STEPSTONE: An Intelligent Integration Architecture for Personal Tele-Health

  • STEPSTONE is a joint industry-university project to create open source technology that would enable the scalable, "friction-free" integration of device-based healthcare solutions into enterprise systems using a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Specifically, STEPSTONE defines a first proposal to a Service Oriented Device Architecture (SODA) framework, and provides for initial reference implementations. STEPSTONE also intends to encourage a broad community effort to further develop the framework and its implementations. In this paper, we present SODA, along with two implementation proposals of SODA's device integration. We demonstrate the ease by which SODA was used to develop an end-to-end personal healthcare monitoring system. We also demonstrate the ease by which the STEPSTONE system was extended by other participants - Washington State University - to include additional devices and end user interfaces. We show clearly how SODA and therefore SODA devices make integration almost automatic, replicable, and scalable. This allows telehealth system developers to focus their energy and attention on the system functionality and other important issues, such as usability, privacy, persuasion and outcome assessment studies.

  • 21세기에 들어와 CCTV나 몰래카메라, 사이버공간에서의 감시와 역감시 현상이 높아짐에 따라 국내에서도 감시사회에 대한 우려의 목소리가 높아지고 있다. 이러한 감시체제에 대한 주제는 사회적 이슈거리로 다루어야 함이 마땅하지만, 정부와 기업은 광고를 통하여 당장의 편리함과 안전제공이라는 긍정효과(positive effect)를 크게 부각시키며 파놉티즘(panoptisme) 현상을 더욱 일반화 시키고 있다. 다양한 혜택으로 위장한 광고들로 인하여 현대인들은 실제적으로 감시당하고 있음으로 의식하지 못한 채 자신들의 프라이버시를 유린당하고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로 이 연구는 이러한 디지털 시대에 따른 감시사회 도래에 따른 문제들을 지적함으로써 개인의 프라이버시 침해와 통제사회의 일반화를 경고하기 위한 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.

  • u-헬스케어에서는 무선 센서와 에드혹 네트워크를 통해 사용자의 건강 정보, 응급 정보를 수집, 분석하고 있으며 상호 운용이 가능한 전자 헬스 정보의 기록 및 전송을 위하여 동적인 액세스 제어를 수행하고 있다. 네트워크 시스템을 이용한 u-헬스케어의 경우 상호 운용 가능한 전자 건강 기록과 민감한 환자 의료 정보 전송은 개인 정보 보호 및 보안에 대한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 키 관리 체계를 사용하고 있으나 동적인 액세스 제어에서는 그룹 키 관리가 어려우며 그룹에서 접근 맴버를 추가하거나 삭제할 경우에 매번 그룹 키를 변경해야하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 헬스 케어의 동적 액세스를 수행하는 네트워크 환경에서 헬스 정보 교환을 위한 융합형 키 관리 체계방식을 제안한다.

A Local Feature-Based Robust Approach for Facial Expression Recognition from Depth Video

  • Facial expression recognition (FER) plays a very significant role in computer vision, pattern recognition, and image processing applications such as human computer interaction as it provides sufficient information about emotions of people. For video-based facial expression recognition, depth cameras can be better candidates over RGB cameras as a person's face cannot be easily recognized from distance-based depth videos hence depth cameras also resolve some privacy issues that can arise using RGB faces. A good FER system is very much reliant on the extraction of robust features as well as recognition engine. In this work, an efficient novel approach is proposed to recognize some facial expressions from time-sequential depth videos. First of all, efficient Local Binary Pattern (LBP) features are obtained from the time-sequential depth faces that are further classified by Generalized Discriminant Analysis (GDA) to make the features more robust and finally, the LBP-GDA features are fed into Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) to train and recognize different facial expressions successfully. The depth information-based proposed facial expression recognition approach is compared to the conventional approaches such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Independent Component Analysis (ICA), and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) where the proposed one outperforms others by obtaining better recognition rates.

  • 애드혹 네트워크에서 보안을 제공하는 것은 매우 중요한 요소이다. 특히 역동적인 구조에서는 시스템의 안전을 위해서 개인키를 업데이트해 주는 키 교환 프로토콜이 필수적이다. 그리고 개인의 사생활 보호 문제를 방지하기 위해 각각의 노드의 아이디를 보호하는 것도 필요하다. 하지만 기존의 많은 애드혹 네트워크의 키 교환 프로토콜들은 이러한 보안 문제들을 동시에 고려하지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 익명성을 제공하는 키 교환 프로토콜과 개인키 업데이트 프로토콜을 제안하다. 또한 서로 다른 서비스 영역에서의 키 갱신 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안한 프로토콜들은 여러 공격에 안전하고 서비스를 제공하는 이동 애드혹네트워크에 적합하다.

전자상거래 보험의 시장현황 및 쟁점에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Market Status and Issues of e-Commerce Insurance)

  • Todays, computers in business world are potent facilitators that most companies could not without them, while they are only tools. They offer extremely efficient means of communication, particularly when connected to Internet. What I stress in this article is the risks accompanied by e-commerce rather than the advantages of Internet or e-commerce. The management of e-commerce companies, therefore, should keep in mind that the benefit of e-commerce through the Internet are accompanied by enhanced and new risks, cyber risks or e-commerce risks. For example, companies are exposed to computer system breakdown and business interruption risks owing to traditional and physical risks such as theft and fire etc, computer programming errors and defect softwares and outsider's attack such as hacking and virus. E-commerce companies are also exposed to tort liabilities owing to defamation, the infringement of intellectual property such as copyright, trademark and patent right, negligent misrepresent and breach of confidential information or privacy infringement. In this article, I would like to suggest e-commerce insurance or cyber liability insurance as a means of risk management rather than some technical devices, because there is not technically perfect defence against cyber risks. But e-commerce insurance has some gaps between risks confronted by companies and coverage needed by them, because it is at most 6 or 7 years since it has been introduced to market. Nevertheless, in my opinion, e-commerce insurance has offered the most perfect defence against cyber risks to e-commerce companies up to now.

  • The financial industry recently introduces several issues for utilizing the blockchain technology as the core infrastructure of future finance. Blockchain, first introduced as the underlying technology of Crypto-currencies, Bitcoin is a technology that can ensure the integrity and reliability of data by verifying, recording, and storing data jointly in the network without a central administration organization or a manager. This blockchain has its potential power as a technology for issuing digital currencies, providing transparency, and securing record management, that is expected to be useful in the financial sector. At the same time, considering the characteristics of financial transactions which emphasize privacy, questions are raised about whether a blockchain structure in which information is distributed and shared among participants can be successful. How will we support to implement the potential of the blockchain in order to change the paradigm of the financial industry? How can we manage the side effects of blockchain effectively? Such a policy discussion is necessary. This study introduces the meaning of the blockchain technology, various utilization attempts, and possible problems facing technology from the viewpoint of financial industry, and suggests a policy direction for utilizing this technology as a catalyst to the progress of the financial industry or as a new technology power.

Robust URL Phishing Detection Based on Deep Learning

  • Phishing websites can have devastating effects on governmental, financial, and social services, as well as on individual privacy. Currently, many phishing detection solutions are evaluated using small datasets and, thus, are prone to sampling issues, such as representing legitimate websites by only high-ranking websites, which could make their evaluation less relevant in practice. Phishing detection solutions which depend only on the URL are attractive, as they can be used in limited systems, such as with firewalls. In this paper, we present a URL-only phishing detection solution based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) model. The proposed CNN takes the URL as the input, rather than using predetermined features such as URL length. For training and evaluation, we have collected over two million URLs in a massive URL phishing detection (MUPD) dataset. We split MUPD into training, validation and testing datasets. The proposed CNN achieves approximately 96% accuracy on the testing dataset; this accuracy is achieved with URL schemes (such as HTTP and HTTPS) removed from the URL. Our proposed solution achieved better accuracy compared to an existing state-of-the-art URL-only model on a published dataset. Finally, the results of our experiment suggest keeping the CNN up-to-date for better results in practice.

차량 네트워크 통신용 보안 모듈 (A Security Module for Vehicle Network Communication)

  • 차량 내부에서는 컨트롤러, 센서, 텔레매틱스 단말기, 내비게이션, 오디오 및 비디오 등 다양한 모듈들이 CAN이나 MOST와 같은 차량 네트워크를 통해 연결되어 있다. 게다가, 사용자는 이동 중에 무선 모바일 네트워크를 이용하여 ITS나 인터넷에 접속할 수도 있다. 이러한 네트워크의 다양한 활용은 데이터 해킹, 프라이버시 침해, 위치 추적 등과 같은 많은 보안 문제를 야기하게 된다. 또한, 차량 운영 데이터(센서, 제어 데이터)를 해킹함으로써 차량을 고장 내거나 사고를 유발할 수 있는 가능성도 점차 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CAN이나 MOST와 같은 차량 네트워크에 적용할 수 있는 암호화 기능을 가지는 보안 모듈을 제안한다. 이 보안 모듈은 DES, 3-DES, SEED, ECC 및 RSA와 같은 일반적인 암호화 알고리듬과 전자서명 기능을 제공하게 된다.

  • Drones are more formally known as unmanned aerial vehicles without a human pilot aboard. Its flight is controlled either autonomously by onboard computers or by the remote control of a pilot on the ground. This research aims to analyze market trends and technological developments of drones, use cases and constraints of drones in the cultural industries take advantage of the possibility of future drones. Drones are looking for broadcasting, movie, theater, games, toys drones and racing games in a variety of cultural industry. The biggest problem of drone shall provide penalties for breaches of privacy and security issues in the debate. Drones performances are required such as battery capacity and compactness because of the technical limitations. The drones are expected to be used in various fields such as journalism drone, performance tools, augmented reality games, kidult culture. The drones can create a new cultural industry market such as the combination of robotics and drone journalism, drone crowded theater, utilizing drones character games, racing games etc. In conclusion, drones help reduce manpower, time and costs dramatically and will contribute to creating added value in the cultural industries.
