Effect of Exercise with Vertical Vibration on the Balance, Walking Speed, Muscle Strength and Falls Efficacy in the Elderly (수직 진동 운동이 노인의 균형, 보행속도, 근력 및 낙상효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine if an exercise program with vertical vibration can improve balance, walking speed, muscle strength and falls efficacy in the healthy elderly. METHODS: A total of 28 elderly were randomly divided into two groups: vertical vibration exercise group (exercise with vertical vibration) (N = 14) and control group (exercise without vibration) (N = 14). The exercise program, comprising calf raise, deep-squat, semi-squat, front lunge, and leg abduction was conducted with or without vibration, respectively. Subjects in each group participated in the 30 minutes training program, 2 times per week for 6 weeks. In both groups, the balance evaluation system (BT4) was used to evaluate standing balance, and walking speed was measured using the 10MWT. The manual muscle test system was applied to evaluate the knee extensor and ankle planter flexor muscle strength of the subjects, whereas the Korean falls efficacy scale (K-FES) evaluated the falls efficacy. RESULTS: After intervention, the vertical vibration group showed significantly higher changes compared to the control group, in the parameters of standing balance (P < .05), 10MWT (P < .05), left knee extensor (P < .05), right knee extensor (P < .01), both ankle plantar flexors (P < .05), and K-FES (P < .05). CONCLUSION: The exercise program with vertical vibration has the potential to improve balance, walking speed, muscle power and falls efficacy in the elderly.

The Effects of Eye Movement Training on the Static Balance and Fall Efficacy in the Elderly (안구운동이 노인의 정적균형과 낙상효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study is to identify how eye movement influences the static balance and fall efficacy of the elderly who have experienced fall-related injuries. Methods: Thirty nine elderly who scored 24 points in the Korean mini mental state examination, were able to walk, and had no specific disease, were selected as the research subjects among elderly who have experienced fall-related injury more than once in the past year. Thus, 20 for the experimental group, and 19 for the control group were selected as subjects. The experiment was conducted for 6 weeks, including periods of evaluation before and after intervention. Results: The results with respect to the dependent variables are as follows: Substitute sample t-testing showed significant differences between each group in eye movement to check difference in balance performance and fall efficacy. When independent sample t-tests were conducted to compare static balancing performance and fall efficacy between the two groups after intervention, they showed significant differences in statistical terms (p<0.05). Conclusion: From the above results of the study, it was found that the application of eye movement combined with diverse fall prevention programs is effective, when enhancing static balance performance power and improving fall efficacy.

An Analysis on the Relationship and Influence of Pre-service Early Childhood Teacher's Personality Factors and Teacher Efficacy (예비유아교사의 성격유형과 교사효능감의 관계 및 영향력 분석)

  • This study analyzed the relationship between the personality factors in pre-service early childhood teachers and teacher efficacy. To carry out the research, this experiment subjected 228 pre-service early childhood teachers in G city. The collected data were descriptive methods, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. The results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant positive relationships among the personality factors and teacher efficacy. Second, the personality factors was an important factor for predicting the teacher efficacy of pre-service early childhood teachers. Also, the explanation power of personality factors for teacher efficacy of pre-service early childhood teachers was 25%, extroversion is one of the most personality factors of infant pre-serve early childhood teacher. Therefore, according to this research, a preserves early childhood teacher training program for improvement of extraversion in personality factors is strongly desired.

The Effects of Clinical Practice Stress, Grit and Self-Efficacy on Clinical Competency in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상실습 스트레스, 그릿, 자기효능감이 임상 수행 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to understand the correlation between clinical practice stress, grit, self-efficacy, and clinical performance of nursing students and to identify factors affecting clinical performance. A survey was conducted on 160 students in 3rd and 4th grade students enrolled in a nursing department located in G city. As a result of the study, clinical performance was negatively correlated with clinical practice stress(r=-.383, p< .001) and positively correlated with grit(r=.310, p< .001), self-efficacy (r=.327, p< .001). Factors affecting the clinical performance of nursing students were clinical practice stress(β=-.37, p<.001), clinical practice satisfaction (β=.35, p< .001), self-efficacy (β=.31, p< .001), grit (β=.28, p< .001) and the explanatory power was 42.8%. Based on the results of this study, in order to improve the clinical performance of nursing students, it is necessary to reduce the clinical practice stress and make them satisfied with the clinical practice.   • This study was attempted to understand the effect of university students' psychological well-being and interpersonal competence on their career decision-making self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 154 university students, and data collection was conducted from November 1 to December 10, 2019. The collected data were analyzed using x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Psychological well-being and interpersonal competence were found to be significant influencing factors on career decision-making self-efficacy and the explanation power was 41.6% (F=66.48, p<.001). When establishing a program that can improve career decision-making self-efficacy of university student, psychological well-being and interpersonal competence, which are factors that affect career decision self-efficacy revealed through the results of this study, should be considered.

The Influence of Self-efficacy, Satisfaction in Major on College Adjustment Among Mature Nursing Students (간호학과 만학도 학생의 자기효능감, 전공만족도가 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, the number of mature students who apply nursing departments is increasing due to the increase in lifelong learning needs and the high employment rate of nursing jobs. This study aimed to investigate the effect of self-efficacy, satisfaction in major on college adjustment among mature nursing students. Data were collected from October to December, 2021 and a total of 148 mature student participated in this study. The result showed that the self-efficacy was 3.69±0.51, satisfaction in major was 4.07±0.50 and college adjustment was 3.42±0.50. As a result of analyzing factors, grade(β=.20, p=.001), self-efficacy(β=.43, p<.001) and satisfaction in major(β=.37, p<.001) were significant predictors of college adjustment, and the explanatory power was 54%. Mature nursing students are expected to increase in the future, and based on the results of this study, it is suggested that mature nursing students improve their college adjustment by providing intervention programs that can increase self-efficacy and satisfaction in major.

The Relationship between Health Consciousness and Health Promoting Behavior among Nursing College Students: The Mediating Effect of Health Self-efficacy (간호대학생의 건강관심도와 건강증진행위와의 관계: 건강관리 자기효능감의 매개효과)

  • This study attempts to understand the mediating effect of health self-efficacy in the relationship between health consciousness and health promoting behavior of nursing college students. The subjects of the study were 255 nursing college students attending nursing departments at four universities located in G city and J province. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25.0, and Sobel tests were conducted to verify the mediating effect. As a result, health self-efficacy showed a partial mediating effect between health consciousness and health promoting behavior(Z=5.54, p<.001). The higher the health consciousnes(β=.20, p<.001) and health self-efficacy(β=.39, p<.001), the higher the level of health promoting behavior. And the explanatory power(R2) explaining the health promoting behavior was 48%. Therefore, in order to improve the health promoting behavior of nursing college students, it is necessary to prepare an effective strategy to not only increase health consciousness but also strengthen health self-efficacy at the same time.

Effects of Mentoring Function, Self-Concept, Career Decision-making Self-efficacy, and Major Satisfaction on College Life Adaptation (멘토링 기능, 자아개념, 진로결정 자기효능감, 전공만족도가 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to prepare basic data to help college students adapt to college life by grasping the effects of mentoring skills, self-concept, career decision-making self-efficacy, and major satisfaction on college life adaptation. To achieve the purpose of the study, data were collected from January 17 to January 27, 2024, targeting college students from one university in C city located in G-do. The survey was conducted online. As a result of the study, the mentoring function of the subjects averaged 4.11 points (out of 5 points), the self-concept was 4.29 points (out of 5 points), the career decision-making self-efficacy was 4.04 points (out of 5 points), the major satisfaction was 4.45 points (out of 5 points), and the college life adaptation was 3.91 points (out of 5 points). The factor that most influenced the subject's adaptation to college life was career decision-making self-efficacy, followed by self-concept, mentoring function, and major-art field. The explanatory power of the model was 70.2%. Specifically, the higher the career decision-making self-efficacy, the higher the self-concept, and the higher the mentoring function, the higher the adaptation to college life. Educational intervention programs (non-curricular programs) are needed to adapt to college life for college students, and subsequent studies need to examine the effects of the developed programs.

  • This study explored the link between reproductive health knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy in young women from Uganda's Luwero district. A survey was conducted on 82 women in the Luwero region from May to July 2016, and the predictive power of knowledge and attitudes toward self-efficacy was evaluated through multiple linear regression analysis. Results showed positive correlations among these factors, with knowledge and attitude predicting self-efficacy. Specifically, understanding healthy puberty habits and valuing women's roles positively influenced self-efficacy for healthy behaviors. These findings emphasize the need to target these aspects in reproductive health education programs, crucial for addressing adolescent pregnancy and related issues in Uganda's rural areas.

  • In this paper, we designed a power supply AC LED driving device which can display uniform power consumption and light efficiency even when AC power of different size is applied. By setting input voltages and deviations of different sizes, it is confirmed that the electric light characteristics are the same at two input voltages. In addition, according to peak voltage of AC power, improper lighting caused in specific LED section is improved, and LED lighting of all sections is implemented in all commercial AC input voltage.
