  • In this paper, we present new signal de-interleaving method for the frequency agility radar in which the carrier frequency is changed irregularly. Generally radar use a fixed carrier frequency, and it is easy for electronic warfare system to de-interleave the radar signal with respect to the frequency, pulse width(PW), and direction of signal arriving(DOA). In frequency agility radar, it is difficult to de-interleave the radar signals according to the carrier frequency because the frequency is changed irregularly. We suggest a good de-interleaving method to identify the frequency agility radar signals in comparison with PRI's of radars. First we calculate pulse repeat Interval(PRI) of radar in linked-list and queue structure and de-interleave the radar signals with PRI, PW, and DOA, then identify the frequency agility radar. When we use the proposed algorism to the frequency agility radar, we have a good de-interleaving results with electronic warfare systems.

  • Radar signal identification of electronic warfare is a technology that recognizes the pulse repetition interval (PRI) from a set of pulse description words (PDWs) generated by the signal receiver. Conventionally batch processing is widely used in which a number of PDWs are collected as a unit and identifies PRI from the batch. In this paper, we propose a feature extraction algorithm based on the streaming process. This technique does not wait to form a batch. Whenever a PDW(Pulse Description Word) is generated from the signal receiver, the streaming process tries to form a cluster of PDWs, and makes the DTOA (Difference of Time of Arrival) histogram, finds out the frame PRI based on the concentration ratio, and decides the number of stagger stages. Experiments proved that the proposed algorithm derives stable recognition results as the cluster size increases.

  • Conventional patterning based on wet-process for multi-layered film is a relatively complex and costly process though it is a necessary step for fabrication of TFT-LCD module. Recently, a direct pattering by laser has been studied because it is low cost and simple process compared to the wet process. In this work, the selective removal process of multi-layered film (polyimide/indium tin oxide/glass) is studied by modeling the thermal and mechanical behavior for multi-layered structure. Especially, the effects of thickness of polyimide layer are examined.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlationship between Pantographic Reproducibility Index(PRI) scores and patterns of mandibular movements by mandibular kinesiograph(MKG) that has been used to diagnose temporomandibular disorders. PRI scores have been measured in normal and symptom groups by tracing Denar mechanical pantograph. Maximum lateral deviation, opening & closing velocity, and clinical rest position of mandibular movements have been analyzed in the same group when the mandible is opened and closed. According to to Helkimo's Dysfunction Index, the students and graduates of College of Dentistry are classified as 6 normal groups and 42 symptom groups. The obtained reslts are as follows : 1. The mean of PRI scores was larger in symptom groups than in normal groups. 2. The mean of maximal laterotrusion in frontal trajectory was larger in symptom groups than in normal groups. 3. There was little significant correlationship observed between PRI scores and patterns of mandibular movements by MKG.

  • The author studied on the effect of TMJ sounds to the patterns and ranges of mandibular border movements in horizontal plane with Pantograph (Denar Corp.). For study, 19 patients with TMJ sounds only and 16 students with no TM disorder were selected and classified as experimental group and control group, respectively. The subject performed right lateral movement, left lateral movement, and forward movement. Each movement were performed 3 times and the movement trajectory obtained with mechanical pantograph were observed for accordance of centric relation position, reproducibility and/or restriction of lateral movement paths, deviation of protrusive path in anterior table, restriction of protrusive condylar movement path in posterior horizontal table, presence of Fisher angle in posterior vertical table. And pantographic reproducibility Index (PRI) were obtained with pantronic by the same movement method as in the mechanical pantograph record. The obtained results were as follows : 1. In experimental group, PRI scores in those who show accordance of centric relation position were 14.4, and were 26.53 in those who did not show accordance of centric relation position. However, the PRI scores of the two subgroups show no statistically significant difference in control group. Therefore, in experimental group, the capability of accordance of centric relation position affected largely the PRI scores than in control group. 2. Deviation of protrusive path was opposite to the affected side in experimental group, and was left side in control group. 3. Restriction side of condylar movement in protrusion was ipsilateral to the deviation side in experimental group, but in control group, restriction side was not related to the deviation side. 4. PRI scores in experimental group were 23.2 (moderate dysfunction category), and in control group, were 17.8 (slight dysfunction category). The PRI scores in control group, however, implies that the evaluation of temporomandibular disorders by the PRI scores only may be unreasonable.

  • An observation and evaluation of the reproducibility of the mandibular movements has been a integral part of a test for mandibular function and dysfunction. After Pantographic Reproducibility Index(PRI) was introduced in dentistry, many authors have used the index for investigation of mandibular movement function, especially in condylar compartment. Howerer, the difficult and time-consuming work of instrumentation for getting the PRI has been a major obstacle in using pantograph. This study was performed to try a new mandibular reproducibility index, so-called BioEGN reproducibility index(BERI), calculated from mandibular trajectory recorded with BioEGN. 26 dental students without any signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders and 22 patients with temporomandibular disorders took part in this study and classed to control group and patients group, respectively. Pantronic and BioEGN were used to record and calculate the indices, PRI and BERI. PRI had only one value, but BERI had two values of outgoing and incoming movement in each scale. With two scales of small and large, as a result, BERI had four values in this study. PRI corresponded to BERI in small scale on outgoing total movements. The data were calculated and analyzed with SAS/stat program and the conclusion of this study were as follows : 1. In every scales, in each movement, BERI on outgoing movement in control group was lower than that in patients group, respectively, but BERI on incoming movement was only different in one side movement, that was, left excursion. 2. The difference between BERI on outgoing movement and BERI on incoming movement was only shown in small scale on total movements, not in each movement, in control group. However, there was generally a positive correlationship between BERI on outgoing movement and BERI on incoming movement in each movement in both groups. 3. Simple statistics of PRI was similar to that of BERI on total movements in small scale, but there was a negative correlation between PRI and BERI on total movements in large sclae only in patients group.

  • The purposes of this study was to identify the magnitude and direction of the effects of Practical Reasoning Instruction (PRI) on students' achievements in Home Economics classes using the meta-analysis method and to examine whether the effects of PRI vary across publication status, study design, year of the studies, school level, gender of students, type of students' achievements, content area, location where the interventions of PRI were conducted, and duration. Thirty-four primary studies with 44 effect sizes were analyzed with calculation method of Becker(1988). A funnel plot method result revealed no publication bias. The results of this meta-analysis are as follows. First, PRI was more effective than traditional instruction on students' achievements. A summary statistic was 0.60 with a standard error of .074, which means that an increase of about two-third of a standard deviation beyond what would be expected from traditional instruction was gained from PRI intervention. Second, categorical and regression analyses were employed to find the sources of variance and moderators that predict the effects of PRI. The moderator analyses revealed no statistically significant effects of publication status, study design, school level, gender of students, type of students' achievements, and duration. Content area, location where the interventions of PRI were revealed to be moderators. It was concluded that PRI was effective in improving students' achievements regardless of publication status, study design, year of the studies, school level, gender of students, type of student achievement, and duration.

  • We consider the problem of scheduling communications in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to ensure battery preservation through the use of the sleeping mode of sensors. We propose a communication protocol for 1-hop WSNs and extend it to multi-hop WSNs through the use of a 1-hop clustering algorithm. We propose to schedule communications in each cluster in a virtual communication ring so as to avoid collisions. Since clusters are cliques, only one sensor can speak or listen in a cluster at a time, and all sensors need to speak in each of their clusters at least once to realize the communication protocol. We model this situation as a mathematical program.
