked to place 18 activity cards either close to or further from an 'inquiry-based science classroom' card. The relative distances from the activity card to the central classroom card were measured. The teachers perceived that students' activity of 'designing and implementing appropriate procedures' was the most important in supporting an inquiry-based science classroom. Understanding teachers' views has implications for both the enactment of inquiry teaching in the classroom as well as the uptake of new teaching behaviors during professional development.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the perception of PBL hybrid curriculum of nursing students, using qualitative research conducted through focus group interviews. The data were collected from interviews with 25 nursing students of 4th grade after dividing into 4 groups. The analysis resulted in 6 major categories such as 1) inefficiency of PBL hybrid curriculum, 2) anxiety about learning, 3) dissatisfaction with PBL operation, 4) difficulty in group activity, 5) acceptance of PBL and 6) change and satisfaction. Based on the result, it is suggested that measures should be taken to minimize loss of learning contents in PBL, proportion of course evaluation should be increased to follow original intention of PBL evaluation, and detailed tutor education program should be developed and operated by PBL specialist and professional department.

To achieve the goals of this study, HE curriculum documents from the 1st to the 2015 revision were analyzed and a survey was conducted to identify the middle school students' current status of safety accidents and needs on the HE safety education. The respondents of the survey were the 512 students of one ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Girls' Middle School in Busan. And then, the seven integrated themes were selected, each seven integrated theme-networks were formed, and safety theme-based Home Economics curriculum and learning materials were developed. The results of this study were as the follows. The safety education content has continually been included from the first HE curriculum of 1954 to the 2015 revised HE curriculum. The middle school student respondents highly needed the content of 'the methods to deal with sexual violence and prostitution prevention', 'suicide prevention', and 'bullying net' for the HE safety education. All the 42 items were needed for the HE safety education by the respondents. The safety theme-based HE teaching learning process plans developed finally included the seven integrated themes, which were (1) dietary life safety, (2) adolescents' sex and safety, (3) adolescents' relationships with friends and safety, (4) family life and safety, (5) dwelling life and safety, (6) adolescents' egos and safety, and (7) social environment and safety. Each integrated theme consisted of three to six small themes, which amounted to total 28(for 35 lessons). Each small theme was presented with learning objectives and particular goals. The total 157 learning materials including the Home Economics curriculum were developed, which offered learning objectives and content for each safety theme, total 28 teaching and learning plans(for 35 lessons) were developed, which offered specific instructions for the easy implementation of the curriculum in the classroom, 28 PPTs, 25 film materials, four reading materials, 61 workbooks, 14 activity sheets, 16 evaluation sheets, 3 test sheets, 2 reference materials, and 4 learning material models(the refrigerator model, traffic lights for discussions, food tray model and stickers, and food mileage card). In this study, the safety education themes of 'clothing life and safety', 'conflict and safety', 'professional life and safety', and 'consumer and safety' were not addressed because these theme were not needed highly by the respondents. Therefore, for the further development of the teaching learning process plans for the HE safety education, it is necessary to develop and evaluate the teaching learning process plans to address the themes of 'clothing life and safety', 'conflict and safety', 'professional life and safety', and 'consumer and safety'.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of multicultural mentoring class activities in order to promote the professional growth and critical reflection of student mentors who are undergraduate students from a variety of major. For this purpose, the contents and phenomena of the multicultural mentoring of the mentor - mentee were reported as activity texts, and then seven directions of textuality were applied to explore the direction of multicultural mentoring class activities. As a result, coherence refers to the relationship between the mentor and the mentee for continuing the activities of multicultural mentoring, and cohesiveness refers to the relationship between the mentor and the mentee. It was called the achievement of identity. Intention means that the mentor has an intention or goal for the class before the mentoring activity, and tolerance means that the text produced by the mentor in the multicultural mentoring process is accepted by the mentee. Intentional means that the mentor has intention or goal for the class before the mentoring class activity, and tolerance means having the text as the class activity text when the mentor's text is accepted by the multicultural mentoring class activity process. In the case of informativeness, the information produced by the mentor is less informative when the mentee is predictable and less informative when the predictor is low. In the case of contextuality, contextuality of class activities can be changed according to the physical text situation and the mentee situation in class activity. In case of multicultural mentoring class activity, except for case where mentor creates new class activity text, it is related to the production of class activity texts through mentor learning experiences, peer friends' advice, and education.

  • The school library in Korea, with its short history, has not been fully awared of its importance yet. As a result, most of school libraries in Korea have not been fundtioning as the center of educational activity which is closely connected with learning process and as the place of the extension of classroom, but as the place of storing books. Besides the importance of materials and facilities, the educational function of school libraries can be fully achieved only when each school librarian clearly understands his work and duties, and accomplishes them successfully. This study, which are based on analysis of literature investigations and precedent studies, are summarized as follow: 1. There is an absolute lack of the number of school librarians (or alternative teachers) in comparison to the number which is specified in the regulations of Library Law. 2. There is no a n.0, ppropriate legal foundation for employment of school librarians and library assistants, and of their o n.0, pportunities for promotion. 3. The school library in korea has been stayed so far on its infantile, namely 'the period of material arrangement', in the aspect of the function. 4. The administrative organization of the school library has not gained much recognition of its professional character. And even more the position of the school library today is not enough clear to be stable in the total school system. By solving these factors step, the newly reformed school library in Korea will play a great role in improving her education by the hand of school librarians whose spirits are re-filled with willingness and creativity.
