Roll Wccentricity Control for Cold Strip Rolling Processes (냉간압연 공정에의 편심제어)

  • A roll eccentricity controller for a tandem cold rolling process is designed to attenuate the outlet thickness deviation due to roll eccentricity. In order to design the controller, the excess stability margin is maximized by solving a standard H.inf. optimization problem under the requirement that ensure disturbance rejection for a class of disturbance. Robust performance of the proposed controller is checked by a computer simulation.

  • Butterfly valves are usually used by the plumbing systems in plant engineering field. Valves are used for controlling the flow rate and pressure of fluid. In order to control the flow rate using butterfly valve, the position control of valve disc should be designed. However, since there are lots of uncertain disturbance in plumbing system, the robust control system should be considered. Therefore, the sliding mode control system using neural network algorithm is proposed in this paper. The proposed control system provides the estimating method using neural network for the unmeasurable disturbance in the plumbing system. The performance of the proposed control system is evaluated through computer simulations.

  • When the process disturbance of nuclear power plant occurred, the operator should ensure plant safety, economy and identify the causes of disturbance. To accomplish these goals, operator should process a large amounts of information. Among these, alarms would be often in the operator's first indication of a plant state change or disturbance. To support limited information processing capability of operator, considerable works are under way to develop advanced alarm processing systems and to evaluate it. However, conventional evaluation method could provide just evaluation results but the design alternatives to enhance alarm system performance. To overcome problems associated with conventional evaluation methods of alarm system, signal detection theory(SDT) was introduced, and it was possible conclude that SDT could not only evaluate system but also suggest design alternatives for performance enhancement.

  • This paper presents a new analytical approach for designing multiloop PI controllers for disturbance rejection in multivariable processes with time delay. The proposed method is based on IMC-PID design approach. To overcome a sluggish load response by dominant pole in the process, the IMC filter is modified to compensate the dominant pole effect. Based on the modified IMC filter, an analytical tuning rule for multiloop PI controller is driven by extending the generalized IMC-PID method for single input/single output (SISO) systems [1] to multi input/multi output (MIMO) systems. Simulation results show that the proposed method gives a satisfactory load performance as well as servo performance in the multiloop system.

  • This paper presents the application of adaptive phase-locked loop (adaptive PLL) technique to control the process variable of the process control system. The adaptive algorithm is related to the error. When the error of the system is changed, the adaptive gain will be directly changed according to the error. If the value of the adaptive gain is large, the value of the error will be large. In this experiment, the reference input is 50% step input. The experimental result in controlling the first order lag process by the adaptive PLL shows that the response of the controlled system has no overshoot, short rise time, and zero steady-state error. The experimental result also shows that when the output disturbance enters to the process control system, the adaptive PLL can maintain the stability of the system and the effect of the output disturbance can also be fast rejected.   • This paper presents a merit of feedforward Dyamic Matrix Control(DMC) for electrolyzer process. The electrolyzer consists of anode part and cathode part that are separated by ion membrane. As the electolyzer process consumes a large amount of electricity, electric power change is inevitable in order to take advantage of the cheaper electricity during night. But the electric power change makes the electrolyzer control difficult because the electric power change affect the dynamics of the process. Feedforward DMC treats the electric power change as a load disturbance and gives the weighting value to the disturbance prediction part in the DMC algorithm. Feedforward DC shows better regulation performance than PID control and feedforward-feedback control for electrolyzer process.

  • The complex interactions of climate, topography, geology, biota and hwnan activities result in the land cover patterns, which are impacted by natural disturbances such as fire, earthquake and flood. Natural disturbances disrupt ecosystem communities and change the physical environment, thereby generating a new landscape. Community ecologists believe that disturbance is critical in determining how diverse ecological systems function. Fires were once a major agent of disturbance in the North American tall grass prairies, African savannas, and Australian bush. The major focus of this research was to develop stochastic model of spatial process of disturbance or spatial events and simulate the process based on the developed model and it was applied to the fire arrival process in the Great Victoria Desert of Australia, where wildfires generate a mosaic of patches of habitat at various stages of post-fire succession. For this research, Landsat Multi-Spectral Scanner(MSS) data covering the period from 1972 to 1994 were utilized. Fire arrival process is characterized as a spatial point pattern irregularly distributed within a region of space. Here, nonhomogeneous planar Poisson process is proposed as a model for the fire arrival process and rejection sampling thinning the homogeneous Poisson process is used for its simulation.

A Study on the Disturbance Effects with Sampling Methods of Soft Clay (연약 점성토의 시료채취방법에 따른 시료교란도의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • We have employed two methods to remove slime at the end of the sampler in clay layers. The first method is a sampling process that harnesses low pressure to clean up the ground around the sampler tip. The second method, in consideration of a disturbed layer, involves a technique of inserting the sampler 50 cm deep into the ground before cleaning up the verge of the sampler by using high pressure. Physical and mechanical properties of these two methods have been compared and analyzed to investigate how different sampling methods affect degree of disturbance. The first method shows little disturbance since the unconfined compression test results in quite greater E$\_$50//q$\_$u/ in the first method than in the second method. On the other hand, the consolidation test results in a slightly greater compression index in the second method than in the first method, when their indexes are compared in the same depth. This suggests that the second method demonstrates less disturbance than the first method does. It is assumed that the second method may reduce disturbance slightly, However, we suspect that choosing any of the two methods would not obtain a considerable difference in sampling.

  • It is presented to extended to an interaction matrix formulation to the problem of system and disturbance identification for a plant that is corrupted by both process and output disturbances. With only an assumed upper bound on the order of the system and an assumed upper bound on the number of disturbance frequencies, it is shown that both the disturbance-free model and disturbance effect can be recovered exactly from disturbance-corrupted input-output data without direct measurement of the periodic disturbances. The rich information returned by the identification can be used by an iterative learning or repetitive control system to eliminate unwanted periodic disturbances. Those can be helped to apply to the multiple dynamic systems for precision quality assurance.
