  • We present the physical properties of KIC 6220497 exhibiting multiperiodic pulsations from the Kepler photometry. The light curve synthesis represents that the eclipsing system is a semi-detached Algol with a mass ratio of q=0.243, an orbital inclination of i=77.3 deg, and a temperature difference of ${\Delta}T=3,372K$, in which the detached primary component fills its Roche lobe by ~87% and is about 1.6 times larger than the lobe-filling secondary. To detect reliable pulsation frequencies, we analyzed separately the Kepler light curve at the interval of an orbital period. Multiple frequency analyses of the eclipse-subtracted light residuals reveal 32 frequencies in the range of $0.75-20.22d^{-1}$ with semi-amplitudes between 0.27 and 4.55 mmag. Among these, four frequencies ($f_1$, $f_2$, $f_5$, $f_7$) may be attributed to pulsation modes, while the other frequencies can be harmonic and combination terms. The pulsation constants of 0.16-0.33 d and the period ratios of $P_{pul}/P_{orb}=0.042-0.089$ indicate that the primary component is a ${\delta}$ Sct pulsating star in p modes and, thus, KIC 6220497 is an oscillating eclipsing Algol (oEA) star. The dominant pulsation period of about 0.1174 d is considerably longer than the values given by the empirical relations between the pulsational and orbital periods. The surface gravity of log $g_1=3.78$ is significantly smaller than those of the other oEA stars with similar orbital periods. The pulsation period and the surface gravity of the pulsating primary demonstrate that KIC 6220497 would be the more evolved EB, compared with normal oEA stars.

  • Joint roughness is combination of primary and secondary roughness. Ordinarily primary roughness is a geostatistical part of a joint surface that has a periodic nature but secondary roughness or unevenness is a statistical part of that which have a random nature. Using roughness generating algorithms is a useful method for evaluation of joint roughness. In this paper after determining geostatistical parameters of the joint profile, were presented two roughness generating algorithms using Mount-Carlo method for evaluation of primary (GJRGAP) and secondary (GJRGAS) roughness. These based on geostatistical parameters (range and sill) and statistical parameters (standard deviation of asperities height, SDH, and standard deviation of asperities angle, SDA) for generation two-dimensional joint roughness profiles. In this study different geostatistical regions were defined depending on the range and SDH. As SDH increases, the height of the generated asperities increases and asperities become sharper and at a specific range (a specific curve) relation between SDH and SDA is linear. As the range in GJRGAP becomes larger (the base of the asperities) the shape of asperities becomes flatter. The results illustrate that joint profiles have larger SDA with increase of SDH and decrease of range. Consequencely increase of SDA leads to joint roughness parameters such Z2, Z3 and RP increases. The results showed that secondary roughness or unevenness has a great influence on roughness values. In general, it can be concluded that the shape and size of asperities are appropriate parameters to approach the field scale from the laboratory scale.

  • Gaudi, Naber & Sackett pointed out that if an event is caused by a lens system containing more than two planets, all planets will affect the central region of the magnification pattern, and thus the existence of the multiple planets can be inferred by detecting additionally deformed anomalies from intensive monitoring of high magnification microlensing events. Unfortunately, this method has important limitations in identifying the existence of multiple planets and determining their parameters (the mass ratio and the instantaneous projected separation) due to the degeneracy of the resulting light curve anomalies from those induced by a single planet and the complexity of multiple planet lensing models. In this paper, we propose a new channel to search for multiple planets via microlensing. The method is based on the fact that the lensing light curve anomalies induced by multiple planets are well approximated by the superposition of those of the single planet systems where the individual planet-primary pairs act as independent lens systems. Then, if the source trajectory passes both of the outer deviation regions induced by the individual planets, one can unambiguously identify the existence of the multiple planets. We illustrate that the probability of successively detecting light curve anomalies induced by two Jovian-mass planets located in the lensing zone through this channel will be substantial. Since the individual anomalies can be well described by much simpler single planet lensing models, the proposed method has an important advantage of allowing one to accurately determine the parameters of the individual planets.

  • A suction-saturation control technique based on flow pump system was developed to investigate hydraulic properties in unsaturated soils. The flow pump system is designed based on the principle of the axis-translation technique and triaxial equipment, and gives the suction-time and suction-saturation curves, the primary relationship needed for interpreting the response of unsaturated soils and link between theory and the material properties in unsaturated soil mechanics. Using the suction-saturation control technique, suction-time relationship and soil-water retention curve (SWRC) during hydraulic hysteresis were investigated with different net confining pressures and porosities. Three types of soils-two sands and a silt were used in this paper. This paper showed the effect of the hysteresis on the SWRC due to different net confining pressures and porosities. This means that a careful decision must be made as to which condition is to be modeled, since the delicate difference of the conditions in physical modeling can cause the different experimental output.

  • This paper presents the methodology to analyze flow duration characteristics and performance prediction technique for small hydro power(SHP) Plants and its application. The flow duration curve can be decided by using monthly rainfall data at the most of the SHP sites with no useful hydrological data. It was proved that the monthly rainfall data can be characterized by using the cumulative density function of Weibull distribution and Thiessen method were adopted to decide flow duration curve at SHP plants. And, the performance prediction technique has been studied and development. One SHP plant was selected and performance characteristics was analyzed by using the developed technique, Primary design specfications such as design flowrate, plant capacity, operational rate and annual electricity production for the SHP plant were estimated, It was found that the methodology developed in this study can be a useful tool to predict the performance of SHP plants and candidate sites in Korea.

  • Pressure-controlled sodium heat pipe furnace was designed and fabricated, and its characteristics was investigated. Pressure control system was controlled within ${\pm}0.5\;Pa$ at 150 kPa and the stability of pressure was decreased to ${\pm}2.5\;Pa$, when the pressure-controlled system connected with the heat pipe. The melting curve of Ag fixed-point realized well by the adiabatic method using the pressure-controlled sodium heat pipe furnace and its accuracy showed ${\pm}2.27\;mK$ from the calculation of 20% to 80% at the plateau. The freezing curve of Ag fixed-point also realized and its plateau value was 2.23 mK lower than that of the melting curve.

  • We observed the transiting exoplanet, TrES-2b, with 1.5m telescope at Maidanak Observatory in Uzbekistan. We observed TrES-2 system for six nights, which contained two orbital periods of the planet. Therefore, we obtained the entire light curve of TrES-2b, which covered not only the whole primary transit containing both ingress and egress part, but also non-transit region. We used both R and Y band filters. Especially, Y filter is used first for transit observation and covers relatively longer wavelength ($1.02{\mu}m$ of center wavelength), to provide the light curve less affected by limb darkening. By fitting best model light curve for the obtained one, we determined these observables, transit depth, transit length, and planet's orbital period, which led to the determination of five physical parameters, stellar radius R*, stellar mass M*, inclination i, semi-major axis a, and planetary radius Rp. We will discuss of these results.

  • We present VRI CCD photometry of W UMa type binary TY UMa. The light curves show that the secondary minimum is deeper than the primary minimum and the maximum I ($0.^{p}25$)is $0.^{m}023$ brighter than the maximum II ($0.^{p}75$). The V light curve has been analyzed and the photometric solutions have been determined by the method of Wilson & Devinney differential correction. We adopted the spot model to explain the asymetric light curve.

  • A three-parameter model of viscoelastic damper which has a non-linear spring as an element is incorporated into an oscillator. The behavior of the damper model shows non-linear hysteresis curves which is qualitatively similar to those of real viscoelastic materials. The motion is governed by get analytic solutions of the system. The frequency-response curves show that multiple solutions co-exist and that the jump phenomena can occur. In addition it is shown that separate solution branch exists and that it can merge with the primary response curve. Saddle-node bifurcation sets explain the occurences of such non-linear phenomena. A direct time intergration of the original equation of motion validifies the use of the harmonic balance method to this sort of problem.
