In this paper, a curve-fitting channel estimation method is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in a time-varying frequency-selective fading channel. The method can greatly improve channel state information (CSI) estimation accuracy by performing smoothing and interpolation through consecutive curve-fitting processes in both time domain and frequency domain. It first evaluates least-squares (LS) estimates using pilot symbols and then the estimates are approximated to a polynomial with proper degree in the LS error sense, starting from one preferred domain in which pilots we densely distributed. Smoothing, interpolation, and prediction are performed subsequently to obtain CSI estimates for data transmission. The channel estimation processes are completed by smoothing and interpolating CSI estimates in the other domain once again using the channel estimates obtained in one domain. The performance of proposed method is influenced heavily on the time variation and frequency selectivity of channel and pilot arrangement. Hence, a proper degree of polynomial and an optimum approximation interval according to various system and channel conditions are required for curve-fitting. From extensive simulation results in various channel environments, we see that the proposed method performs better than the conventional methods including the optimal Wiener filtering method, in terms of the mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER).

The common-rail injectors are the most critical component of the CRDI diesel engines that dominantly affect engine performances through high pressure injection with exact control. Thus, from now on the advanced combustion technologies for common-rail diesel injection engine require high performance fuel injectors. Accordingly, the previous studies on the numerical and experimental analysis of the diesel injector have focused on a optimum geometry to induce proper injection rate. In this study, computational predictions of performance of the diesel injector have been performed to evaluate internal flow characteristics for various needle lift and the spray pattern at the nozzle exit. To our knowledge, three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of the internal flow passage of an entire injector duct including injection and return routes has never been studied. In this study, major design parameters concerning internal routes in the injector are optimized by using a CFD analysis and Response Surface Method (RSM). The computational prediction of the internal flow characteristics of the common-rail diesel injector was carried out by using STAR-CCM+7.06 code. In this work, computations were carried out under the assumption that the internal flow passage is a steady-state condition at the maximum needle lift. The design parameters are optimized by using the L16 orthogonal array and polynomial regression, local-approximation characteristics of RSM. Meanwhile, the optimum values are confirmed to be valid in 95% confidence and 5% significance level through analysis of variance (ANOVA). In addition, optimal design and prototype design were confirmed by calculating the injection quantities, resulting in the improvement of the injection performance by more than 54%.

In this paper, we propose the Multi-FPNN(Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks) model based on FNN and PNN(Polyomial Neural Networks) for optimal system identifacation. Here FNN structure is designed using fuzzy input space divided by each separated input variable, and urilized both in order to get better output performace. Each node of PNN structure based on GMDH(Group Method of Data handing) method uses two types of high-order polynomials such as linearane and quadratic, and the input of that node uses three kinds of multi-variable inputs such as linear and quadratic, and the input of that node and Genetic Algorithms(GAs) to identify both the structure and the prepocessing of parameters of a Multi-FPNN model. Here, HCM clustering method, which is carried out for data preproessing of process system, is utilized to determine the structure method, which is carried out for data preprocessing of process system, is utilized to determance index with a weighting factor is used to according to the divisions of input-output space. A aggregate performance inddex with a wegihting factor is used to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. According to the selection and adjustment of a weighting factor of this aggregate abjective function which it is acailable and effective to design to design and optimal Multi-FPNN model. The study is illustrated with the aid of two representative numerical examples and the aggregate performance index related to the approximation and generalization abilities of the model is evaluated and discussed.

A Meshfree is a method used to establish algebraic equations of system for the whole problem domain without the use of a predefined mesh for the domain discretization. A point interpolation method is based on combining radial and polynomial basis functions. Involvement of radial basis functions overcomes possible singularity Furthermore, the interpolation function passes through all scattered points in an influence domain and thus shape functions are of delta function property. This makes the implementation of essential boundary conditions much easier than the meshfree methods based on the moving least-squares approximation. This study aims to investigate a stress analysis of structural element between a meshfree method and the finite element method. Examples on cantilever type plate, hollow cylinder and stress concentration problems show that the accuracy and convergence rate of the meshfree methods are high.
This paper considers the solution of the stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with random operator and/or random excitation using the spectral SFEM. The random system parameters (involved in the operator) and the random excitations are modeled as second order stochastic processes defined only by their means and covariance functions. All random fields dealt with in this paper are continuous and do not have known explicit forms dependent on the spatial dimension. This fact makes the usage of the finite element (FE) analysis be difficult. Relying on the spectral properties of the covariance function, the Karhunen-Loeve expansion is used to represent these processes to overcome this difficulty. Then, a spectral approximation for the stochastic response (solution) of the SDE is obtained based on the implementation of the concept of generalized inverse defined by the Neumann expansion. This leads to an explicit expression for the solution process as a multivariate polynomial functional of a set of uncorrelated random variables that enables us to compute the statistical moments of the solution vector. To check the validity of this method, two applications are introduced which are, randomly loaded simply supported reinforced concrete beam and reinforced concrete cantilever beam with random bending rigidity. Finally, a more general application, randomly loaded simply supported reinforced concrete beam with random bending rigidity, is presented to illustrate the method.
To a first approximation, phase behavior of a system becomes increasingly skew in proportion to the boiling point difference of system-forming constituents. Therefore, phase behavior data of a system of a large boiling point difference are to be experimentally measured for thorough understanding of the thermodynamic characteristics of such system. In this work, isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium of a mixture consisting of toluene and cresol, which shows a large boiling point difference of nearly $100^{\circ}C$ and is consequently expected to be considerably nonideal, was measured by using a recirculating equilibrium cell at various subatmospheric pressures ranging from 10 kPa to 60 kPa. The measured VLE data were correlated with NRTL and UNIQUAC models in a satisfactory manner and the accompanying thermodynamic consistency test represented soundness of the measurements. In addition, the excess molar volume of the mixture was also measured with a vibrating densitometer and correlated with a Redlich-Kister polynomial. A negative excess volume prevailed over the whole concentration range, which indicates a favorable attraction between toluene and cresol isomers and results in an extensive miscibility.

In this paper, special purpose arithmetic unit for mobile graphics accelerator is designed. The designed processor supports six operations, such as $1/{\chi}$, $\frac{1}{{\sqrt{x}}$, $log_2x$, $2^x$, $sin(x)$, $cos(x)$. The processor adopts 2nd-order polynomial minimax approximation scheme based on IEEE floating point data format to satisfy accuracy conditions and has 5-stage pipeline structure to meet high operational rates. The SFAU processor consists of 23,000 gates and its estimated operating frequency is about 400 Mhz at operating condition of 65nm CMOS technology. Because the processor can execute all operations with 5-stage pipeline scheme, it has about 400 MOPS(million operations per second) execution rate. Thus, it can be applicable to the 3D mobile graphics processors.

In this paper, the $arccos(cos^{-1})$ arithmetic unit for mobile graphics accelerator is designed. The mobile vector graphics applications need tight area, execution time, power dissipation, and accuracy constraints compared to desktop PC applications. The designed processor adopts 2nd-order polynomial approximation scheme based on IEEE floating point data format to satisfy speed and accuracy conditions and reduces area via hardware sharing structure. The arccosine processor consists of 15,280 gates and its estimated operating frequency is about 125Mhz at operating condition of $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Because the processor can execute arccosine function within 7 clock cycles, it has about 17 MOPS(million arccos operations per second) execution rate and can be applicable to mobile OpenVG processor. And because of its flexible architecture, it can be applicable to the various transcendental functions such as exponential, trigonometric and logarithmic functions via replacement of ROM and minor hardware modification.

TV white space (TVWS) is showing promise to become the first widespread practical application of cognitive technology. In fact, regulators worldwide are beginning to allow access to the TV band for secondary users, on the provision that they access the geolocation database. Device-to-device (D2D) can improve the spectrum efficiency, but large-scale D2D communications that underlie TVWS may generate undesirable interference to TV receivers and cause severe mutual interference. In this paper, we use an established geolocation database to investigate the power allocation problem, in order to maximize the total sum throughput of D2D links in TVWS while guaranteeing the quality-of-service (QoS) requirement for both D2D links and TV receivers. Firstly, we formulate an optimization problem based on the system model, which is nonconvex and intractable. Secondly, we use an effective approach to convert the original problem into a series of convex problems and we solve these problems using interior point methods that have polynomial computational complexity. Additionally, we propose an iterative algorithm based on the barrier method to locate the optimal solution. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has strong performance with high approximation accuracy for both small and large dimensional problems, and it is superior to both the active set algorithm and genetic algorithm.
Maximum production of isoquercetin and quercetin simultaneously from rutin by subcritical water hydrolysis (SWH) was optimized using the response surface methodology. Hydrolysis parameters such as temperature, time, and $CO_2$ pressure were selected as independent variables, and isoquercetin and quercetin yields were selected as dependent variables. The regression models of the yield of isoquercetin and quercetin were valid due to the high F-value and low P-value. Furthermore, the high regression coefficient indicated that the polynomial model equation provides a good approximation of experimental results. In maximum production of isoquercetin from rutin, the hydrolysis temperature was the major factor, and the temperature or time can be lower if the $CO_2$ pressure was increased high enough, thereby preventing the degradation of isoquercetin into quercetin. The yield of quercetin was considerably influenced by temperature instead of time and $CO_2$ pressure. The optimal condition for maximum production of isoquercetin and quercetin simultaneously was temperature of $171.4^{\circ}C$, time of 10.0 min, and $CO_2$ pressure of 11.0 MPa, where the predicted maximum yields of isoquercetin and quercetin were 13.7% and 53.3%, respectively. Hydrolysis temperature, time, and $CO_2$ pressure for maximum production of isoquercetin were lower than those of quercetin. Thermal degradation products such as protocatechuic acid and 2,5-dihydroxyacetophenone were observed due to pyrolysis at high temperature. It was concluded that rutin can be easily converted into isoquercetin and quercetin by SWH under $CO_2$ pressure, and this result can be applied for SWH of rutin-rich foodstuffs.
