Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-producing strains were isolated from four edible insects and subjected to 16S rRNA sequence analysis. Among the four GABA-producing bacteria, Enterococcus avium JS-N6B4 exhibited the highest GABA-production, while cultivation temperature, initial pH, aerobic condition, and mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) feeding were found to be the key factors affecting GABA production rate. The culture condition was optimized in terms of glucose, yeast extract, and MSG concentrations using response surface methodology (RSM). GABA production up to 16.64 g/l was obtained under the conditions of 7 g/l glucose, 45 g/l yeast extract, and 62 g/l MSG through the optimization of medium composition by RSM. Experimental GABA production was 13.68 g/l, which was close to the predicted value (16.64 g/l) calculated from the analysis of variance, and 2.79-fold higher than the production achieved with basic medium. Therefore, GABA-producing strains may help improve the GABA production in edible insects, and provide a new approach to the use of edible insects as effective food biomaterials.
In this study, the dependency of the behavior of propagating front on the reaction condition in frontal polymerization reaction has been studied. We have used some multifunctional acrylates as a monomer and ammonium persulfate as an initiator for the polymerization reactions. In frontal polymerization, a method of producing polymeric materials via a thermal front that propagates through the unreacted monomer/initiator solution, the behavior of self propagating front shows various dynamic patterns depending on the reaction condition. We have obtained some spin modes of propagating front in the number of 'hot spots' or 'spin heads' by changing the reaction condition. The effect of the reactor tube diameter on the mode of propagating front has also been studied by using some reactor tubes with different size of tube diameter and it has been examined in some detail by adopting an experimental method of two-tubes system.
Surface impedance boundary condition(SIBC) concepts are introduced into the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. Lossy conductors are replaced by surface impedance boundary computations reducing the soluton space and producing significant computational savings. Specifically, a surface impedance boundary condition is developed to reduce a lossy dielectric half-space. Since Maxwell's eqations are solved directly, the reflected and transmitted pulse amplitude demonstrate how the reflection and transmision coefficient determine reflected wave amplitude. In this paper, two implementations of reflection coefficient are presented. One implementation is a standard FDTD technique and the other is a FDTD using surface impedence boundary condition(FDTD-SIBC) that are applicabIe over a very large frequency bandwidth. Particulary, an efficient way to transform the time domain results to frequency domain is presented. Thus, frequency domain results are presented in one dimension and are compared with exact results.

Many suggestions is offered to resolve global warming. Tidal current generation is producing power by switched tidal difference sea water horizontal fluid flow produced by tidal difference using rotor and generator. So, change the angle of inflow condition due to the entrance of efficiency are considered. We therefore investigated three dimensional flow analysis and performance evaluation using commercial ANSYS-CFX code for horizontal axis turbine. Then We also studied three dimensional flow characteristics of a rotating rotor and blade surface streamlines around a rotor. As a result, Cp was highest at TSR 5.5, especially the larger changes in the angle of inflow condition decreased efficiency.
Biodiesels are being explored as a clean energy alternative to regular diesel, which causes pollution. In this study, the optimum conditions for producing biodiesel (BD) by combining beef tallow, an animal waste resource with a high saturated fatty acid content, and corn oil, a vegetable oil with a high unsaturated fatty acid content, were investigated, and the fuel properties were analyzed. Furthermore, Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was used to verify the optimum conditions for producing biodiesel. The influences of control factors, such as the oil blend ratio and methanol to oil molar ratio, on the fatty acid methyl ester and biodiesel production yield were investigated. As a result, the optimum condition for producing blended biodiesel was verified to be tallow to corn oil blend ratio of 7 : 3 (TACO7) and a methanol to oil molar ratio of 14 : 1. Moreover, the interaction between the oil blend ratio and the methanol to oil molar ratio has the most crucial effects on the production of oil blended biodiesel. In conclusion, the analysis results of the fuel properties of TACO7 BD satisfied the BD quality standard, and thus, the viability of BD blended with waste tallow as fuel was verified.
The conversion of a cellulose-producing cell ($Cel^+$) from Gluconacetobacter hansenii PJK (KCTC 10505 BP) to a non-cellulose-producing cell ($Cel^-$) was investigated by measuring the colony forming unit (CFU). This was achieved in a shaking flask with three slanted baffles, which exerted a strong shear stress. The addition of organic acid, such as glutamic acid and acetic acid, induced the conversion of microbial cells from a wild type to $Cel^-$ mutants in a flask culture. The supplementation of $1\%$ ethanol to the medium containing an organic acid depressed the con-version of the microbial cells to $Cel^-$ mutants in a conventional flask without slanted baffles. The addition of ethanol to the medium containing an organic acid; however, accelerated the conversion of microbial cells in the flask with slanted baffles. The $Cel^+$ cells from the agitated culture were not easily converted into $Cel^-$ mutants on the additions of organic acid and ethanol to a flask without Slanted baffles, but some portion of the $Cel^+$ cells were converted to $Cel^-$ mutants in a flask with slanted baffles. The conversion ratio of $Cel^+$ cells to $Cel^-$ mutants was strongly re-lated to the production of bacterial cellulose independently from the cell growth.
The photosynthetic bacteria, Rhodopseudomonas capsulata H161, were grown anaerobically in the Modified Ormerod medium for 5 days. The optimum temperature and pH for growth and carotenoid pigment of the organism were observed at 3$0^{\circ}C$, and around pH 7.4, respectively. The optimum condition of producing the carotenoid pigment, light intensity 5,000 lux. The photosynthetic bacteria, Rhodopseudomonas capsulata H161, produced large amount of carotenoid pigment, which identified to 4 carotenoid components containing; spheroidene, rhodovibrin, spirilloxanthin, lycopene.
A marine bacterium Bacillus cereus ASK202, agarase producing strain, was treated with some mutagenic agents, ultraviolte(UV), 1-methyl-3-nitro-1-nitrosoguanidine(NTG), and ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS), several times for the increasing of the agarase production After mutagen treatment, we isolated one mutant strain treated with NTG showed the highest stability and agarase productivity and named as Bacillus cereus ASK202-N3. This Bacillus cereus ASK202-N3 strain was well grown in the modified marine medium containing 0.5%(w/v) agar, 0.3%(w/v) yeast extract, and 5.0%(w/v) NaCl, and the optimal initial pH, temperature and culture time were 7.8, $25^{\circ}C$ and 32h, respectively. In the optimal culture conditions, the agarase production was increased to 5.3 fold(850units/L) compared to that of the wild type.
Thousand actinomycetes and 50 soil samples were used for the isolation of microorganisms producing yeast cell wall lytic enzymes. Among 493 strains producing large clear zones on autolysed washed yeast (AWY), 117 strains were selected on living yeast cell agar plates. With the method of lytic activity, one strain (St-1702) was selected, which was temporarily identified as Streptomyces eurythermus. The optimal condition for enzyme production of this strain was partially determined as follows: incubation of the strain for 3 days at 30$\circ$C in the medium containing 2% freeze dried yeast cell, 1% glucose, 1% K$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$, 0.01% MgSO$_{4}$'7H$_{2}$O, 0.5% peptone, and 0.2% (NH$_{4}$)$_{2}$CO$_{3}$ with pH 7.0. The protoplast formation of yeast by using the enzyme produced by this strain was compared with commercial enzymes.
Flow forming is an incremental forming process in which rollers are used to form cylindrical parts with repeated turning of both roller and starting material. Both sheet and tube can be used as the starting material. The process is highly useful for producing hollow shaped parts from a tube, with the benefit of the average strain in the final shape being significantly lower than that from a sheet material. In the present study, the flow forming process was studied and optimized for producing a hollow shaped part from seamless steel tube by both experiment and numerical analysis. Upon considering the difficulty of forming seamless steel sheet, the thickness reduction was distributed over several tool paths. In the end, an optimum process condition was attained, and the experiment verified the simulation results.
