A Study on the Evaluation of Semi-Anechoic Chamber Characteristics -mainly on horizontal polarization- (전파반무향실의 특성평가에 관한 연구 - 수평편파를 중심으로 -)

  • We are confronted with the serious EMI(electromagnetic interference) problems in company with the development of electronic equipments. Accordingly it is also required to construct some anechoic chambers for EMI measurement. Furthermore it is very important to evaluate the chamber characteristics in advance of its construction. For that purpose we have analyzed the characteristics by computer simulation in base on the image method, and compared the results with the measured ones. In case of 3-meter method as a result, the curved line of height pattern of open site varies similarly as that of height pattern of anechoic chamber. When we measure the electromagnetic strength and can get the height pattern curves by frequencies, we utilized it effectively because we can protect instrumental errors in measurement. On the other hand, there is a little difference in site attenuation above 700MHz. When the ferrite grid was used however, the calculated values agree well with the measured values up to 1000MHz with the exception of 30-40 MHz range. The reason is that we don't consider the antenna coupling in the low frequencies of 30-100MHz range.

  • As a result of the global effect of infectious diseases like COVID-19, remote patient monitoring has become a vital need. Surgical ICU monitors are attached around the clock for patients in critical care. Most ICU monitor systems, on the other hand, lack an output port for transferring data to an auxiliary device for post-processing. Similarly, strapping a slew of wearables to a patient for remote monitoring creates a great deal of discomfort and limits the patient's mobility. Hence, an unique remote monitoring technique for the ICU monitor's physiologically vital readings has been presented, recognizing this need as a research gap. This mechanism has been put to the test in a variety of modes, yielding an overall accuracy of close to 90%.

  • Fractal theory has been widely used to quantify the complexity of remotely sensed digital elevation models and images. Despite successful applications of fractals to a variety of fields including computer graphics, engineering and geosciences, the performance of fractal estimators depends highly on data sampling. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for computing the fractal dimension based on the triangular prism method and a new sampling method. The proposed sampling method combines existing two methods, that is, the geometric step method and the divisor step method to increase pixel utilization. In addition, while the existing estimation methods are based on $N{\times}M$ window, the proposed method expands to $N{\times}M$ window. The proposed method is applied to generated fractal DEM, Brodatz's image DB and real images taken in the campus to demonstrate its feasibility.

  • Recently, HSDI (High Speed Direct Injection) diesel engine has been spotlighted as a next generation engine because it has a good potential for high thermal efficiency and fuel economy. This study was carried out to investigate the in-cylinder flow characteristics generated in a 4-valve small diesel cylinder head with a tangential and helical intake port. The flow characteristics such as coefficient of flow rate(Cf), swirl ratio (Rs), and mass flow rate (ms) were measured in the steady flow test rig using the impulse swirl meter and the analysis of in-cylinder flow field was conducted by experiment using the PIV and calculation using the commercial CFD code. As the results from steady flow test indicate, the mass flow rate of the cylinder head with a short distance between the two intake ports is increased over 13% than that of the other head. However, the non-dimensional swirl ratio is decreased approximately 15%. From in-cylinder flow characteristics obtained by PIV and CFD calculation, we found that the swirl center was eccentric from the cylinder center and the velocity distribution became uniform near the TDC. In addition, the results of the calculation are good agreement with the experimental results.

  • The Free surface influenced the wake behind a circular cylinder and its effects were investigated experimentally in a circulating water channe with the variation of water depth Instantaneous velocity fields were measured in this paper. the measured results has been compared with each other to investigate the flow characteristics of the circular cylinder's 2-dimensional section at $Re=1.0\times10^3$ using 2-frame grey level cross correlation PIV method. The flow around the circular cylinder with free surface affected the wake structure. especially, in case of d=1.0D, the boundary layer was measured in the whole area. The separation point and boundary layer of the circular cylinder could be controlled by the water depth.

  • An open water rudder test was carried out to figure out the flow characteristics around a twin rudder at $Re=1.5\times10^4$. In the analysis, the unique characteristics of a twin rudder, which effects rudder farces, were explained. The analysis is included varying angles of attack fram 10 to 30 degree. In this paper, the measured results has been compared with each other to predict the performance characteristics of a twin rudder's 2-dimensional section by 2-frame grey level cross correlation PIV method. The side force of the rudder could be mainly improved at 0.75L.

  • The control surface on a ship is to control the motion of it in forward and backward states. In this paper, the measured results has been compared with each other to predict the backward flow characteristics of the single rudder's 2-dimensional section at $Re=2.0\times10^4$ using 2-frame grey level cross correlation PIV method especially, The separation region appears at 10 to 20 degrees angle of attack in a forward state. The separation point and boundary layer demonstrate in the same angle of attack compared it with the forward states.

  • A ship handling simulator is popular means of preventing marine accidents caused by human error. It can also be used to train navigators. A real-time 3D visualization system, a component of a ship handling simulator, is an important component, as realistic and intuitive image generation play an essential role in improving the effects of education using ship handling simulators. This paper discusses the design of a new real-time 3D visualization system based on an open source 3D graphics engine as well as its implementation. The developed real-time 3D visualization system satisfies the operational requirements derived in terms of visualization functionalities, reuse of legacy graphic data, and interoperability with other systems constituting a ship handling simulator. This system has an architecture in which new functionalities are easily added.

  • Stereo matching is one of the most active research areas in computer vision. In this paper, we propose a stereo matching scheme using genetic algorithm for object depth recognition. The proposed approach considers the matching environment as an optimization problem and finds the optimal solution by using an evolutionary strategy. Accordingly, genetic operators are adapted for the circumstances of stereo matching. An individual is a disparity set. Horizontal pixel line of image is considered as a chromosome. A cost function is composed of certain constraints which are commonly used in stereo matching. Since the cost function consists of intensity, similarity and disparity smoothness, the matching process is considered at the same time in each generation. The LoG(Laplacian of Gaussian) edge is extracted and used in the determination of the chromosome. We validate our approach with experimental results on stereo images.

  • As maritime traffic increases and ships get bigger and faster, the risk of maritime accident increases. According to the recent reports on maritime accidents, more than 80% of the maritime accidents occur due to navigational mistakes and/or human errors. Even though many kinds of navigation systems based on new technology have been developed to reduce maritime accidents, we need to research the method for expressing and providing information. The efficient navigation system should be able to display information simply and intuitively to make decision quickly and accurately. In this paper, we proposed augmented reality based navigation system which can be utilized in bridge of the ships and described the services for navigational safety.
