불투수면 저감기법의 유출량 및 오염부하량 저감 효과 분석 (Analysing the effect of impervious cover management techniques on the reduction of runoff and pollutant loads)

  • 불투수면(IC)이란 빗물 등의 강수가 토양 속으로 침투할 수 없는 포장 지역이라 정의할 수 있으며, 일반적으로 도시화 과정에서 형성되는 불투수면은 주로 도로(Drive way), 인도(Sidewalk), 주차장(Parking lot), 건물의 지붕(Roof) 등의 형태로 나타난다. 불투수면의 증가는 유출계수를 증가시켜 강수의 침투량 및 지하수 수위를 감소시킨다. 이로 인해 홍수기에 직접 유출량과 홍수피해를 증가시키고, 갈수기에는 하천의 건천화를 유발하여 수생태계를 악화시킨다. 미국 환경부에서는 불투수면을 저감하기 위한 주요정책으로 LID(Low Impact Development) 또는 GI(Green Infrastructure)의 도입을 제시하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 도시 유역의 강우-유출 및 수질 해석을 위해 SWMM모형을 구축하고, 도시 유역의 대표적인 토지이용 유형에서 불투수면 영향 저감을 위한 다양한 LID 기법을 적용하고 그 효과를 평가하였다. 모형의 보정기간은 2009년 7월 17일, 검정기간은 2009년 8월 11일이며, 강우유출발생시 측정한 실측 데이터를 사용하여 검 보정을 하였다. 아파트, 학교, 도로, 공원 등으로 구성된 복합용지에 투수성 포장(Pervious cover)과 옥상녹화(Green roof)기법을 단계별로 적용하고 유출량 및 오염부하 저감에 미치는 영향을 모의한 결과, 유역 내 불투수면이 투수면으로 전환되는 비율이 증가함에 따라 강우시 발생하는 유출량과 오염물질 부하량의 저감 효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 건물 옥상 녹화 및 주차장과 도로에 투수성 포장을 적용한 경우, 총 유출량은 15~61 %의 저감효과를 보였으며, 오염부하량에 대해서는 TSS 22~72 %, BOD 23~71 %, COD 22~71 %, TN 15~79 %, TP 9~64 %의 저감효율을 나타냈다.

50%TiO2/6%WO3 졸 용액에서의 톨루엔 처리에 대한 아세톤의 광활성 증가효과 (Photolysis Improvement of Toluene in 50%TiO2/6%WO3 Sol Solutions Sensitized by Acetone)

  • Objectives: The photocatalytic degradation of toluene in a batch mode photoreactor for the purpose of the hazardous waste treatment was investigated. Methods: Kinetic experiments using a low pressure mercury lamp (Lambda Scientific Pty Ltd, 50 Watt) emitting both UV and visible light were performed at $31^{\circ}C$ over toluene concentrations ranging from 10 to 50 mg/l in water with $50%TiO_2/6%WO_3$ (TW) concentration of 1 g/l at a pH of 6. Results: Kinetic studies showed that $50%TiO_2/6%WO_3$ (TW) photocatalyst was highly active in toluene degradation; we observed that 99% of the pollutant was degraded after six hours under visible irradiation; furthermore, we observed that adsorption onto TW catalyst was responsible for the decrease of toluene with pseudo-first order kinetics. It was also found that oxygen as a radical source in the sol medium played a significant role in affecting the photodegradation of toluene, especially with a two-fold elevation. This increase was achieved by a more than four-fold elevation of the photodegradation of toluene in the presence of acetone than without, presumably via an energy transfer mechanism. Conclusions: We concluded that photodegradation in acetone and oxygen molecules along with TW was an effective method for the removal of toluene from wastewater.

AnnAGNPS 모형의 강우-유출해석력 평가 (Assessment of AnnAGNPS Model in Prediction of a Rainfall-Runoff Relationship)

  • 비점오염 발생은 강우에 의한 지표면 유출과 밀접한 관련이 있는 관계로 모형을 이용한 비점오염 해석은 먼저 유역의 강우-유출의 명확한 관계해석을 필수조건으로 한다. 본 연구는 비점오염 모의에 많이 사용되고 있는 AnnAGNPS 모형의 다양한 유역특성별 강우-유출해석능력을 평가해 보았다. 결과를 통해 AnnAGNPS 모형은 대유역 모의에 적합하며 소유역 및 강우에 대한 유역의 반응시간이 짧은 불투수층이 많은 유역에 적용하는 것은 적합하지 않은 것으로 드러났다. 특히, AnnAGNPS 모형은 모의에 사용하는 시간간격 이 일단위(daily basis)이므로 하루보다 짧은 지속시간의 복합첨두치(mutiple peak flow)를 가지는 강우사상을 표현하는 기능이 없으며 따라서 첨두유량 예측에 상당한 오차 발생의 원인으로 드러났다. 또한 유출해석에 사용되는 CN방법은 지역적인 특성에 맞게 구축된 CN정보가 없는 관계로 초기치 선택에 신중함이 요구되며, 강우의 분포형과 더불어 반드시 주요 검정대상으로 다루어져야 할 매개변수였다.

무경운 밭에서의 비점오염물질 저감효과 분석 (Analysis of NPS Pollution reduction from No-till Field)

  • Various Best Management Practices (BMPs) have been suggested to reduce soil erosion and non point source (NPS) pollutant loads from agricultural fields. However, very little research regarding water quality improvement with No-till (NT) has been performed in Korea. Thus, effects of NT were investigated in this study. The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of NT on the surface runoff and sediment discharge in a field. Eight experimental plots of $5{\times}30m$ in size and 3 % or 8 % in slope prepared on gravelly sandy loam soil were treated with Conventional-till (CT) and NT. Runoff and NPS pollution discharge were monitored and compared the treatments. The amounts of rainfall from 13 monitored events ranged from 28.7 mm to 503.5 mm. The runoff amount was reduced by 17.6~59.2 % in 3 % NT and 29.6~53.2 % in 8 % NT. The average NPS pollution loads of the 3 % NT plots and 8 % NT plot were reduced about 45.1~89.2 % and 47.7~98.0 % compared to those of the CT plots, respectively. This research revealed that NT can reduce the NPS pollution loads substantially as well as increase the crop yield. Runoff and NPS pollution loads reduction by NT method could be contribute to improve the water quality of streams in agricultural regions.

호내 부유물질 거동 분석을 통한 도암댐 운영 방안에 관한 연구 (Study on the Management of Doam Dam Operation by the Analysis of Suspended Solids Behavior in the lake)

  • The Doam lake watershed was designated as a non-point pollution management area in 2007 to improve water quality based on watershed management implementation. There have been studies of non-point source reduction with respect to the watershed management impacting the pollutant transport of the reservoir. However, a little attention has been focused on the impact of water quality improvement by the management of the dam operation or the guidelines on the dam operation. In this study, the impact of in-lake management practices combined with watershed management is analyzed, and the appropriate guidelines on the operation of the dam are suggested. The integrated modeling system by coupling with the watershed model (HSPF) and reservoir water quality model (CE-QUAL-W2) was applied for analyzing the impact of water quality management practices. A scenario implemented with sedimentation basin and suspended matter barrier showed decrease in SS concentration up to 4.6%. The SS concentration increased in the scenarios adjusting withdrawal location from EL.673 m to the upper direction(EL.683 m and EL.688 m). The water quality was comparably high when the scenario implemented all in-lake practices with water intake at EL.673 m. However, there was improvement in water quality when the height of the water intake was moved to EL.688 m during the summer by preventing sediments inflow after the rainfall. Therefore, to manage water quality of the Doam lake, it is essential to control the water quality by modulating the height of water intake through consistent turbidity monitoring during rainfall.

효과적인 오염총량관리를 위한 데스크탑 기반의 LDC 평가 시스템 개발 (Development of Desktop-Based LDC Evaluation System for Effectiveness TMDLs)

  • Load Duration Curve (LDC) can be used as a method for load management of point and non-point pollution source because the LDC easily assesses the water quality corresponding to hydrological changes in a watershed. Recently, the application of LDC to total pollution load management is a growing interest in Korea. In this regard, A desktop-based LDC assessment system was developed in this study to provide convenience to users in water quality evaluation. The developed system can simply produce the LDC by using streamflow and water quality data involved in its database. Also, The system can quantitatively inform the success or failure of the achievement for a target water quality at monthly scale. Furthermore, seasonal water quality and point/non-point pollution load in a watershed can be estimated by this system. We expect that the developed system will contribute to establish local and national policies regarding water management and total pollution load management because of its advantages such as the pollution tracking investigation and the analysis of water quality and pollution loading amount in an ungauged watershed.

섬진강 유역 농촌지역의 비점오염원 배출특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Runoff Characteristics of Non-point Source in Rural Area of Seomjin Watershed)

  • The present study investigated runoff characteristics of non-point pollutants and discharge load amount according to the land utilization in Yeinam river basin. The land utilization of target basin was divided into paddy field, dry field, forest, residential area and composition area. The study on the runoff characteristics of non-point pollutants by rainfall-runoff process showed that COD, SS and T-P had the first-flushing effect with relatively high concentration in early-stage of the rainfall-runoff process, but the T-P revealed similar runoff characteristics. Event Mean Concentration(EMC) of BOD and COD according to the land utilization revealed the range of $3.11\~15.50mg/L$ and $3.37\~33.42mg/L$, and the highest concentration of EMC corresponding to BOD and COD was detected in the paddy field. The EMC of SS showed $1.7\~305.02mg/L$ and it's highest concentration was found in the dry field. The EMC of T-N and T-P represented the highest concentration in the paddy field and dry field with range of $0.91\~8.76mg/L$ and $0.02\~0.44mg/L$.

자료동화기술을 이용한 대기중 오염물질 확산평가 (Data Assimilation Techniques Applied to Estimate the Dispersion of the Pollutant in the Atmosphere)

  • 영광부지의 추적자 확산실험결과의 자료동화를 통하여 Gaussian plume 모형의 확산인자의 수정과 추적자 방출률 평가를 수행하였다. 부지 주변의 여러 지점에서 관측한 실험결과에 선형계획법을 적용하여 확산평가에 있어선 가장 불확실성이 크다고 알려진 확산인자를 수정하였다. 원자력 비상시 초기 대응평가에 사용되는 정보 가운데 가장 큰 불확실성을 포함한 선원항 정보를 추적자 농도 분포로부터 추정하였다. 실험 당시의 추적자 방출량을 모른다고 가정하고 Gaussina plume 모형의 예측치와 확산실험의 실측치를 이용한 최소자승법을 적용하여 방출률을 추정하였다. 확산인자를 수정한 후 Gaussian plume 모형의 예측력은 방출점으로 3km 및 8km 떨어진 포집선 두 경우 모두 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 실험당시의 방출률을 모른다고 가정하고 관측지점의 농도에 최소자승법을 적용한 결과 24%이내에서 실제 방출률을 양호하게 추정하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

침출수로 오염된 퇴적점토의 역학적 특성변화 (The Change in Geotechnical Properties of the Deposited Clay Contaminated by Leachate from Waste Disposals)

  • 채취된 초기 간극수를 오염물질로 치환시킨 점토시료를 대상으로 일축압축시험, 삼축압축시험, 압밀시험을 수행하여 오염물질 성상에 따른 오염점토의 역학적 특성변화를 분석하였으며, MT3D 해석모델을 이용하여 매립지 성토제방의 점토 차수층을 통한 오염물질의 거동 특성을 파악하였다. NaCl 수용액으로 치환된 시료의 경우, 농도가 증가할수록 강도, 압축성, 투수성이 증가되었다. 침출수로 포화시킨 시료의 경우, NaCl 수용액으로 포화시킨 시료에 비해 강도, 압축성의 증가현상이 크게 나타난 반면 면모화 정도가 큼에도 불구하고 투수계수는 오히려 작게 나타났다. 오염물질 이동 해석결과, 초기 염소이온 농도가 클수록 측정농도도 커지며, 시간경과에 따라 농도는 비선형적으로 증가되었다. 농도감쇄 관계식을 유도하여 이동거리를 예측한 결과, 초기 농도가 클수록 이동거리도 크게 나타났다.

A Study on the Discharge of Volatile Organic Compounds in Indoor Air of Newly-constructed Apartment Houses

  • Because of the building is made airtight, Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) is go from bad to worse. There are many source of indoor pollution in any home. These include irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. Such immediate effects are usually short-term and treatable. In this study was measured and analyzed VOCs exposure levels and characteristic of Indoor air pollutant from new apartments in Korea. VOCs were measured indoor pre-residential and residential in new apartment and analyzed GC/MS. The concentration levels of indoor respirable TVOC were found to be higher than those of outdoor TVOC for new apartments. Before occupation, the average indoor and outdoor concentrations were 1498.61 $ug/m^3$ and 468.38 $ug/m^3$, respectively. After being occupied, the average indoor and outdoor concentration were 847.04 $ug/m^3$ and 102.84, respectively. The concentrations of TVOC in new apartments before occupation were shown in the order of Toluene(328.12 $ug/m^3$) > m,p-Xylene(163.67 $ug/m^3$) > Ethy1benzene(80.70 $ug/m^3$>o-XYlene (67.04$ug/m^3$). In addition, the TVOCs concentrations after occupation were also found in the order of Toluene (272.28 $ug/m^3$) > m.p-Xylene(121.79 $ug/m^3$) > Ethylbenzene(53.92 $ug/m^3$)>O-Xylene(24.94 $ug/m^3$). As a result, the concentrations of VOCs in new apartment houses were shown to be affected by indoor environment according activity patterns. So new apartments need to be controled in indoor air quality so that the residents can have more comfortable and healthier living environment.
