  • In this paper, Firstly, it is shown that the bending mode vibration of check valve is comparatively large because resonance. Secondly in order to decrese the bending mode vibration of check valve, some practical dynamic vibration absorber have been developed and its effectiveness is investigated as installing it at the check valve of piping system practically.

  • Purpose. To prepare PVP-based solid dispersions containing lovastatin (LOS) and solubilizers (sodium lauryl sulfate. Tween80. oleic acid) to enhance dissolution of practically insoluble LOS. Methods. Solid dispersions containing LOS were prepared by dissolving two different organic solvent systems (acetone/ethanol or acetonitrile/ethanol). Results. The stickiness and flowability of solid dispersion powders were dependent on the composition and ratio of the solubilizers. (omitted)

  • We performed this survey to hear Yeungnam University Graduates' opinion on the current curriculum for the purpose of creating an education system of “practically competent person” instead of simply “competent person”. Questionnaire was made up of 13 multiple-choice questions and 1 descriptive question by Curriculum Reform Task Force of Yeungnam University. The survey was administered to randomly chosen 50 graduates by e-mail on August 1, 2003 and was collected between August 1 and August 10, 2003 for the analysis of respondent’s reply. (omitted)

  • Recently the author studied a one-parameter family of divergences and considered the related median minimization problem of finite points over these divergences in general symmetric cones. In this article, to utilize the results practically, we deal with a special symmetric cone called second order cone, which is important in optimization fields. To be more specific, concrete computations of divergences with its gradients and the unique minimizer of the median minimization problem of two points are provided skillfully.

  • The denuclearization of North Korea was unpredictable and resulted in radical changes. Despite the skepticism and disappointment surrounding denuclearization, it is important for certain verification technologies to establish what is technically possible or practically impossible, and how reliable these technical means are. This article presents the technical hurdles in nuclear verification by systematically categorizing them into issues of correctness and completeness. Moreover, it addresses the safety and security risks during the denuclearization process, including the radiological impact on humans, environmental effects, and the illegal transfer of material, information, and technologies.

  • This research aims to use machine learning technology in human resource management to predict employees' work-life balance. The study utilized a dataset from IBM Watson Analytics in the IBM Community for the machine learning analysis. Multinomial dependent variables concerning workers' work-life balance were examined, categorized into continuous and categorical types using the Generalized Linear Model. The complexity of assessing variable roles and their varied impact based on the type of model used was highlighted. The study's outcomes are academically and practically relevant, showcasing how machine learning can offer further understanding of psychological variables like work-life balance through analyzing employee profiles.

  • Many researches for service-life of chemical cartridges of respirators have been performed in many countries. On the result of these researches a few softwares programs were eventually developed to be used. In spite of that, it is difficult to apply these researches and softwares practically in the work spot because of too many factors that influence on service-life of chemical cartridges. This study was the first of two conducted for the purpose of developing program for estimating exchange period or service-life of chemical cartridges available feasibly in the workplaces. Collecting plan of cartridges discarded after use is in principle that three cartridges from three workers at a time, three steps of 1/2 exchange time due to smelling, just routine exchange time and 1.2 to 1.3 expanded time of routine exchange, total nine cartridges are collected in the same job site. 33 cartridges for organic vapor were collected in paint spray process of ship yard and paint factory, and 6 cartridges for acid were collected in plating process. These cartridges were analysed the remaining breakthrough time in 3M Innovation Center. Challenge vapor and breakthrough concentration were complied with Korean regulation for chemical cartridge respirators. Estimated breakthrough time was determined from previously used time plus breakthrough time for the remaining. Exchange period of cartridge would be the shortest time among three estimated breakthrough times. On the result breakthrough time for organic vapor was found to be relatively easily estimated, but that for acid aerosol or vapor was difficult to be confident. Even though this method was difficult to be precisely predicted exchange period of cartridge, it could be an alternative program practically available in the job site.

  • Hundreds of rock slopes are constructed along the road, highway and railroad in mountainous Kangwon province and managed by each authorities concerned. It is practically not possible to carry out detailed rock slope investigation owing to the tremendous number of slopes and budgetary limit. Therefore, it is reasonable to perform a step-by-step investigation consisted of basic and detailed survey program and practical rock slope hazard assesment method for person in charge is strongly required. Through the development and application of KSMR (Korean Slope Mass Rating), it was found that KSMR could be practically used as an alternative of SMR though the number of inputs were reduced. In addition, the difference of hazard assessment between KSMR and experts decreased in case of considering the height of slope.
