This paper describes the design process of a 3-component load cell with a multiple parallel plate structure which may be used to measure transverse forces and twisting moment simultaneously. Also we have derived equations to predict the bending strains on the surface of the beams in the multiple parallel plate structure under transverse force or twisting moment. It reveals that the bending strains calculated from the derived equations are in good agreement with the results from finite element analysis and experiment. Also we have evaluated the rated output and interference error of each component, which can be efficiently used to design a 3-component load cell with a multiple parallel plate structure.

There is a purpose of this study for the proposal of the optimum technique utilized for the vibration design initial step. The stiffened plate structure for the ship hull is made for analysis model. To begin with, dynamic characteristics of stiffened plate structure is analysed using FEM. Main vibrational mode of the structure is decided in the analytical result of FEM. The simplified equation on the natural frequency of the main vibrational mode is induced. Next, sensitivity analysis is carried out using the simplified equation, and rate of change of dynamic characteristics is calculated. Then, amount of design variable is calculated using this sensitivity value and optimum structural modification method. The change of natural frequency is made to be an objective function. Thickness of panel, cross section moment of stiffener and girder become a design variable. The validity of the optimization method using simplified equation is examined. It is shown that the result effective in the optimum modification for natural frequency of the stiffened plate structure.
Flat plate structures are designed in the form of long span due to the development of construction materials and the improvement of construction technology. However, a high-rise structure of a flat plate of 50 less floors is constructed without detailed review of the inequality shortening, long-term deflection of the slab, and cracks. Therefore, it is possible to examine the case of defects in the structure due to deformation and damage of non-structures such as crack and leak, deflection of the door frame, and deformation of equipment ducts. In this study, it is a high-rise structure, and the inequality shortening and long-term deflection of the slab of the flat plate structure were evaluated through finite element analysis, and it was confirmed that prior precision analysis and correction during construction is necessary.
It is important to compute the structural analysis of plate structures in structural design. In this paper, the author uses the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method (FE-TSCM) for the structural analysis of plate structures. The FE-TSCM is based on the concept of the successive transmission of the transfer stiffness coefficient method and the modeling technique of the finite element method (FEM). The algorithm for in-plane structural analysis of a rectangular plate structure is formulated by using the FE-TSCM. In order to confirm the validity of the FE-TSCM for structural analysis of plate structures, two numerical examples for the in-plane structural analysis of a plate with triangular elements and the bending structural analysis of a plate with rectangular elements are computed. The results of the FE-TSCM are compared with those of the FEM on a personal computer.

In this study, the equivalent plate model is developed using a finite element method(FEM) based on the first order shear deformation theory(FSDT). The substructure synthesis method is used to consider the control surface. For the verification of the equivalent model, the results of free vibration analysis are compared with the ones of 3D wing structure modeled by using the MSC/NASTRAN.
Finite Element Method(FEM) is one of the most popularly used method in analyzing the dynamic behaviors of structures. But unless the number of finite elements is large enough, the results from FEM are somewhat different form exact analytical solutions, especially at high frequency range. On the other hand, as the Spectral Element Method(SEM) deals directly with the governing equations of structures, the results from this method cannot but be exact regardless of any frequency range. However, despite two dimensional structures are more general, the SEM has been applied only to the analysis of one dimensional structures so far. In this paper, therefore, new methodologies are introduced to analyze the two dimensional plate structure using SEM. The results from this new method are compared with the exact analytical solutions by letting the two dimensional plate structure be one dimensional and showed the dynamic responses of two dimensional plate by including various waves propagated into x-direction.
The present study proposes a new structure for a flat plate heat pipe which could embody a thin thickness, any shapes and high heat density a unit area. It is on the structure for the formation of vapor passages and the support of the case of the flat plate heat pipe. A screen mesh is used as the one. To verify the validity of the one, the flat plate heat pipe of 1.08mm thickness was made with a layer of the screen mesh with 14 and 100 mesh number respectively and tested. Here the screen mesh with 14 mesh number plays a role of the vapor passage and the support of the case and the screen mesh with 100 mesh number functions as the wick structure. T he results show that the screen mesh excellently carries out the function of the vapor passage and the support of the case.
The performance of vibration-based damage detection methods is dependent upon the accuracy of modal parameters measured from structures of interest. Vibration monitoring, performed on a structure under uncertain temperature conditions, results in the uncertainty in model parameters of the structure. In this study, an experiment on the effect of various temperatures on modal characteristics of steel plate-girders is presented. First, the model plate-girder used for the experiment is described. Second, natural frequencies measured from the structure, using two different excitation sources, are described. Third, natural frequencies measured from the structure, under various temperatures, are described. Finally, the relationship between measurement temperature and natural frequency is analyzed.
This paper has the object of investigating natural frequencies of thick plates on inhomogeneous Pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing kinematic design data lot mat of building structures. This analysis was applied for design of substructure on elastic foundation. Mat of building structure may be consisdered as a thick plate on elastic foundation. Recently, as size of building structure becomes larger, mat area of building structure also tend to become target and building structure is supported on inhomogeneous foundation. In this paper, vibration analysis or rectangular thick plate is done by use or serendipity finite element with 8 nodes by considering shearing strain of plate. The solutions of this paper are compared with existing solutions and finite element solutions with 4${\times}$4 meshes of this analysis are shown the error of maximum 0.083% about the existing solutions. It is shown that natrural frequencies depend on not only Winkler foundation parameter but also shear foundation parameter.
