  • As the first assembly of the human genome was announced on June 26, 2000, we have entered post genome era. The genome sequence represents a new starting point for science and medicine with possible impact on research across the life sciences. In this review I tried to offer brief summaries of history and progress of the Human Genome Project and two major challenges ahead, functional genomics and DNA sequence variation research.

  • The Maglav system project affects communities and are usually funded by public agencies. Evaluation of this project that considerably impact whole communities requires public involvement. This specific requirement of transportation projects determines the method of their evaluation as the impacts are estimated from the transportation economic point of view. Especially evaluation criteria must reflect the needs of the interested parties and should consider all foreseeable benefits and losses caused by the Maglav project. To select evaluation criteria and evaluation method may help a decision--maker in making a best selection for a Maglav project.

  • In machining a part in CAD/CAM system, it is required that the drawing information should be automatically generated, modified, deleted, and thus be used as an general information throughout the entire manufacturing process. This research addresses basic entities(point, line, circle, arc) for design feature and combination of this features, based on GT concepts, with minimum user's manual input. This paper deals with the generalization of operating system which can cover the s parts which appears in mechanical part handbook and the basic constitutional part of sold base. The system developed shows a strong application impact on automatic process planning system of medium - size injection sold companies.

In this study, \circled1 to divided teacher's mathematical beliefs into three - absolutism, progressive absolutism, constructivism - and to search into a theoretical characteristic, \circled2 to analyze and criticize the problems of the behaviorism and to investigate a point of basic view of the constructivism on mathematics education, \circled3 to suggest teacher's a role in mathematics learning be based on the constructivism perspective .

  • In the standard specifications for the urban EMU(Electric Multiple Unit) train, there are several items to ensure safety against accidents. The 21th -23th items have much relation with the crashworthiness of the urban EMU train. In this study, the rubber- tired AGT(Automated Guide-way Transit System) under development by KRRI is numerically evaluated in a crashworthy point of view by applying the above crashworthiness items. The numerical results show the detail design of the AGT satisfies the 22th and 23th items. But the design is recommended to adopt mechanical fuses to reduce the impact accelerations with respect to the 21th item.

  • This is a testing equipment system to analyze variation of creep force according to wheel-rail tread profile, running speed of vehicle, vertical and lateral force, wheel/rail contact point, attack angle and so on. In this paper, derailment occur in stages until the change of each parameter, while reproducing the actual situation was derailed. Thus, to derail what is the most influencing factors were analyzed.

  • Excellent environmental durability and handy installation procedure as well as high specific strength and stiffness have introduced fiber-reinforced polymeric composite materials into the civil and architectural engineering field. This study presents the considerably enhanced strength characteristics of the mortal beams by being reinforced with epoxy-bonded carbon fiber sheets(CFS). Three point bending and Charpy impact tests were performed on both of bare and reinforced mortar specimens. The influences of length, and the number of reinforcing plies were investigated. Strength reduction due to pre-existent notch was lessened dramatically. The acoustic emission(AE) measurement revealed the progressive damage process in reinforced specimens.

  • Electro-magnetic clutch which is affected by elements of electric, magnetic and mechanical friction is important that it has a characteristic changes by environmental impact. Expecially, it is equipped in railroad sideway which is bleak external environment. Therefore, this paper investigated affections by temperature changes, which can make out through physical characteristics such as friction torque, minimum slipping torque, rated slipping torque of electro-magnetic dutch.
