Effects of Position of Auxiliary Probe on Ground Resistance Measurement Using Fall-of-Potential Method

  • In this paper, the effects of the position and the angle of the potential probes on the measurements of the ground resistance using the fall-of-potential method are described and the testing techniques for minimizing the measuring errors are proposed. The fall-of-potential method is theoretically based on the potential and current measuring principle and the measuring error is primarily caused by the position and angle of auxiliary probes. In order to analyze the relative error in the measured value of the ground resistance due to the position of the potential probe, the ground resistance was measured for the case in which the distance of the current probe was fixed at 50[m] and the distance of the potential probe was located from 10[m] to 50[m]. Also, the potential probe was located in turn at $30[^{\circ}]$, $45[^{\circ}]$, $60[^{\circ}]$, $90[^{\circ}]$, and $180[^{\circ}]$. As a consequence, relative error decreased with increasing distance of the potential probe and decreasing angle between the current probe and potential probe. The results could help to determine the position of the potential probe during the ground resistance measurement.

  • 본 논문에서는 전위강하법을 이용한 접지저항 측정시 전위보조전극의 위치 및 각도의 영향에 대하여 기술하였으며, 측정시 오차를 최소화하는 기법을 제안하였다. 전위강하법은 이론적으로 전위와 전류의 측정원리에 근간을 두고 있으며 측정오차는 주로 보조전극의 위치와 각도에 기인한다. 전위보조전각의 위치에 의한 접지저항 측정값의 상대오차를 분석하기 위해 전류보조전극의 거리를 50[m]로 고정시키고 전위보조전극의 거리를 10[m]에서 50[m]까지 변화시키며 접지저항을 측정하였고 또한 전위보조전극과 전류보조전극 사이의 각도를 30[$^{\circ}$], 45[$^{\circ}$], 60[$^{\circ}$], 90[$^{\circ}$], 180[$^{\circ}$]로 변화시키며 측정하였다. 결과적으로 전위보조전극의 거리 증가 및 전류보조전극과 전위보조전극 사이의 각도가 감소할수록 상대오차가 작게 나타났다. 본 실험결과는 접지시스템의 접지저항을 측정할 때 전위보조전극의 위치를 결정하는데 활용될 수 있다.

  • This paper describes the characteristics for ground impedance of counterpoise according to position of auxiliary probe and frequency using the fall-of-potential method and the testing techniques to minimize the measuring errors are proposed. The fall-of-potential method is theoretically based on the potential and current measuring principle and the measuring error is primarily caused by the position of auxiliary probes. In order to analyze the effects of ground impedance due to the distance of the current probe and frequency, ground impedances were measured in case that the distance of current probe was located from 10[m] to 100[m] and the measuring frequency was ranged in 55 [Hz], 128[Hz], 342[Hz], and 513[Hz]. The results could be help to determine the position of auxiliary probe when the ground impedance was measured at grounding system.

  • In this paper, the effects of the positions of the current probe on the measurements of the ground resistanc, and potential gradients with fall-of-potential method are described, and the testing techniques to minimize the measuring errors are proposed. The fall-of-potential method is theoretically based on the potential and current measuring principle and the measuring error is primarily caused by the position of the measuring auxiliary probes. The ground resistance is calculated by applying the 61.8% lute using fall-of-potential method.

  • This paper describes ground surface potential rises and touch voltage. The more soil resistivity of upper layer is lower, the more ground surface potential rise is increased. Ground surface potential rise is increased as the buried depth of ground rod in lowered. Ground surface potential rises were measured in the test site and compared with results by CDEGS program. Touch voltages according to the separation distance of ground rod were measured in four directions. Touch voltages were remarkably changed by separation distance and contact position.

  • 본 논문에서는 전위강하법에 의한 접지저항 측정시 전위보조전극 위치의 영향에 대하여 기술하였다. 전위강하법에서 접지저항은 이론적으로 전위보조전극을 피측정 접지전극과 전류보조전극이 이루는 일직선상에 위치시킬때 61.8[%]법칙을 적용하여 측정한다. 하지만 측정현장의 사정상 전위보조전극의 위치를 피측정 접지전극과 전류 보조전극이 이루는 일직선과 어느 정도의 각도를 가지도록 시설하여 접지저항을 측정하게 될 경우에 측정오차가 발생하게 되고 보정이 필요하다. 본 연구에서의 측정대상 전극은 길이 2.4 [m]의 봉형 접지전극으로 하였으며, 피측정 접지전극, 전위보조전극, 전류보조전극이 일직선상에 놓이지 않은 상태에서 접지저항을 측정하면 측정값은 항상 (-)의 오차를 나타내었고, 이들 전극이 이루는 각도가 증가함에 따라 측정 오차도 증가하였다.

  • This paper presents a new method driving multiple robots to their goal position without collision. Each robot adjusts its motion based on the information on the goal location, velocity, and position of the robot and the velocity and position of the .other robots. To consider the movement of the robots in a work area, we adopt the concept of avoidability measure. The avoidability measure figures the degree of how easily a robot can avoid other robots considering the following factors: the distance from the robot to the other robots, velocity of the robot and the other robots. To implement the concept in moving robot avoidance, relative distance between the robots is derived. Our method combines the relative distance with an artificial potential field method. The proposed method is simulated for several cases. The results show that the proposed method steers robots to open space anticipating the approach of other robots. In contrast, the usual potential field method sometimes fails preventing collision or causes hasty motion, because it initiates avoidance motion later than the proposed method. The proposed method can be used to move robots in a robot soccer team to their appropriate position without collision as fast as possible.

  • The ship hull part is always exposed to severe corrosive environments. Therefore, it should be protected in appropriate ways to reduce corrosion problems. So there are two effective methods in order to protect the corrosion of ship hull. One is the paint coating as a barrier between steel and electrolyte (seawater) and the other is the cathodic protection(CP) supplying protection current. In the conventional design process of the cathodic protection system the required current densities of protected materials have been used. However, the anode position of field or laboratory experiment for obtaining the required current density for CP is significantly different from anode position for real structures. Therefore, the recent CP design must consider the optimum anode position for potential distribution equally over the ship hull. The CP design companies in the advanced countries can obtain the potential distribution results on the cathodic materials by using the computer analysis module. This study would show how to approach the potential analysis in the field of corrosion engineering. The computer program can predict the under protection area on the structure when the boundary condition and analysis procedure are reasonable. In this analysis the polarization curve is converted to the boundary condition in material data.

  • In this paper, we adopt a position specific scoring matrix as an abstraction of amino acid type to derive two new statistical potentials for protein structure prediction, and investigated its effect on the quality of the potentials compared to that derived using residue specific amino acid identity. For stringent test of the potential quality, we carried out folding simulations of 91 residue A chain of protein 2gpi, and found unexpectedly that the abstract amino acid type improved the quality of the one-body type statistical potential, but not for the two-body type statistical potential which describes long range interactions. This observation could be effectively used when one develops more accurate potentials for structure prediction, which are usually involved in merging various one-body and many-body potentials.

  • This study aims to compare stress concentratior factors in a loaded elastic body of the infinite plate with pressure coefficients of a fluid in the potential flow. First in view of hydrodynamics, when a single elliptic cylinder in the form of a bluff body stands in the potential flow, the pressure distribution(doefficient, C$\_$p/around the elliptic cylicder which is changed according to the position(angular displacements)is theoretically analyzed and calulated; secondly, in view of theory of elasticity, when an eliptic hole which is made on a flat plate gets tension, the stress distribution(factor) around the elliptic hole which is changed according to the position(angular displacements )is theoretically(K$\_$t/) and experimentally (K$\_$e/) measured; and finally. The results are compard and examined.
