Smart Control System Using Fuzzy and Neural Network Prediction System

  • In this paper, a prediction system is proposed to control the brightness of smart street lamps by predicting the moving path through the reduction of consumption power and information of pedestrian's past moving direction while meeting the function of existing smart street lamps. The brightness of smart street lamps is adjusted by utilizing the walk tracking vector and soft hand-off characteristics obtained through the motion sensing sensor of smart street lamps. In addition, the motion vector is used to analyze and predict the pedestrian path, and the GPU is used for high-speed computation. Pedestrians were detected using adaptive Gaussian mixing, weighted difference imaging, and motion vectors, and motions of pedestrians were analyzed using the extracted motion vectors. The preprocessing process using linear interpolation is performed to improve the performance of the proposed prediction system. Fuzzy prediction system and neural network prediction system are designed in parallel to improve efficiency and rough set is used for error correction.

Support Vector Machine을 이용한 기업부도예측 (Bankruptcy Prediction using Support Vector Machines)

  • There has been substantial research into the bankruptcy prediction. Many researchers used the statistical method in the problem until the early 1980s. Since the late 1980s, Artificial Intelligence(AI) has been employed in bankruptcy prediction. And many studies have shown that artificial neural network(ANN) achieved better performance than traditional statistical methods. However, despite ANN's superior performance, it has some problems such as overfitting and poor explanatory power. To overcome these limitations, this paper suggests a relatively new machine learning technique, support vector machine(SVM), to bankruptcy prediction. SVM is simple enough to be analyzed mathematically, and leads to high performances in practical applications. The objective of this paper is to examine the feasibility of SVM in bankruptcy prediction by comparing it with ANN, logistic regression, and multivariate discriminant analysis. The experimental results show that SVM provides a promising alternative to bankruptcy prediction.

BEMT를 적용한 수평축 풍력터빈 성능해석 소프트웨어의 개발 (Software Development for the Performance Analysis of the HAWT based on BEMT)

  • The optimum design and the performance analysis software called POSEIDON for the HAWT (Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine) was developed by use of BEMT. The Prandtl's tip loss theory was adopted to consider the blade tip loss. The lift and the drag coefficient of S-809 airfoil were predicted via X-FOIL and also the post stall characteristics of S-809 were estimated by the Viterna's equations. All the predicted aerodynamic characteristics are fairly well agreed with the wind tunnel test results, performed by Sommers in Delft university of technology. The rated power of the testing rotor is 20kW(FIL-20) at design conditions. The experimental aerodynamic parameters and the X-FOIL data were used for the power prediction of the FIL-20 respectively. The comparison results shows good agreement in power prediction.

열유동을 고려한 GIS 모선의 온도상승 예측 (Temperature Rise Prediction of GIS Bus Bar Considering Thermal Flow)

  • Many works on the temperature distribution of power apparatus have usually done by coupled magneto-thermal analysis. Such a method can not consider the internal gas or oil flow in the power apparatus such as gas insulated switchgear, GIS bus bar, and power transformer. Moreover it can not show the internal temperature distribution of the power apparatus exactly. This paper proposes a coupled magneto-thermal-flow analysis considering Navier-Stokes equations. The convection heat transfer coefficient is calculated analytically by applying Nusselt number for natural convection and is applied to the boundary condition of proposed method. Temperature distribution of the GIS bus bar model considering thermal flow is obtained by the proposed method and shows good agreement with the experimental data.

  • DC link electrolytic capacitors are widely used in various PWM power converter system, such as adjustable speed driver(ASD) or DC/DC converter. Electrolytic capacitors, which is the most of the time affected by aging effect, plays a very important role for the power electronics system quality and reliability. This objective of this paper is to propose a improvement method to detect the rise of equivalent series resistor(ESR) in order to realize the online failure prediction of electrolytic capacitor for DC link of PWM power converter. The ESR detection scheme is based on the determination of the electrolytic capacitor AC losses calculated from voltage/current measurement using AC coupling. Therefore, the preposed online failure prediction method has the merits of easy ESR computation and circuit simplicity compare with BPF method. Simulation results show the veridity of the proposed on-line ESR estimation method.

  • A Numerical analysis has been used to predict the performance in the automotive water pump with double discharge single suction. The influence of parameters such as coolant flow rate, rotational speed, ratio of blade height and clearance has been investigated. Also, the prediction of hydraulic performances such as static pressure rise, shaft power, hydraulic power and pump efficiency is carried out on the water pump including an impeller and a volute casing. A full size water pump test bench has been developed to validate the CFD flow model. Discharge flow rate, suction pressure, discharge pressure, rotational speed and torque measurements are provided. Coolant temperature is 8$0^{\circ}C$, water tank pressure is 1 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and flow rates vary.

A Novel Predictive Digital Controlled Sensorless PFC Converter under the Boundary Conduction Mode

  • This paper presents a novel predictive digital control method for boundary conduction mode PFC converters without the need for detecting the inductor current. In the proposed method, the inductor current is predicted by analytical equations instead of being detected by a sensing-resistor. The predicted zero-crossing point of the inductor current is determined by the values of the input voltage, output voltage and predicted inductor current. Importantly, the prediction of zero-crossing point is achieved in just a single switching cycle. Therefore, the errors in predictive calculation caused by parameter variations can be compensated. The prediction of the zero-crossing point with the proposed method has been shown to have good accuracy. The proposed method also shows high stability towards variations in both the inductance and output power. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed predictive digital control method for PFC converters.

9 kW 출력용 태양열 스털링엔진 발전시스템의 설계와 성능예측 (Design and Performance Prediction of Power System in a Solar Stirling Engine for 9 kW Output)

  • In order to make a match of the insufficient direct solar radiation, in this study, the target output is lowered to 9 kW smaller than 25 kW in former studies. It is also necessary to match the collector/receiver with engine/generator systems to accomplish the power level of a system. The simulation analyses of a dish solar power system with stirling engine are totally carried out to predict the system performance with the designed values. In addition, an influence of direct solar radiation on system performance and operation control is discussed in simulation. It is found that the diameter of concentrator could be made small to 8 m regardless of slope errors with 2.5 and 5.0 mrad radiation, and the operation range of mean pressure control. is wide even if the direct solar radiation is a quit low.

  • In this paper, the power simulation is used for the prediction of regenerative energy and examination of install location of regenerative inverter for DC railway system. The power simulation was composed to train performance simulation(TPS) and power flow simulation. We performed the power simulation for Seoul subway line 5 and 7, calculation of regenerative energy and examination of substations where regenerative inverter is installed.
