  • Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) is one of the most successful professional development programs for elementary mathematics teachers in US. This article introduces its theoretical background, research-based framework of addition and subtraction work, and how the program has been disseminated. Carpenter and Fennema started CGI aiming to develop a professional development program that focused on research knowledge of children"s thinking. Their goal was. to bring a significant change in teaching by helping teachers understand how children think mathematically. This 3-year NSF funded project grew to be 11-year long, and a number of publications have reported consistent successful learning and teaching by CGI students and teachers compared to counterparts throughout US. CGI′s success by focusing on improving teachers′ knowledge of children′s thinking offers possible opportunities for teacher educators to re-conceptualize teacher education in Korea.

  • 이 연구는 2007년을 시발점으로 내용교수지식(PCK) 및 수업컨설팅 지원에 관하여 3개년에 걸친 중장기 연구로서, KICE-TLC 고유의 PCK 연구 방법과 PCK에 대한 관점을 정립하고자 하였다. 이와 관련하여 수학 교과의 경우, 일차년도인 2007년도 연구에서는 개정 교육과정에 따른 수학과 PCK의 의미를 탐색하여 수학과 PCK 분석틀을 설정하고 이를 기반으로 다양한 유형의 PCK를 마련하였다. 이차년도인 2008년 연구에서는 중학교 수학 교과의 초임 및 경력교사 각각 3명씩을 대상으로 이들의 수업 사례를 통해 문제점을 도출하고 이에 대한 진단 및 대안을 모색하고자 하였으며, 본 논문에서는 이러한 초임교사를 위한 수업컨설팅(안)을 '학습자 이해'에 관한 지식 측면에 초점을 두어 제시하였다.

경기도 가족계획 요원의 가족계획사업 수행에 필요한 지식이해에 관한 조사연구 (Study on Needed Professional Knowledge and Understanding of Family Planning Workers in Kyonggi-Do, Korea)

  • The Family Planning Program has teen intensively implemented in Korea by the national policy since 1962. However, the desired effective results were not fully obtained by many reasons such as the shortage of qualified workers, lack of eligible women's cooperation and understanding of the importance of family planning etc., The field family planning workers is classified into two categories along the governmental personnel order; the senior field worker and the assistant field worker. The former is qualified licensed nurse and the latter same as the former of a certified nurses-aid. These family planning worker's roles are somewhat in change not only in field education, distribution of contraceptions, administrating mother's class of assistant field workers but also responsible for the senior field workers such as recording, reporting and keeping statistics. Therefor, the desired success of family planning programming in Korea depends on family planning worker's professional abilities and activities in the field. In aiming to study on professional knowledge of the above two kinds of family planning workers, the following results were obtained through a field survey with question airs done as of October, 1970 in Kyonggi-Do. 1. Working term of the family planning workers in average were less than two years. The younger the assistant Field workers were, the earlier they left job. 2. The assistant field workers selected their job in order to the superficial rather than implementing job itself. 3. Most of the workers either in the health center or in the Up-Myun had a better understanding concerning with their job ; contraceptive methods, maintenance of equipment and drug keeping, and other administrative procedures, etc., 4. They had relatively better understanding and sufficient knowledge about contraception itself and application of it's methods and side effects in detail too, but less knowledges for the care after. 5. It was hard to Find out any differences in administrative knowledge and demographic understanding. 5. It is fully agreed upon that the longer the worker have experienced with the program, the more skilful she applied. 7. The worker who had training whether pre-service or insertive are working more effectively than the untrained. 8. The fundamental demographic knowledge is recommended to obtain for the workers in Kyonggi-Do.

  • 이 연구는 한국교육과정평가원 교수학습개발센터(KICE-TLC)에서 2005년 이래로 수행해 온 교사 전문성 신장 프로그램 개발 연구를 계승한 과제 중의 하나이다. 이 연구는 2007년을 시발점으로 내용교수지식(PCK) 및 수업 컨설팅 지원에 관하여 3개년에 걸친 중장기 연구로서, KICE-TLC 고유의 PCK 연구 방법과 PCK 연구 방법과 PCK에 대한 관점을 정립하고자 하였다. 이와 관련하여 수학 교과의 경우, 일차년도인 2007년도 연구에서는 개정 교육과정에 따른 수학과 PCK의 의미를 탐색하여 수학과 PCK 분석들을 실정하고, 이를 기반으로 다양한 유형의 PCK를 마련하고자 하였다. 이차년도에 해당하는 2008년 연구에서는 수학과 PCK에 초점을 맞춘 수입건설팅을 본격적으로 실행하고 초임교사 수업 컨설팅 연수를 실시하였다. 이는 향후 이러한 실행 결과를 토대로 맞춤형 교사 전문성 발달 프로그램을 초임교사를 대상으로 본격적으로 개발하고자 함이다.

  • 이 연구는 2007년을 시발점으로 내용교수지식(PCK) 및 수업컨설팅 지원에 관하여 한국교육과정평가원 주관하에 3개년에 걸쳐 시행되고 있는 중장기 연구로서, 이차년도인 2008년 연구에서는 내용교수지식(PCK)에 초점을 맞춘 수업컨설팅을 실행하고, 이러한 실행 결과를 토대로 중등 초임교사 지원을 위한 수업컨설팅 방안을 개발하였다. 이를 위하여, 수학 교과의 경우, 중학교 수학 교과의 초임교사 3명을 대상으로 그들의 수업에서 나타날 수 있는 문제점을 살펴보되, 내용교수지식(PCK)을 구성하는 하위 범주별, 즉 수학과 수업목표, 수학 내용 지식, 수학과 교수 방법 및 평가 지식, 수학 학습에 대한 학습자 이해 지식, 수학과 수업 상황에 대한 지식 등으로 분류하여 논의하였다. 이때, 초임 및 경력 교사의 수업관찰 및 면담 자료, 연구 참여 교사를 포함한 교과 전문가 대상의 수업컨설팅 협의회 등을 통해 초임교사 수업의 문제점에 대한 대안을 모색하였다.

학교를 기반으로 한 청소년 우울증 인식개선교육 프로그램의 효과 (Effects of school-based depression awareness education program for adolescent)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of a School-based Depression Awareness Education Program on depression knowledge and help-seeking orientation for adolescent. Methods: The students of two high schools were allocated to the intervention (n=221) or control group (n=223) in this cluster-randomized trial. The school-based depression awareness education was a 3-hour program. The intervention group received pre, post and follow up tests while the control group received pre and follow up tests after two months. Depression knowledge, attitude to friends'depression, and help-seeking for professional assistance was evaluated at each test. Differences in the two month change between the intervention and control groups were analyzed by t-test or chi-square test. Results: There were positive changes in depression knowledge, response to friend's depression, and attitude to professional help-seeking in the post test compared to the pretest among intervention group. Improvement of depression knowledge was greater in the intervention group than in the control group (P=0.011), but there were no significant differences in response to friend's depression (P=0.268) or help-seeking orientation (P=0.263) after two months. Conclusions: School-based Depression Awareness Education resulted in significant positive changes in depression knowledge in high school students, but made no attitudes difference to professional help-seeking.

수학 교사의 전문성 신장 방안 탐색 (The search of the direction for the professional enhancement of mathematics teacher)

  • This study aims to present the necessity of 'mathematics for teacher' and advices for enhancing professionalism of mathematics teacher. Many mathematics teachers don't know formula giving roots of cubic and quartic equation which is presented as a example of mathematics for teacher, but they feel the necessity of professional knowledge like mathematics for teacher. As the role of mathematics teachers changes, professionalism in various fields is required. That is, they must be equipped with the belief and attitude as a professional and understand the content of mathematics for teacher and mathematics education theory. After all, loaming mathematics depends on the quality of mathematics teacher.

Accounting Knowledge as a Contributing Intention on Improving Public Accounting Profession

  • Public accountant profile dominated by over-50-year-old people appears to be alarming. The intention towards this profession had better be fostered immediately; therefore, the predictors to boost the intention need to be known. The study examines the influence of accounting knowledge toward the intention to work as public accountant using the Theory of Planned Behavior approach. A survey of 146 students revealed that there was a significantly positive influence of accounting knowledge toward the intention of becoming public accountant, both directly and indirectly, through the mediation of attitudes and perceived behavioral control. Subjective norms did not function as an appropriate mediation. The findings are expected to contribute to universities and professional accounting bodies. The study urges the accounting educators to redesign and reorganize the curriculum, including a more interesting teaching and learning methods. The professional accounting bodies are expected to cooperate with accounting educators in enhancing the internship program and providing real-case study to instill a positive attitude and assurance toward the students' competence, which, in the end, might spark the intention to work as public accountant. That accounting knowledge positively influences the intention toward public accounting profession through the mediation of perceived behavioral control was statistically supported.

Career Management and Employees Retention in Professional Service Organizations: An Empirical Study from Indonesia

  • The purpose of this study is to see how career management affects employee retention in professional service businesses (PSOs). The role of knowledge and skills as moderating variables in the relationship between career management and intention to stay is also investigated. A review of the literature on career management, which includes promotion, training, mentorship, starting salary, and the laxity-stringency of organizational entry-exit rules, leads to the hypothesis that career management positively affects employees' intentions to stay. Such a positive impact may differ between knowledgeable and skilled employees and their less knowledgeable and skilled counterparts. Cross-sectional data is obtained from 200 professionals working for various PSOs. Stepwise regression is employed to analyze the data. The research found that career management positively affects the intention to stay. The impact of promotion, training and mentorship on the intention to stay is moderated by knowledge and skills. Conversely, knowledge and skills do not moderate the effect of starting salary and the laxity-stringency of organizational entry-exit on intention to stay. The study's findings imply that by implementing effective career management, talented professionals can be retained. However, the level of knowledge and skills should be carefully considered. These findings offer significant insights into human capital management, particularly in PSOs.
