Subjects were 174 mothers of 4~6 year-old children, and they answered questionnaires regarding coparenting, marital quality, personality, and initial temperatment of their children. For mothers of both boys and girls, positive marital quality wass related positively to warmth, support, and integrity coparenting and negatively to conflict coparenting. Only for mothers of girls, higher warmth and integrity coparenting was shown when they were extroverted. while those who were neurotic showed higher conflict coparenting. • This study showed that the association between grandmother-mother relationship and grandmother-grandchildren ties is mediated by the coparenting. Participants consisted of 329 grandmothers who were rearing preschool aged grandchildren in the Seoul and Gyeonggido area. SPSS 23.0 performed descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis. The structural equation model was estimated with AMOS 23.0. Parameters were estimated using the maximum likelihood method. Model fit index used the chi-square statistic, the goodness of fit index (GFI), the Turker-Lewis index (TLI), the comparative fit index (CFI), the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA). The mediation effect analysis followed a two-step verification process; direct and indirect effect. In addition, statistical significance of the indirect effect was examined using a bootstrapping procedure. The results are as follows. First, a positive correlation was found between the grandmother-mother relationship, grandmother-grandchildren ties, and coparenting. Second, the association between grandmother-mother relationship and grandmother-grandchildren ties is mediated by coparenting. The results of this study suggest that the quality of the grandmother's relationship with mothers and cooperative coparenting is important to building relationships with grandchildren. In addition, coparenting can be an important mechanism for grandmother-mother relationships and grandmother-grandchild ties. Based on the results of this study, we discussed ways to improve the grandmothers' relationship quality with the mother and strengthen parenting ability.

  • Objective: This study examined the relationships among attention deficits/hyper activities problems(ADHD problems), executive function difficulties, and social capital inside the family, especially with the mediating effect of social capital inside the family, in children from dual-income households. Methods: The participants were 401 children from dual-income households from the eighth wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children. They belonged into lower and higher ADHD problems groups that showed below 25% or more than 75% of ADHD screening items' total score. The data were analyzed by t-test, correlation analysis and mediating effect test by PROCESS macro 3.5.3.. Results: Children's executive function difficulties and social capital inside the family were significantly different between the two lower and higher ADHD problems groups. A mediating effect was found based on the negative relationships between the social capital inside the family including mother's warm childrearing behavior and positive coparenting, and children's executive function difficulties. Children's ADHD problems had a negative influence on each of the two social capital variables and each of the two variables had a negative influence on the executive function difficulties. Conclusion/Implications: These results emphasize the meaningful role of social capital inside the family in the development of first graders with ADHD problems from dual-income households.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze parental gatekeeping dimensions(control, encouragement, discouragement) and types of gatekeeping in the two families featured in the drama 「SKY Castle」. Of the 8 types of gatekeeping, the traditional gate blocker(high control, low encouragement, and high discouragement) most often described in the drama, creates a difficult situation for a father trying to participate in child rearing. But traditional gate blockers do not always unnecessarily limit father involvement. In father's coerecive and dictatorial environment, traditional maternal gatekeeping strategies protect her children and create secure environment. The facilitative gate openers(high control, high encouragement, and low discouragement) is the functional gatekeeping type. Because the mother's highly controlling and highly encouraging ways serve as a positive coparenting strategy, the facilitative gate maintain a high level of authority over the amount and type of father involvement.
