TCP/IP communication between LabVIEW and C language for Smart Grid Monitoring System (C 언어로 구현된 스마트 그리드 모니터링 시스템을 위한 LabVIEW와 C 언어의 TCP/IP통신)

  • In smart grid system which uses photovoltaic system, fuel cells and so on, a program implemented with C language is used for control and measurement. When using programs implemented with C language GUI is difficult to watch control and monitor the smart grid system. But LabVIEW is a graphical programming language and it is easy to design GUI screen and to manage many variables such as real-time output of electric power including solar cell, wind power system and fuel cell. This paper suggests LabVIEW and C-language TCP/IP communication for smart grid monitoring system i mplemented with C-language.

  • This paper presents the operation technology and the remote monitoring system of distribution pole transformer. Especially, this system uses CDMA wireless data communication network as media which is serviced on a national scale. It has four major components such as sensor for measuring the secondary voltage and currents of distribution transformer, CDMA wireless modem for data modulating/demodulating, communication media for sending/receiving of data, and PC server for monitoring the results of sensing or computing information. This paper also describes the configuration of each component's functions with its development process.

  • We had developed the on-line environmental monitoring system which has installed around Kori Nuclear Power Plants and will be taken the place of the existing system. The system consists of a main computer and 11 sets of radiation monitoring post equipments. Nal(Tl) scintillation detectro was adopted in addition to ion-chamber detector and implemented with DCU(Dose Conversion Unit) and SCA(Single Channel Analyzer). Compared with the existing system, it has revised feature in the radiation measurements which are detection of artificial radioactivity and 2-ways of the radiatiion detectors. The field test trsults show that the developed radiation detecting equipments can measure environmental radiation withn 5.0% of the theoretical value.

  • In this paper we proposed the real time monitoring system for power controller in CRCS. The proposed real time monitoring system can be utilized to adapt CRCS to real plant at initial step for commercial use. Through the this system, we are assured that CRCS is more easily fitted to real plant.

  • Laser claddmg 1s thc deposition of material on the surface of a part or workpiece. Cladding of metals produces a 100% dense metallurgically-bonded coating with minimal dilution for enhanced corrosion, abrasion and wear resistance. Despite of minimal heat Input and reduced processing time, cladding quality 1s affected by various process condition such as laser power and feed rate. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the momtoring and control methods of laser cladding process for the best cladding quality. In this paper, laser cladding monitoring system using CCD camera for measuring cladding pool shape, and photo-diode sensor for detecting optical signal emitted from the cladding front is introduced The variables extracted using this system can be apphed to control the laser cladding system to achieve the best claddmg results..

  • This paper presents a generator for stand-alone vibration monitoring system of bridge structure based on ambient vibration of bridge. In this paper, a novel electric power generator which has minimum effect of armature reaction is proposed. The related mechanical and electrical design equations are obtained and a pilot generator has been implemented. In addition, the charging system for extremely low generator current is discussed, and some improvements are identified for the system. This investigation reveals that diode characteristics of rectifier is dominant factor in the charging process. Finally, both the simulation, which uses real measurement data of the Namhae bridge as input of the pilot generator, and indoor test are carried out. The results showed the applicability and effectiveness of the stand-alone vibration powered generator.

  • A graphic display and operator console system is developed for monitoring the operation of power plant. It has multiprocessor structure using VME bus and common memory. The graphic monitoring system is applied to fault tolerant control system for enhancing reliability of boiler analog controller. As a result, it displays all the operating date as color graphic images with 14 pages. Moreover, it can transfer the operator commands to the other micro-processors through common memory.

  • This paper describes a Power Monitoring Unit (PMU) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) electrical system, It is designed for the PMU which performs data sensing of generator, transformer rectifier unit (TRU), battery and gear box installed in UAV and operate power ON/OFF devices of mission equipment. The PMU measures the voltage and current for the aircraft power source (generators, transformer rectifier unit and battery), measures the pressure and temperature of the gearbox, and performs the mission equipment power command received from the mission computer. The PMU was designed to meet the requirements of the UAV, and was performed through structure/thermal analysis, environmental test, EMI test and ground/flight tests.

  • In this paper, the coaxial monitoring system to capture image of weld pool was developed in laser-arc hybrid welding. In order to obtain the reliable image, green laser was used as a illumination system and measuring components such as band pass filter, ND (Neutral Density) filter and shutter speed was designed and optimized. Using this monitoring system, weld pool images were captured according to laser power, welding speed, welding current and interspace between laser and arc through the experiment. ANOVA (Analysis of Variation) was carried out to identify the influence of process variables on bead widths extracted from captured images of monitoring system. Welding speed and current were major factor to affect weld pool.

  • Power supply system & environment have been changed according to the universal global electrification, the pursuit of improving productivity and the convenience of life. The various kinds of modem electric facilities and almost of all kinds of digital devices embedded microprocessor are very sensitive to the supplied power quality variations. So, they are stopped and result in large economic damage when even the deterioration of power quality with short duration is occurred, which was not so fatal to the conventional industrial facilities and devices. Conversely, those facilities and digital devices generate many kinds of power quality problems such as harmonic.;, flicker, voltage drop, etc. This paper presents the status of power quality and outlines the development of a new power quality monitoring system based on the experience of a series of authors' researches and field measurements for industrial customers in Korea. It also proposes the functions of the monitoring device and the efficient analysis method based on the Korean electrical act and international standards on power quality. Finally, the authors suggest some countermeasures for advancing the power quality to cope with the competitive electric power market and customers' needs after domestic restructuring of electric power industry.
