The Visual Evaluation of Face Image according to Color Coordination of Makeup (메이크업의 컬러코디네이션에 따른 얼굴이미지의 시각적 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of eyeshadow color (brown, purple, and blue), lipstick color (red, orange, and purple), and lipstick tone(vivid, light, dull, and dark) on the makeup image. The experimental materials used for this study were sets of stimulus and response scales (7 point semantic). The stimuli were 36 color pictures manipulated with the combination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color, and lipstick tone using computer simulation. The subjects were 216 female undergraduates living in Jinju city. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program. Analyzing methods were ANOVA and Duncan test. The result of this study are as follows. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components (attractiveness and gracefulness, visibility, cuteness, and softness), Among them, the attractiveness and gracefulness and the visibility were important. Each dimensional image was affected by color coordination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color and lipstick tone. Therefore, the face image through matching eyeshadow and lipstick could be varied by the eyeshadow color, lipstick color and tones.

LiDAR Data Interpolation Algorithm for 3D-2D Motion Estimation (3D-2D 모션 추정을 위한 LiDAR 정보 보간 알고리즘)

  • The feature-based visual SLAM requires 3D positions for the extracted feature points to perform 3D-2D motion estimation. LiDAR can provide reliable and accurate 3D position information with low computational burden, while stereo camera has the problem of the impossibility of stereo matching in simple texture image region, the inaccuracy in depth value due to error contained in intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameter, and the limited number of depth value restricted by permissible stereo disparity. However, the sparsity of LiDAR data may increase the inaccuracy of motion estimation and can even lead to the result of motion estimation failure. Therefore, in this paper, we propose three interpolation methods which can be applied to interpolate sparse LiDAR data. Simulation results obtained by applying these three methods to a visual odometry algorithm demonstrates that the selective bilinear interpolation shows better performance in the view point of computation speed and accuracy.

  • This thesis presents a method for 3D modeling of facial expression from frontal and mirror-reflected multi-image. Since the proposed system uses only one camera, two mirrors, and simple mirror's property, it is robust, accurate and inexpensive. In addition, we can avoid the problem of synchronization between data among different cameras. Mirrors located near one's cheeks can reflect the side views of markers on one's face. To optimize our system, we must select feature points of face intimately associated with human's emotions. Therefore we refer to the FDP (Facial Definition Parameters) and FAP (Facial Animation Parameters) defined by MPEG-4 SNHC (Synlhetic/Natural Hybrid Coding). We put colorful dot markers on selected feature points of face to detect movement of facial deformation when subject makes variety expressions. Before computing the 3D coordinates of extracted facial feature points, we properly grouped these points according to relative part. This makes our matching process automatically. We experiment on about twenty koreans the subject of our experiment in their late twenties and early thirties. Finally, we verify the performance of the proposed method tv simulating an animation of 3D facial expression.

Photometry of MIRIS Paschen-α blobs detected in Cepheus

  • By comparing MIRIS Paschen-${\alpha}$ ($Pa{\alpha}$) Galactic Plane Survey (MIPAPS) data with Anderson's H II region catalog (the most complete Galactic H II region catalog up to date), we confirmed $Pa{\alpha}$ detections from ~50% of the H II region candidates in Cepheus (Galactic longitude from $+96^{\circ}$ to $116^{\circ}$). The detection of the hydrogen recombination line identifies these candidates as clear H II regions. If we extend this result to the whole plane, more than 1000 candidates are expected to be identified as H II regions. In this contribution, we present the results of quantitative estimations (brightness, size, etc.) for the $Pa{\alpha}$ blobs detected in Cepheus. To obtain intensity of $Pa{\alpha}$ emission line, we perform background and point spread function (PSF) matching between two filter images (line and continuum filters) as well as flux calibration.

Fractal Depth Map Sequence Coding Algorithm with Motion-vector-field-based Motion Estimation

  • Three-dimensional video coding is one of the main challenges restricting the widespread applications of 3D video and free viewpoint video. In this paper, a novel fractal coding algorithm with motion-vector-field-based motion estimation for depth map sequence is proposed. We firstly add pre-search restriction to rule the improper domain blocks out of the matching search process so that the number of blocks involved in the search process can be restricted to a smaller size. Some improvements for motion estimation including initial search point prediction, threshold transition condition and early termination condition are made based on the feature of fractal coding. The motion-vector-field-based adaptive hexagon search algorithm on the basis of center-biased distribution characteristics of depth motion vector is proposed to accelerate the search. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reach optimum levels of quality and save the coding time. The PSNR of synthesized view is increased by 0.56 dB with 36.97% bit rate decrease on average compared with H.264 Full Search. And the depth encoding time is saved by up to 66.47%. Moreover, the proposed fractal depth map sequence codec outperforms the recent alternative codecs by improving the H.264/AVC, especially in much bitrate saving and encoding time reduction.

Image Processing Based Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry for Estimating the Fault Location Close to the Applied Signal Point (케이블 내 근접 결함 추정을 위한 영상 처리 기반의 시간 주파수 영역 반사파 계측법)

  • In this paper, we propose an image processing based time-frequency domain reflectometry(TFDR) in order to estimate the fault location of a cable. The Wigner-Ville distribution is used for analysis in both the time domain and the frequency domain when the conventional TFDR estimates the fault location in a cable. However, the Winger-Ville distribution is a bi-linear function, and hence the cross-term is occurred. The conventional TFDR cannot estimate the accurate fault location due to the cross-term in case the fault location is close to the position where the reference signal is applied to the cable. The proposed method can reduce the cross-term effectively using binarization and morphological image processing, and can estimate the fault location more accurately using the template matching based cross correlation compared to the conventional TFDR. To prove the performance of the proposed method, the actual experiments are carried out in some cases.

  • This paper suggested a location-based traffic information service system using TPEG and GIS. Measurement technique, location server, applied service technique, and linkage technique with database were used to provide the location-based traffic information service. In particular, TPEG-RTM includes location information and load traffic message. The location information to be included in each message displayed a specific point, section or region limit of the load. Actually, because it was impossible to receive data using TPEG receiver, a proposed program included in this paper was used to produce an arbitrary database and read it, Also, TPEG event happened time was indicated on the map for matching test of a TPEG message and WGS84 coordinate, and finally it was verified with art example of a vehicle approaching to an event happened place.

  • A novel analytic solution has been derived for the bird-cage receiver coil of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, which is widely used in 3-dimensional medical imaging, by transforming the coil into an equivalent circuit model by using a transmission matrix-based circuit analysis. The bird-cage coil composed of N legs is divided into a cell for which input impedance is to be analyzed and the remaining N-1 cells, and then a transmission matrix corresponding to the N-1 cells is converted into a circuit to transform the 3-dimensional bird-cage coil into the 2-dimensional equivalent circuit model, which is suitable to derive the analytic solution for the input impedance. The proposed method derives directly the analytic solution for the input impedance at an arbitrary point of the coil unlike the conventional analytic solution of a bird-cage coil, so that it can be used not only for resonance frequency calculations but also for various coil characteristics analyses. Since the analytic solution agreed well with the results of computational simulations, it can be useful for the impedance matching of a coil and the analysis and the design of a multi-tune bird-cage coil.

  • This paper presents automatic LCD gamma control system using gamma curve optimization. It controls automatically gamma adjustment registers in mobile LCD driver IC to reduce average gamma error and adjusting time. The proposed gamma system contains module-under-test (MUT, LCD module), PC installed with program, multimedia display tester for measuring luminance, and control board for interface between PC and LCD module. We have developed a new algorithm using 6-point programmable matching technique with reference gamma curve. Developed algorithm and program are generally applicable for most of the LCD modules.

  • In this paper, we propose a new overlap and add speech synthesis method which demonstrates improved continuity performance. The proposed method uses a weighted phase error function and minimizes the wave discontinuity of the synthesis signal, rather than the phase discontinuity, to estimate the mid-point phase. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the continuity between the synthesized signals relative to the existing method.
