가토(家兎)의 Pasteurella성폐염(性肺炎) (Snuffles)에 관(關)한 병리학적(病理學的) 검색(檢索) (Histopathological Studies on Enzootic Pasteurellosis of Domestic Rabbits in Korea)

  • Pathological studies on the Enzootic Pasteurellosis of domestic rabbits were performed and discussed. The chief pathological findings were as follows: Grossly, pneumonic lesions were located mainly in apical and cardiac lobes. The lesions were well demarcated with unaffected surrounding tissue. The pleural surface of pneumonic lesions were usually appeared as yellowish~white fibrinous exudate and, in some cases, abscesses were also shown. Microscopically, various cellular exudates composed mainly of neutrophils, large monocytes and lymphocytes were observed in the alveolar spaces. Some alveolar spaces were filled mostly with fibrinous exudates. Occasionally, thrombosis accompanied with infarcts were encountered in pneumonic lesions. There were deposition of purulo-fibrinous exudates on the visceral pleura.

  • Antimicrobial susceptibility, plasmid profiles and distribution of toxA gene were investigated in Pasteurella multocida isolated from pneumonic lung lesions of swine. The bacteria were highly susceptible to norfloxacin, cabenicillin, enrofloxacin and chloramphenicol, but resistant to colistin, sulfamethoxawle/trimethoprime, bacitracin, streptomycin. Sixty percentage of the isolates was resistant more than 2 drugs used in this experiment and 21 strains (23.6%) were resistant more than 5 drugs. This phenomenon meant that they had highly multi-drugs resistance. In the analysis of plasmid profiles, nineteen strains (47.5%) of 40 P multocida isolates harbored plasmids, ranging from 53.3kb to 2.49kb in size and the plasmid profiles could be classified into 5 groups. However, there was no relationship between the size and the profile of plasmid and the resistance pattern of antimicrobial agents. Thirty strains of 39 P multocida isolates (77%) investigated by PCR harbored toxA gene. This result suggested involvement of the ToxA protein expressed from the gene in pneumonic pasteurellosis of swine.

영남지방 돼지에서 분리한 Pasteurella multocida의 협막혈청형 및 항균제 감수성 조사 (Capsular serogrouping and antimicrobial drug susceptibility of Pasteurella multocida isolated from Youngnam swine herds)

  • The capsular serogroupes and drug susceptibility of 111 isolates of Pasteurella multocida from pigs with atrophic rhinitis and pneumonic lesions were investigated. Of the 111 P multocida isolates, 42 were from lung lesions, 47 from nasal turbinate lesions and the remaining 22 from the nasal swabs. P multocida isolates were typed for capsular serogroupes A by hyaluronidase inhibition of capsule and D by acriflavine auto-agglutination. Most isolates(64.9%) were type A, 23.4% were type D and the remaining 11.7% were untypable. Resistance to triple sulfa(97.3%) was most frequent, followed by resistance to tiamulin(71.2%), tylosin(56.8%), streptomycin(36.9%), and neomycin(36.0%). The majority of the organisms were susceptible in order of prevalence to baytril(100%), ampicillin(98.2%), linsmycin(97.3%), colistin(97.3%), cephalothin(94.6%), gentamicin(93.7%), amikacin(92.3%), tetracycline(91.9%), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole(91.0%), and kanamycin(90.1%). No differences in drug resistance in relation to capsular serogroupes of P multocida and the origin of lesions were noted. A high prevalence of multiple drug resistance was observed and the most common resistant patterns were Sss, Tm, Ty(12.6%) and Sm, Sss, Tm, Ty(8.1%) patterns.

영남지방 돼지의 Pasteurella multocida 감염상태 및 분리균의 생화학적 특성 (Incidence of Pasteurella multocida infection in Youngnam swine herds and the biochemical properties of the organisms recovered from pigs with atrophic rhinitis and pneumonic lungs)

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the incidence of Pasteurella multocida infection in Youngnam swine herds during the period from March 1988 to February 1989 and some properties of the isolated organisms. P multocida was isolated from 22(43.1%) of 51 growing pigs of 4 to 12 weeks of age and from 8(80.0%) of 10 herds. From nasal turbinates of 102 slaughtered pigs, 47(46.1%) pigs were culture positive and pigs from 8(88.9%) of 9 herds were found to be infected with P multocida. From lungs of 101 slaughtered pigs, 42(41.6%) pigs were culture positive and the pigs from 11(91.7%) of 12 herds were found to be infected with P multocida. The majority of biochemical and cultural properties of the P multocida isolates were identical to those of the standard strains. The isolation frequencies of P multocida in relation to pig snout lesion grades of 0 to 5 were 28.6%, 41.6%, 48.0%, 50.0%, 85.7%, and 100%, respectively.

돼지 위축성 비염, 파스튜렐라성 폐렴 및 흉막폐렴 원인균의 주요 항원에 대한 IgG 와 IgY 의 상관 관계 분석 (Relationship of Antibodies in Egg Yolk and Serum against Major Antigens of Bacterial Agents in Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis, Pneumonic Pasteurellosis and Pleuropneumonia)

  • Swine respiratory diseases have induced severe economic lasses in swine industry worldwide. Therefore, several methods have been made and applied to prevent and control the diseases. However, these methods still have a problem and also induce side effects. Recently, the use of egg yolk antibody was introduced to control and prevent the diseases as one of new trials. As a study of using egg yolk antibody, antibody titers against several different antigens of major pathogens in swine respiratory diseases were compared in egg yolk and serum of hens immunized with those antigens. The titers were measured by ELISA using the antigens as coating antigens. The relationship in antibody titers between egg yolk and serum were identified by analysis of variance for linear regression. Almost of antigens used in this study showed the high relationship in antibody titers between egg yolk and serum (r = 0.87 ~ 0.93) even though the relationship in antibody titers against P. multocida A:3 IROMP was slightly low (r = 0.74)(P<0.01). These results indicated that antibody titer in egg yolk could be useful to predict the titer in serum of chicken.

  • Pasteurella multocida는 돼지에서 위축성 비염, 폐렴을 비롯한 다양한 호흡기 질환을 일으키는 병원균이다. 본 연구에서는 돼지 위축성 비염에 대한 효과적인 순수정제 백신을 개발하고자 하는 기초 연구로서 P. multocida의 외막 단백질 H에 의해 유도되는 방어적 항체와 면역을 확인하였다. P. multocida의 외막 단백질을 포함하는 분획은 호흡기 질병 혼합 백신에 대한 항혈청과 불활화된 사균 세포에 대한 항혈청 모두에서 면역학적으로 검출 가능하였다. 선행 연구에서 분리한 외막 단백질 H 유전자는 재조합 발현 백터 제작에 이용되어 대장균으로부터 재조합 외막단백질 H를 정제하였다. 실험 동물 면역과 항혈청의 교차반응, ELISA를 통한 항체 역가의 측정 및 공격접종을 통하여, 재조합 외막 단백질 H는 높은항원성을 가지며, 지속적인 체액성 면역을 유도하는 것을 확인하였다. 외막 단백질 H는 순수정제 항원으로서 P. multocida에 의한 호흡기 질환에 대한 효과적인 방어를 유도할 수 있는 단위 백신 후보 단백질로 여겨진다.

포유 및 이유자돈의 질병발생 동향 (Investigation of diseases incident to pre- and pos-weaning piglets)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the tendency of incident diseases in pre- and post- weaning piglets which ages were 1 to 7 weeks old by laboratory diagnosis and in order to minimize death in preweaning piglets and of stunted growth in postweaning piglets. The result of this experiment used as the basic data for the preventive programs in pre- and post- weaning piglets and were as follows: 23 different diseases diagnosed in 331 cases were studied in relation to age, season, and etiology. The most prevelent diseases of pre- and post- weaning piglet were Colibacillosis(79 case, 23.9%) and the major diseases were Salmonellosis(44 cases, 13.3%), Anemia(37 cases, 11.2%). Unknown viral disease(20 case, 6.1%), Rota viral infection(19 case, 5.8%), Porcine reproductive & respiratory syndrome(PRRS; 15 case 4.5%), Transmissible gastroenteritis(TGE; 12 case, 3.6%). The gastrointestinal disease, such as Colibacillosis, Salmonellosis, Swine dysentery, Clostridial infection, Rotaviral infection, TGE, Porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED) and Ballantidiosis occured pro- dominently in the period of pre- and post- weaning, which were 178 cases(53.8%) and not related to occurrence according to age and season. The respiratory diseases were Atrophic rhinitis(AR), Swine enzootic pneumonia, Pneumonic pasteurellosis, Pleuropneumonia, Branchopneumonia, PRRS and which were 48 cases(14.5%) and higher prevalent in spring and summer. The viral diseases was 73 cases(22.1%) that occurred in the period of 5 weeks piglet and prevalent mainly in spring. The bacterial diseases were 188 cases(56.8%) that were not related to occurrence according to age and season. Salmonellosis was prevalent in 3 to 5 weeks piglet and mainly occurred in summer. Viral septicemia and rotaviral infection occurred after 5 weeks piglets intensively and 3 to 5 weeks, respectively. And the both occurred without relation with season. PRRS occurred after 4 weeks piglet and prevalent in summer. TGE occurred 1 to 7 days old piglets and prevalent in spring and winter. Hematologic values of anemia was decrease in number of Red Blood Cell, concentration of Hemoglobin and Hematocrit. Amikacin, cephalothin, colistin, norfloxacin were effective to E coli, and amikacin, cephalothin, nortloxacin, neomycin were effective to Salmonellra spp. but clindamycin, erythromycin, penicillin, sulfonamides were resistant to E coli and Salmonella spp.
