The nonpoint pollutants are originated from various land uses. Of the landuses, the development means the changes of the soil cover and the increases of imperviousness rate, which will increase the nonpoint pollutant emissions during a storm. Therefore, the Ministry of Environment in Korea has programed TPLMS(Total Pollution Load Management System) for four major large rivers to improve the water quality in rivers by controling the total pollutant loadings from the watershed area. The study area was forest landuse before development plan, however it is now changing to the resort. Some of the forest areas will be changed to parking lots, roads and buildings. The paved areas are highly polluted landuses because of high pollutant accumulation rate by vehicle activities during dry periods. Therefore, this research is achieved to determine the changes of pollutant loading rate by development plan and to provide the best management practices for controlling nonpoint pollutants.

To provide the basic information for the water quality management of the Sumjin River Basin, delivery ratios for flow duration were studied. Using the day-interval data set of discharge and water quality observed from the Chooryeong-cheon watershed, the flow-duration and discharge-load relation curves for the watershed were established, then the load-duration curve was constructed. Delivery ratios for flow duration were also developed. Delivery ratios showed wide variation according to flow conditions. In general, delivery ratio of high flow condition showed higher value reflecting nonpoint source pollution contribution from the forest dominating watershed. To resolve this problem, a regression model explaining the relation between flow rate and delivery ratio was suggested. The delivery ratios for different flow regime could be used for pollutant load estimation and TMDL (Total maximum daily load) development.

In this study, pollutant load from paddy field was estimated by regression equation from 5 to 8 in 2001. During study period, total rainfall was 511.3mm and runoff discharge was 968.71mm. Regression equation between flow rate(m3/s) and pollutant loading rate(g/s) is exponential relationship. For site 1, coefficient of determination (R2) for $COD_{cr}$, T-P, T-N were 0.7068, 0.8441, 0.6806 respectively and site 2, 0.9369, 0.8855, 0.4262 respectively. Considering unit loads, Jun was the highest valus as 13.85 $COD_{c}kg/km2/day$, 0.24 T-Pkg/km2/day, 1.22 T-Nkg/km2/day. Until study period, total $COD_{cr}$ load estimated regression equation is 19.32kg/km2/day and, T-P, T-N were 0.264, 1.88 respectively

The object of this study is to analyze the characteristics of pollutant loadings on rainy day compared with normal day in the Mangyeong catchment area of Saemangeum tidal reclaimed area. On rainy day, the concentrations of BOD, COD, T-N and T-P are smaller than those on normal day, in spite of the pollutant loading themselves are increased significantly on rainy day due to non point source pollution, such as CSOs(combined sewage overflows), runoff from agricultural land use and so on.
Runoff and water quality was monitored from a watershed with small-scale livestock production farms. To evaluate pollution potential, land use, population, the size of livestock production of each farm, and livestock management method were surveyed. Climate and stream flow data were measured. Water samples were taken periodically for base flow conditions and some storm events. Pollutant loading was estimated by flow volume and concentrations of constituents. Delivery ratio of pollutant load was determined using estimated pollutant load.

In order to control the water quality of freshwater lake in tidal reclaimed land, it is needed to evaluate accurate amount of pollutant loadings from reclaimed paddy field. This study was carried out to investigate the pollutant loading from a reclaimed paddy field. Site of the study was a paddy field located in Taeho reclaimed land, with an areas of 38.5 hectares. The runoff loadings of Total-Nitrogen, Total-Phosphorus, and Chemical Oxygen Demand were 49.5 kg/㏊/yr, 3.2 kg/㏊/yr and 154.0 kg/㏊/yr, respectively. The runoff loadings in Total-Nitrogen and Total-Phosphorus from this study were much higher values than the pollutant load factor of Total-Nitrogen and Total-Phosphorus from the paddy field published by the Ministry of Environment.

Concern about nonpoint source pollution associated with urban storm water has led to the development of new tools for better water quality planning. This paper presents an application of a geographic information system (GIS) for urban water quality study. The GIS was used to manage land use data for nonpoint source pollution modeling and to aggregate pollutant loadings within various types of geographic units. An empirical water quality model was used to estimate pollutant loadings based primarily on land use. A land use coverage was created by updating an old coverage through interpretation of recent photography. This land use coverage was also used to record all pollutant loadings for each land use polygon. Storm sewer maps were digitized and interpreted to create a coverage of storm sewer basins and sub-basins. By overlaying pollutant loadings with the sewer sub-basin layer, aggregated pollutant loadings for major sewer outfalls were calculated. Based on the loading information, critical areas of excessive pollutant loadings were located and the effectiveness of Best Management Practices (BMPs) to control pollutant loadings were evaluated.

This study was performed to investigate the stream water quality characteristics in Hengjeong Bridge Basin of Dongjin River during twelve months from October, 2010 to September, 2011. Also, pollutant loads were calculated on the basis of the water quality and runoff results. The results showed that ranges of water temperature, pH and EC were $6.2{\sim}23.90^{\circ}C$, 6.32~7.78, $84.4{\sim}126.5{\mu}S/cm$ respectively. The Concentration of DO, BOD, COD, SS, Tot-N and Tot-P were observed as 6.80~9.20 mg/L, 0.40~1.60 mg/L, 1.96~4.41 mg/L, 59.60~142.20 mg/L, 1.28~3.52 mg/L, 0.001~0.07 mg/L respectively. Tot-N showed correlativity with BOD, and Tot-P showed correlativity with SS. The runoff pollutant loading of Tot-N and Tot-P were 117.94 kg/ha and 2.06 kg/ha respectively, in Hengjeong bridge of Dongjin river watershed. In the case of the correlativity between runoff pollutant loads and concentrations, Tot-N and Tot-P show low significant relationships.
This research was conducted to understand the magnitude and nature of the stormwater emissions with the goal of quantifying stormwater pollutant concentrations and mass emission rates of pollutants. Eight highway sites in Southern California area were monitored for three years with collecting of grab and flow-weighted composite samples, rainfall and runoff flow. Generally the EMCs cannot be determined by simple statistical averaging of measured pollutant concentrations because of random characteristics of runoff quality and quantity. Therefore, this manuscripts will show a new EMC determination method. The EMC ranges of 95% confidence intervals are 102.78-216.37mg/L for TSS, 104.53-251.79mg/L for COD, 5.42-10.58mg/L for oil & grease and 2.42-10.18mg/L for TKN. The ranges of washed-off mass loading are determined to $0.06g/m^2-17.27g/m^2$ for TSS and $0.1-3.23g/m^2$for COD.

This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of pollutant loads on the water quality in the Goseong reservoir from May 2005 to October 2006. Annual total runoff at the Goseong-cheon watershed was 968.0 mm in 2005, 382.6 mm in 2006, respectively. The mean concentration of BOD, COD and SS in the stream were 2.28, 6.03, 46.97 mg/L in rainy seasons and 0.95, 2.14, 6.05 mg/L in dry seasons at SWT C sub-watershed. Total-N concentrations ranged from 2.60 to 3.18 mg/L at SWT C sub-watershed, which was generally higher than the quality standard of agricultural water (1.0 mg/L). Total-P concentrations ranged from 0.044 to 0.130 mg/L at SWT C sub-watershed. Measured pollutant loads in the SWT C sub-watershed were 36.7 kg/day of BOD, 72.3 kg/day of T-N and 2.3 kg/day of T-P in 2005 at SWT C sub-watershed, 63.9 kg/day of BOD, 82.8 kg/day of T-N and 1.1 kg/day of T-P in 2006 at SWT C sub-watershed, respectively. In the analysis of the effluent characteristics for NPS pollutants, it appeared that the loading rates of effluent from SWT C watershed were, respectively, BOD 62.3%, T-N 69.6%, T-P 71.1%, SS 70.1% during the rainy season in 2006. The calculated T-N daily pollutant loadings by the unit loading factor method from each sub-watershed were much greater than observed, but the calculated T-P daily pollutant loadings much lesser than observed.
