폴리비닐알콜/수분산 에틸렌-아크릴산 공중합체 블렌딩 필름의 내수성 및 수분/산소 차단성 연구 (The Study of Water Resistance and Water/Oxygen Barrier Properties of Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Water-soluble Poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) Blend Films)

  • 에틸렌-아크릴산 공중합체(EAA)를 물에 분산시킨 후, 폴리(비닐 알코올) (PVA) 수용액과 블렌딩하여 내수성 및 차단성이 향상된 필름을 제조하였다. EAA의 함량에 따라 제조된 필름으로 열적-기계적 성질, 접촉각, 수분 투과율, 산소 투과율을 측정하였고 내수성에 대한 평가 실험도 진행하였다. 필름의 인장강도는 $9.16{\sim}11.75\;kg/mm^2$으로 PVA와 큰 차이가 없었으며, 경도의 경우는 EAA 함량에 따라 값이 점점 증가하였다. 유리전이 온도와 용융 온도는 약간 향상되었다. PVA/EAA의 비율이 90/10인 블렌딩 필름의 경우 Swelling 109%, Solubility 0%로 측정되어 PVA에 비하여 내수성이 개선되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, PVA/EAA의 비율이 90/10인 블렌딩 필름(두께 $2.5\;{\mu}m$)을 PET 필름(두께 $50\;{\mu}m$) 위에 코팅하여 제조된 필름의 수분투과율과 산소 투과율은 각각 $9.1\;g/m^2/day$$2.0\;cc/m^2/day$으로 측정되었다.

  • This study was conducted in order to remove Poly vinyl chloride(PVC) from the waste plastic film mixture. The fittings of Air Table was modified to increase the separation efficiency of PVC and PE(poly ethylene). PE and PVC was successfully separated from PVC-PE film mixture with the yield of PE 90% or more and with his grade of 99% or more, using the improved Air Table.   • 포장용 필름 등으로 사용되는 폴리프로필렌(PP)계 필름[PP/polyethylene(PE)/aluminum(Al)poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)]과 나일론(Nylon)계 필름[Nylon/PE/linear-low density polyethylene(LLDPE)] 등 혼합 폐포장 필름의 상용성 증진과 강인화를 위해 시판되는 여러 가지 상용화제 중 ethylene vinylacetate(EVA), styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene triblock copolymer(SEBS), styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene-graft-maleic anhydride copolymer(SEBS-g-MA), polyethylene-graft-maleic anhydride (PE-g-MA), polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride(PP-g-MA), polyethylene-graft-acrylic acid(PE-g-AA), polypropylene-araft-acrylic acid(PP-g-AA) 등을 사용하여 반응 압출 공정에 의한 기계적 물성, 유성학적 성질과 형태학적 변화를 살펴보았다. 단순 용융 블렌드와 비교하여 상용화제로 SEBS와 EVA를 사용하였을 때 약 $50\%$의 물성 향상을 보였으나 나일론의 말단기인 아민기와의 반응성 향상을 위해 무수말레인산이 그래프트된 열가소성 탄성체 SEBS-g-MA의 사용시 분산 입자의 감소 및 접촉면적의 증가에 의한 계면 접착력의 증가로 약 $200\%$ 이상의 내충격성의 향상을 이룰 수 있었다.

Lithium Ion Concentration Dependant Ionic Conductivity and Thermal Properties in Solid Poly(PEGMA-co-acrylonitrile) Electrolytes

  • The lithium ion concentration dependant ionic conductivity and thermal properties of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA)/acrylonitrile-based copolymer electrolytes with $LiClO_4$ have been studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and AC complex impedance measurements. In systems with 11 wt% of acrylonitrile all liquid electrolytes were obtained regardless of lithium ion concentration. Complex impedance measurements with stainless steel electrodes give ambient ionic conductivities $8.1\times10^{-6}\sim1.4\times10^{-4}S cm^{-1}$. On the other hand, a hard and soft films at ambient temperature were obtained in copolymer electrolyte system consists of 15 wt% acrylonitrile with 6 : 1 and 3 : 1 of [EO] : [Li] ratio, respectively. DSC measurements indicate the crystalline melting temperature of poly(PEGMA) disappeared completely after addition of $LiClO_4$ in this system due to the complex formation between ethylene oxide (EO) unit and lithium salt. As a result, free standing film with room temperature ionic conductivity of $1.7\times10^{-4}S cm^{-1}$ and high electrochemical stability up to 5.5V was obtained by controlling of acrylonitrile and lithium salt concentration.

  • This study was a preliminary investigation of the influence of surface characteristics of substrates on the detergency of particulate soil. A PET film was surface modified with NaOH and DMF for different times. The surface morphology of the film was scanned by AFM and the surface energies were calculated from the measured contact angles between several solutions and film based on a geometric mean and the Lewis acid base method. The surface morphology of the PET film treated with NaOH and DMF became more etched and swelled with an increased treatment time, respectively. The surface roughness and surface area of film treated with NaOH enlarged with increased treatment time. However, the coefficient of friction of film treated with NaOH and coefficient of friction, surface roughness, and surface area of film treated with DMF increased and then decreased with increased treatment time. The contact angle of film treated with DMF decreased with increased treatment time in water and surfactant solution; however, the effect of treatment time on the contact angle was different in both solutions for film treated with NaOH. By the treatment of PET film with NaOH and DMF, the polar group of the surface energy increased and the nonpolar group decreased; however, the change of total surface energy was not significant.

  • The electrophoretic deposition method using the suspension solution with additives under the electric potential was applied for the fabrication of YBCO superconductor wire. This method was able to simplify the fabrication facilities, and produce an uniform and dense thick film. To improve the critical current density of deposited films, the additive PEGs(Poly Ethylene Glycole) with the molecular weight of 600, 1000 and 3400, were used as chemical binders for the suspension solution. The organic additive PEG showed better effects to the properties of YBCO superconductor wire. The PEG improved the adhesion between superconductor particles and suppressed the crack on the surface, which enhanced the surface uniformity and density of YBCO deposited film. It was found that acetone suspension solution showed better deposition properties than the others. The samples fabricated in the solution with the additive, 8 vol.% of 1% PEG(1000), showed the highest critical current density measured as $2300{\sim}2400\;Acm^2$ at 77 K, 0 T.

  • Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) and nylon 6 films stretched uniaxially and biaxially were sputter etched in the presence of argon gas. The surface of the etched films was investigated using a scanning electron microscope(SEM). While cracks perpendicular to the stretched direction were observed in the uniaxil stretched films sputter etched for 30 min., many protrusions were formed in the biaxial stretched films at the height of 0.3-0.4 gm for PET and $0.1-0.2\mum$ for nylon 6. The tops of two or three protrusions merged etching time increased to 60 min. The contact angle to water of the sputter etched PET and nylon 6 films decreased steeply when etched for one to 3 min. In order to investigate chemical changes on the surface ESCA analysis was carried out. In both films sputter etched $C_{1s}$ intensity decreased and $O_{1s}$ intensity increased compared with the unetched ones.

  • 리빙 프리 라디칼 중합법은 ATRP, NMP, RAFT 등의 방법이 있으며, 지난 수 십년간 매우 빠르게 발전해 왔다. 그 중에서 RAFT 중합법은 다른 방법들에 비해 최근에 학문적으로 크게 주목 받고 있다. RAFT 중합법은 다른 리빙 프리 라디칼 중합법에 합성할 수 있는 단량체의 종류나 합성의 제한이 비교적 작아서, 다양한 기능성 고분자를 쉽게 중합할 수 있으며, 합성한 고분자의 분자량 분포 또한 좁게 만들 수 있는 장점이 있다. 따라서 RAFT 중합법을 통해 다양한 형태의 블록 공중합체, 댄드리머 등을 합성하는데 이용되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 위와 같은 RAFT 중합법을 이용해, 친수성 블록을 갖는 새로운 블록 공중합체를 합성한다. Poly(ethylene-b-styrene)와 poly(ethylene-b-metharylate-bstyrene) 같은 블록 공중합체 박막을 이용해 용매 증발법에 의한 높은 수준의 정렬도를 갖는 연구가 진행, 보고되었다. 그리고 위의 2가지 연구에서 습도가 정렬도에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 하지만 위의 연구에서 친수성 블록에 의한 영향을 명확하게 규명하지 못했다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 다른 친수성 블록을 갖는 poly(N,Ndimethylacrylamide-b-styrene)를 RAFT 중합법에 의해 합성하고, 이를 이용해 박막 내에서 용매 증발법 중의 습도에 의한 영향을 일반화하고자 한다.

Photopatternability of Poly(vinylcarbazole) Bearing Cinnamate Pendants and Its Blends with a Soluble Poly(p-phenylene vinylene) Derivative

  • Poly[(1-(9-carbazoly1)ethylene)-co-(3-cinnamoyloxyoctyl-9-carbazolyl)] ethylene (PVK-Cin) was prepared by tethering cinnamate pendants to a carbazole group via an octylene spacer. The photopatternability of the new PVK based-polymer was investigated using a photocrosslinking reaction under UV light illumination $(\lambda=254nm)$. Blends of the PVK-Cin and a soluble poly(phenylene vinylene) (CzEh-PPV) were employed to study the photocrosslinking behavior. Well resolved lithographic patterns were observed in these polymer systems. PVK-Cin produced a blue light emitting pattern both before and after the photocrosslinking reaction. The blends of PVK-Cin and CzEh-PPV also showed corresponding emissions at 398 and 525 (560) nm in the film state.
