Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the endodontic characteristics of mandibular premolars with dens evaginatus (DE) that require endodontic treatment. Materials and Methods: Patients who underwent endodontic treatment were enrolled. The inclusion criteria were patients who underwent root canal treatment in the lower permanent teeth with DE and were followed up for at least 1 year. Preoperative clinical and radiographic variables were obtained. The frequency distribution of the preoperative variables was compared using the χ2 or Fisher's exact tests. The significance of the change in periapical health index (PAI) and root development stages before and after treatment was examined using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: A total of 150 teeth of 134 patients with an average age of 15.3 years were included. The percentage distribution comparison of the preoperative variables and obturation techniques revealed significant differences in pulpal and periapical diagnosis, and percussion, and especially regarding age, root development stage, and PAI. Age was the only statistically significant preoperative variable associated with root growth (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Approximately, 60% of DEs requiring endodontic treatment had immature roots. Age being the most significant predisposing factor, early treatment provides the greatest opportunity for full root development.

From the restorative perspective, various methods are available to prevent the progression of non-carious cervical lesions. Direct, semi-direct, and indirect composite resin techniques and indirect ceramic restorations are commonly recommended. In this context, semi-direct and indirect restoration approaches are increasingly favored, particularly as digital dentistry becomes more prevalent. To illustrate this, we present a case report demonstrating the efficacy of hybrid ceramic fragments fabricated using computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) technology and cemented with resin cement in treating non-carious cervical lesions over a 48-month follow-up period. A 24-year-old male patient sought treatment for aesthetic concerns and dentin hypersensitivity in the cervical region of the lower premolar teeth. Clinical examination confirmed the presence of two non-carious cervical lesions in the buccal region of teeth #44 and #45. The treatment plan involved indirect restoration using CAD/CAM-fabricated hybrid ceramic fragments as a restorative material. After 48 months, the hybrid ceramic material exhibited excellent adaptation and durability provided by the CAD/CAM system. This case underscores the effectiveness of hybrid ceramic fragments in restoring non-carious cervical lesions, highlighting their long-term stability and clinical success.
Purpose: Dentists suffer back, neck and shoulder pain during their careers due to bad operating posture. If dentists have a good operating posture ergonomically, there would be less pain and discomfort in the shoulder and back. Therefore, dentists should learn the Home position which enables dentists to approach a stable posture ergonomically. This study was to compare tooth preparation in the Home position and the Random position, and evaluate the clinical efficacy of the Home position. Materials and methods: Tooth preparation for fixed partial denture was performed on the maxillary left 2nd premolar and maxillary left 2nd molar at the two different operating positions were compared. The amount of occlusal reduction, marginal width, subgingival margin depth, and convergence angle were measured. A T-test was performed separately to compare the results of the Random position and the Home position. Results: 1. The amounts of average thickness of occlusal reduction on fossa were deficient to the ordered ones in the Random position and the Home position (P > .05). 2. The average subgingival margin depth of prepared margin on maxillary left 2nd premolar, maxillary left 2nd molar were excessive in the Random position than in the Home position. On the maxillary left 2nd premolar, there was no statistical difference in the Random position and the Home position except Distal midline, DL line angle, Lingual midline, ML line angle (P< .05). On the maxillary left 2nd molar, there was no statistical difference in the Random position and the Home position (P < .05). 3. Average convergence angle in the Random position and the Home position were excessive compared to the ordered angle. There was no statistical difference in the Random position and the Home position (P > .05). 4. Analysis of pearson correlation : In the Random position, the amounts of average thickness of occlusal reduction, the average subgingival margin depth of prepared margin, convergence angle were significantly associated with each other (P < .05). But in the Home position, they were not significantly associated with each other (P < .05). 5. The time needed for preparation in the Home position was faster or equal than that of the Random position as time went on. Conclusion: In conclusion, there were no significant differences between Home position and Random position in measures of occlusal reduction, marginal width, marginal depth, convergence angle. However, preparation time and incidence of damaging adjacent teeth were less in Home position than in Random position. Therefore, if trained properly, Home position which is more ergonomically stable can be adopted for clinical use.

In case of implant-tooth connected prosthesis, a natural tooth tends to intrude. There are several mechanisms that explain an intrusion phenomenon. So it is reco mmended not to connect an implant with a natural tooth. A 68-year-old female had upper left $2^{nd}$ premolar and $2^{nd}$ molar extracted and underwent implant surgery on the missing area. We made an implant prosthesis and treated upper left $1^{st}$ molar with a gold crown. 2.5 year later, the patient complained about loose proximal contact and food impaction between upper left $1^{st}$ molar and $2^{nd}$ molar. Mesial side of upper left $2^{nd}$ molar implant prosthesis was soldered so that proximal contact became tight again. But after 7 months, about 2 mm intrusion of upper left $1^{st}$ molar occurred, and the patient felt periodontally originated pain on intruded upper left $1^{st}$ molar. After the gold crown on upper left $1^{st}$ molar was removed, extrusion occurred and pain was relived.

The purpose of this study is to improve the availabilities of radiographic technics as diagnostic method related to mandibular canal in dental clinic. For this study 12 dry mandibles were used and 12 orthopantomograms were taken for measuring the gonial angle and the angle of mandibular canal to inferior border of mandible. 12 sites located between the 1st premolar to the 3rd molar region of 3dry mandibles were selected randomly, for measuring the vertical image magnification rates on three films; intraoral film, orthopantomogram, and computed tomogram, respectively and the thickness of cortical bone, and for observing bucco-lingually and supero-inferiorly location of the mandibular canal. The acquired results were as follows: 1. The means of the gonial angle and the angle of mandibular canal to inferior border of mandible were 123.9° and 143.5° And the two angles of dry mandible in alveolar crest stage were greater than in alveolar socket stage. 2. The vertical image length on intraoral film by paralleling technic was magnified by 3.07% on the average, the length on orthopantomogram by 18.49%, and the length on computed tomogram by 0.27%. 3. Observation of the bucco-lingually positional relationship of the mandibular canal was impossible by occlusal projection with the cross section technic and intraoral standard projection with the Clack's rule, however, possible by computed tomogram. 4. The thickness of the cortical bone of mandible was thickest in inferior border, and thicker by 6.59% at buccal side than at lingual side.

The purpose of this study is to improve the availabilities of radiographic technics as diagnostic methods to evaluate maxillary sinus in dental clinic. For the morphologic study of maxillary sinus, 20 dry maxillas were used and intraoral standard views, orthopantomograms, and skull P-A views were taken. For measuring the vertical image magnification rates, 5 sites in maxillary molar regions of 5 dry mandibles were selected radndomly and 25 wires of the determined sizes for selected portions were attached to the sites, after then, intraoral radiograms with bisecting technic and orthopantomograms were taken. The acquired results were as follows: 1. The anterior extension of the maxillary sinus on orthopantomogram was the distal side of the canine in 45.45% of subjects, the mesial side of the canine in 27.27%, the lateral incisor in 9.09%, the mesial side of the 1st premolar in 9.09%, and the mesial side of the 2nd pre-molar in 9.09%. 2. The positional relationship between the floor of maxillary sinus and the apex of alveolar socket revealed superimposed type in 58.3% of subjects, approached type in 33.3%, and separated type in 8.4%. 3. The morphology of inferior border of maxillary sinus was simple V or U shape in edentulous stage and V or wide U shape in alveolar socket stage. 4. The vertical image length on intraoral film taken by bisecting technic was magnified by 27.23% on the average and the length on orthopantomogram by 12.35%. 5. The inferior borders of maxillary sinus coinciding with each of the areas bearing the anterior and the posterior teeth on skull P-A view were determined.

The purpose of this experiments is to compare the vertical and horizontal magnification, and the distortion of the radiographic image according to the types of panoramic machines. Total 70 radiographs, 10 radiographs out of 7 panoramic machines respectively, were taken from the dry skull with metal balls in the periapical areas of the central incisor, the canine, the second premolar, and the second molar in the maxilla and the mandible. And the author evaluated the vertical and horizontal magnification degrees, and the distortion degrees of radiographic images obtained from each panoramic machine. The results were as follows: There were no significant differences in the vertical and horizontal magnification degrees on the various portions of the jaws (p> 0.05). But there were higher magnification degrees in the Panoura 10C, Panograph Ⅱ, and Veraview than those in other panoramic machines. The lowest average magnification degree was 20.27% vertically, 20.94% horizontally using the Panoradix. The highest average magnification degree was 27.64% vertically, 28.48% horizontally using the Panograph Ⅱ. The lowest distortion was shown using the Panoura 10C in the maxilla, but there was not statistically significant difference between the panoramic machines in the mandible (p>0.05). There were no differences in the vertical and horizontal magnification degrees according to the types of the rotation centers.
Desmoplastic ameloblastoma is a rare histologic variant of ameloblastoma. It shows important differences in anatomic distribution, histologic appearance, and radiographic findings compared with the general type of ameloblastoma. It is histologically characterized by an abundance of densely collagenous stroma and radiographically a mixed radiolucent-radiopaque lesion. We present three cases of desmoplastic ameloblastoma. All the patients complained on buccal swelling with or without pain and the sites of occurrence were the anterior and the premolar region. Plain radiographs showed mixed radiopaque-radiolucent lesion with ill-defined or diffuse sclerotic margin and no external root resorption. Additionally, CT scans revealetl buccal expansion and relatively well-defined margin of the lesions. The clinical and radiographic features of the presented cases were compared with those of the desmoplastic ameloblastoma in the previous literatures.
