초기분말의 결정상이 $Al_2O_3$를 소결 조제로한 고온가압 SiC 세라믹스의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Starting Crystallographic Phase on the Mechanical Properties of Hot-Pressed SiC Ceramics)

  • Densification behavior, microstructural evolution, and mechanical properties of hot-pressed specimens using $\beta$-SiC and $\alpha$-SiC powder with Al2O3 additive were studied. Beta-SiC powder was fully densified as 205$0^{\circ}C$, but $\alpha$-SiC powder was at 210$0^{\circ}C$. The maximum flexural strength and the fracture toughness of the specimen hot-pressed using $\beta$-SiC powder were 681 MPa and 6.7 MPa{{{{ SQRT {m } }}, and thosevalues of specimen hot-pressed using $\alpha$-SiC powder were 452 MPa and 4.7 MPa{{{{ SQRT {m } }}, respectively. The strength superiority of specimen hot-pressed using $\beta$-SiC powder was due to the finer grain size, and higher density. The higher toughness of specimen hot-pressed using $\beta$-SiC powder than $\alpha$-SiC powder than $\alpha$-SiC powder was due to the crack deflection mechanism arised from the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between $\alpha$ and $\beta$-SiC phases which were co-existed in the sintered body.

알루미나의 성형밀도가 소성밀도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Pressed Density on Fired Density of Alumina Compacts)

  • 본 논문은 알루미나의 초기 성형밀도가 소결후 소결밀도에 미치는 영향에 대한 것이다. 실험에서는 두가지의 Reactive alumina powder (ALCOA A-16, A-17)를 사용하였으며, 넓은 범위의 성형밀도를 얻기 위하여 낮은 성형압을 가할 수 있는 기계적으로 작동하는 press와, 높은 성형압을 가할 수 있는 유압식 press를 사용하여, 이론밀도의 35%에서 65% 범위의 시편들 (A-16 alumina powder)과 46%에서 66% 범위의 시편들 (A-17 alumina powder)을 준비하였다. 성형밀도를 Log (성형압)에 대해 plot해 A-16과 A-17 alumina powder들에 대한 Compaction mechanism이 추론되었다. 1350, 1450, 155$0^{\circ}C$에서 소결하여 밀도증가량 ($D_T$-$D_P$)을 상대 성형밀도($D_P$/$D_T$) 에 대해 plot해 Ford가 제안한 두 변수 사이의 포물선 관계가 잘 성립 함을 보였다.

파우더와 오일의 배합 비율이 탈크 프리 프레스드 파우더 제형의 안정성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Blending Ratio of Powder and Oil on the Stability of Talc-Free Pressed Powder Formulation)

  • 프레스드 파우더의 주요 안정성 요인으로 경도와 낙하 안정도가 있다. 일반적으로 탈크가 포함된 프레스드 파우더의 경우 경도와 낙하 안정도를 고르게 충족시키며 사용감도 우수하지만 최근 탈크의 석면 이슈로 인해 대체를 원하는 고객들이 늘고 있다. 따라서 안정성을 유지하면서 사용감도 떨어지지 않는 탈크 프리 프레스드 파우더 제형의 개발이 시급하다. 본 연구에서는 탈크 프리 프레스드 파우더를 만들기 위한 최적의 원료 배합 비율을 찾기 위한 실험을 진행하였다. 파우더에 주로 사용되는 원료들의 특성을 확인하고 비율을 변화시켜 실험하여 명도와 경도를 측정하고 낙하 시험을 실시하였다. 천연 마이카 함량이 합성 마이카보다 많거나, 코팅된 실리카 대신 논 코팅 실리카를 사용할 경우 탈크가 포함된 내용물보다 경도와 낙하 안정도는 낮지만 명도는 유사하였다. 반대로 합성 마이카 함량이 천연 마이카 함량과 동일하거나 높을 경우, 코팅된 실리카 함량이 논코팅 실리카 함량과 동일하거나 높은 경우에 탈크가 포함된 내용물의 경도, 낙하 안정도와는 유사하였으나 명도는 낮게 측정되었다. 탈크가 포함된 내용물보다 경도는 높지만 낙하 안정성은 떨어지는 현상도 발견하여 경도와 낙하 안정성의 상관관계에 대해서는 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

Effects of a compaction method for powder compacts on the critical current density of MgB2 bulk superconductors

  • In this study, the effects of the compaction method for (Mg+2B) powders on the apparent density and superconducting properties of $MgB_2$ bulk superconductor were investigated. The raw powders used in this study were nano-sized boron (B) and spherical magnesium (Mg). A batch of a powder mixture of (Mg+2B) was put in a steel mold and uniaxially pressed at 1 ton or 3 tons into pellets. Another batch of the powder mixture was uniaxially pressed at 1 ton and then pressed isostatically at $1800kg/cm^2$ in the water chamber. All pellets were heat-treated at $650^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in flowing argon gas for the formation of $MgB_2$. The apparent density of powder compacts pressed at 3 ton was higher than that at 1 ton. The cold isostatic pressing (CIP) in a water chamber allowed further increase of the apparent density of powder compacts, which influenced the pellet density of the final products ($MgB_2$). The compaction methods (uniaxial pressing and CIP) did not affect the formation of $MgB_2$ and superconducting critical temperature ($T_c$) of $MgB_2$, but affected the critical current density ($J_c$) of $MgB_2$ significantly. The sample with the high apparent density showed high $J_c$ at 5 K and 20 K at applied magnetic fields (0-5 T).

  • An infiltration technique using W-Cu composite powder has been developed to enhance microstructural uniformity of W-Cu pseudo-alloy. W-Cu composite powder, manufactured by reduction from $WO_3$ and CuO powder mixtures, were blended with W powder and then cold iso-statically pressed into a cylindrical bar under 150 MPa. The pressed samples were pre-sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour under hydrogen to make a skeleton structure. This skeleton structure was more homogeneous than that formed by using W and Cu powder mixtures. The skeleton structures were infiltrated with Cu under hydrogen atmosphere. The infiltrated W-Cu pseudo-alloy showed homogeneous microstructure without Cu rich region

급속응고 Al-20 wt% Si 합금분말 압출재의 ECAP (Equal Channel Angular Pressing of Rapidly Solidified Al-20 wt % Si Alloy Powder Extrudates)

  • In this paper processing and mechanical properties of Al-20 wt% Si alloy was studied. A bulk form of Al-20Si alloy was prepared by gas atomizing powders having the powder size of 106-145 ${\mu}m$ and powder extrusion. The powder extrudate was subsequently equal channel angular pressed up to 8 passes in order to refine grain and Si particle. The microstructure of the gas atomized powders, powder extrudates and equal channel angular pressed samples were investigated using a scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction. The mechanical properties of the bulk sample were measured by compressive tests and a micro Victors hardness test. Equal channel angular pressing was found to be effective in matrix grain and Si particle refinement, which enhanced the strength and hardness of the Al-2OSi alloy without deteriorating ductility in the range of experimental strain of 30%.

  • In the make-up product, Eye-shadow products have several purposes of enhancing product quality such as providing the beauty (variation of shape, clean appearance), feeling, continuity and adhesion. In this paper, newly developed wet type back injection press process is introduced so as to increase higher value products which providing various the beauty. The solvent takes an essential role to provide the fluidity of the powder bulk during the pressed-process of wet type pressed product. In this study, the effect of solvent in the oil binder was investigated, And the higher quality condition of the wet type pressed product was built to apply cosmetic preparation. Firstly, the system was designed powder phase as non treated pigment. The oil binder phase is categorized as hydrocarbons(Mineral oil, Squalane), Silicones(Methicone, Dimethicone ), esters (Octyldodecanol, Octyl Dodecyl Myristate). The solvent phase used was C 7-8 isoparaffin and Isopropyl Alcohol. The interaction of oil binder and solvent is investigated by measuring mass of final oil binder and the each solubility parameter. It was found that the higher the solubility the higher the degree of change in the final composition of the oil binder. In order to maintain the quality of the final product, the solvent used in pressed-process should be hydrophobic with oil binder.
