Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify changes in image of nurses of nursing students before and after their first clinical practice. Methods: The survey was performed to 60 nursing students in one university in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do. All participants had their first clinical practice for 8 weeks at four general hospitals in Seoul. The data were collected by questionnaires and were analyzed with frequency, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA using SPSS 19.0. Results: After the first clinical practice, the mean score ($4.05{\pm}0.85$) of the image of nurse was slightly higher than that of the image ($4.03{\pm}0.93$) before the clinical practice. However, there was no statistical significance in the scores between before and after the clinical practice (t=-0.55, p=.589). In four subcategories, before the first clinical practice, professional image was the highest followed by traditional, personal, and social image in order but after the clinical practice, professional image was the highest followed by traditional, social, and personal image in the mean scores of the image of nurse. Conclusion: The findings of the study may be a basis for expanding nursing practice and education related to image of nurse.
This study was conducted with the purpose of surveying the high school and university students and culinary teachers in charge of guidance in cooking related departments to see the recognition levels of culinary practice education and to suggest improvement plans. The subjects of this research were 616 culinary high school students, 419 culinary university students, and 103 culinary teachers. The collected data was compared and analyzed by frequency and percentage. The collected data was analyzed(i. e., $X^2$ test and t-test) using SPSS 14.0(SPSS Inc, Chicago, USA). Learning demands were shown to be high and much more practice was demanded, so it is required to raise the importance of culinary arts as a subject. Manpower placement, such as practice assistant teachers and practice teachers, is necessary and more training support for teachers' professional ability expansion is required. Moreover, it is required that practices after theory study, video education, and practice demonstrations should be performed and multimedia developed. Detailed practice demonstrations should be enabled and foreign subject education should be performed. The general evaluation in which feedback is appropriately made, along with the evaluation of practice courses and results needs to be performed. Positive school life should be prepared by performing proper course education simultaneously.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Most consumers are able to recognize allergenic foods. However, the frequency of checking such foods is reportedly low, resulting in higher prevalence of food-related allergic reactions in Korea compared to other countries. Thus, this study was performed to investigate the overall perception of allergenic food labeling and its practice level in food manufacturing company employees. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The survey was administered to food safety employees and food development teams at food companies located in metropolitan areas. A total of 399 (93.8%) valid samples were used in the final analysis. Statistical analyses, including Frequency Analysis, t-test, Anova, PCA (Principal Component Analysis), and Pearson Correlation Analysis using SPSS ver. 21.0, were performed. RESULTS: The correct answer rate in the analysis of allergy-related knowledge level ranged from 15.0% to 89.7%. Analysis of differences in allergy-related perception by knowledge level showed significant differences in introduction of a food recall system, strengthening of relevant laws and regulations, content labeling, description of substitutional food, and differentiated package by age. CONCLUSIONS: It can be concluded that labeling of allergenic foods should be made easier and more convenient for checking by employees, developers, and consumers, and it is necessary to provide contents through the development of publicity, guidelines, or APP along with labeling.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the frequency, perceived importance and competence of pediatric emergency nursing practice (PENP) in nurses who cared for pediatric patients in the emergency department. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study analyzed 175 emergency department nurses caring for pediatric patients at 7 university hospitals with more than 500 beds, located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The measurement tool was modified from the Classification of Standard Nursing Activities to measure the frequency, importance of PENP, and nursing competence. It comprised 143 items in 16 domains of PENP. Results: The most frequent nursing practice was the domain of 'nursing records and environmental management' and the least frequent practice was the 'research and consulting' domain. The nursing care domain perceived to be most important by nurses was 'specialized intensive nursing care'. The nursing care domain with the highest level of nursing competence was 'hygiene care', and the domain with the least level of nursing competence was the 'research and consulting'. Conclusion: These results will be utilized as basic data for future pediatric emergency nursing education initiatives and for establishing priorities of nursing policy to improve health care for children admitted to the emergency department.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency of sports injury among Korean junior elite golf players. The survey was made through the questionnaire which consist of eight categories and 280 valid answers were used to perform frequency analysis. The results indicated that 197 out of 280 participants experienced golf injuries (30%: during a game, 70%: during a practice) and 70% of them also experienced injuries within a year. The frequency analysis for the site of injury has shown that back was the most vulnerable area for all players(33%), followed by the right wrist, left shoulder and elbow for male players. Among female players, left wrist was the second weak site of injury, followed by the right wrist, right thoracic spine, and left shoulder. A few of them also have shown abnormal symptoms of ruptured lumbar disk, scoliosis, and lordosis and these injuries might be caused by the lack of flexibility and the fatigue due to over-practice. High frequency of wrist injury also demonstrated that excessive chopping or punching shot and poor environmental course conditions may cause this injury to be common. Overall, lack of warm up time, lack of strength and flexibility, and excessive amount of practice were the major reasons of injury for the junior elite golfers in Korea. The study also proved that these young Korean golfers actually had more chances to be faced with the injury than average. Thus, it is necessary to develop systematic and scientific methods of training, and prevention, treatment of these injuries with medical professionals.

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effect of verbal violence, clinical practice stress, and coping with stress on the major satisfaction in nursing students during clinical practice. Methods: A cross-sectional study was used. A survey was conducted from May 3 to May 10, 2022, on 200 nursing students who were in their junior and seneior years at two universities in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé's test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. Results: Major satisfaction was found to be significantly negatively correlated with verbal violence (r=-.30, p<.001) and clinical practice stress (r=-.15, p=.032) and to be positively correlated with coping with stress (r=.24, p<.001). Their satisfaction with clinical practice (β=.29, p=.037), verbal violence (β=-.23, p<.001), coping with stress (β=.16, p=.015), religion (β=.14, p=.041), and clinical practice stress (β =-.13, p=.048) explained 19.3% of the variance in nursing students' major satisfaction during clinical practice. Conclusion: A verbal violence and coping with stress program for nursing students should be developed to increase nursing students' major satisfaction during clinical practice.
Objectives: Practice of dental technology poses great potential risk since the manufacturing processes are complex and involve dangerous devices and the students are asked to handle various materials in the casting and processing process. Lacking an understanding of the overall practice process, the beginners of practice are exposed to greater danger due to their unsafe attitudes and poor practice attitudes. This study set out to investigate the students of dental technology for their attitudes toward safety and their practice of safe actions during practice and to provide basic data for safety education to prevent any possible safety incidents during practice. Methodology: The subjects include total 408 dental technology majors in their sophomore and junior year. Based on literature study and previous studies, a structured questionnaire was made, distributed to the subjects right after practice, and gathered on the spot. The questionnaire contained total 60 items, and data were collected from April 20 to May 25, 2006. Results: Collected data were analyzed in frequency and $X(C)^{\sim}$-test using the SPSS 12.0 version. The analysis results show that the students believed that they could prevent safety accidents by following safety rules and guidelines as far as safety attitudes were concerned. However, they did nothing more than paying attention to many practice processes even though they thought they were dangerous. Conclusion: Overall the subjects practiced proper safety actions during practice with significance differences in their behavioral characteristics according to grade, gender and age. The significant differences according to grade seem to derive from safety education before practice, and those according to gender and age have more to do with individual actions and common sense according to gender and age than education. Thus practice teachers need to develop safety education materials for each practice process and provide systematic safety education before practice so that the students can practice safety actions.
