There emerge debates in education and academy due to the plans for reforms of 2009 curriculum and 2014 university entrance exam, recently announced by the Korean Ministray of Education, Science and Technology. The plans particularly include reduction of geography on school curriculum. The plans reflect government's ignorance of the importance of geographic education. The paper aims to suggest re-thinking of the importance of geography as academic discipline and the necessity of geographic education.

The purpose of this study is to analyze lesson plans from third to sixth grades of science and to find out teaching strategies in respects of learning functions provided by preservice elementary teachers in education university. On the whole, to control students' learning process preservice teachers used more shared-regulation strategy than strong teacher-regulation one. Teaching activities for regulative learning function were most used in strategy of strong teacher-regulation, and in strategy of shared-regulation those for cognitive learning functions were most used. But teaching activities for affective learning functions were used a little considered in both teaching strategies. In introduction step of instruction, affective and regulative learning functions were more instructed by strong teacher-regulation strategy and cognitive learning functions were more instructed by shared-regulation strategy. The affective, cognitive, and regulative learning functions were largely planned by shared-regulation teaching strategy in development. The regulative learning functions were planned by strong teacher-regulation strategy than by shared-regulation strategy and affective learning functions were considered a little bit in consolidation. There was a tendency that strong teacherregulation strategy was increased in lessons for fifth and sixth grade.

In recent years, the speed of a train has been recognized as one of the important factors to determine the competitiveness as a mean of transportation. In line with this, infrastructure improvements and enhancements are being made with increases in the speed of train. Accordingly, there is a need to establish plans for infrastructure improvements through a comprehensive analysis of signals, track/civil engineering, catenary and environment, etc. to improve the speed of a train of high-speed train service sections in Korea. This study proposes improvement plans for catenary systems by investigating the possibility of improvements through performance analysis of catenary equipment by speed increase based on the analysis on catenary systems in Gyeongbu high-speed line, and analysis the applicability of catenary improvements and economic feasibility.

The study first reviewed the significance, enactment process, and future challenges for growth of the Environmental Education Promotion Act first proclaimed in Korea in March, 2008. Then it sorted out the drafts about the plans for the overall growth of environmental education, which were researched and developed in the national level Environmental Education Master Plan based on the act, their major tasks in each field, and research plans to be promoted. Its findings will provide reference to the efficient operation of the act and the plans for the overall growth of environmental education.

The purpose of this study is to analyze systematically the characteristics and types of contemporary houses and to offer information concerning houses based on web database. This study deals with single-unit Korean houses designed by modern architects, which appeared in architectural periodicals and books published since 1990. This study sets three analysis criteria : general characteristics, morphological characteristics and functional characteristics of houses. Also, the web database including analysis contents is constructed to attain various information of the houses and results. The process of constructing the web database and the search method for house information retrieval are described. It is concluded that contemporary houses show various aspects of their plans in certain specific types. By using web database we obtained various analysis on house plan. This study investigated practicality of web database in architecture, interior design and house studies, and the types of contemporary house plans are revealed as well.

The investigation of the apartment housing as a dwelling type has become the most important and popular research subject to understand the housing culture in Korea. In their methods of typological analysis, it is found that most studies represent each unit plan as a simplified architectural drawing. This type of typology, however, has difficulties in processing a large scale of data set because each representation of a plan contain too many informations. To deal with this problem, this study suggests a new graph-theoretical method by which apartment plans can be represented in a more simple and effective way. This new method is also tested against the sample plans from Gangnam-gu area in Seoul to reveal the design logic hidden in plan configuration. Through a series of analyses, it is verified that there exist a design strategy that guides the particular pattern of zoning and allocation of each room in the plan.

Hospital Architectures in Korea are continuously erected to old-fashioned design, such as a large self-sufficient, but cost-inefficient hospital, in spite of rapidly changing social and healthcare environment. However, changes are slowly coming from inside of itself. This paper analyzed block plans of 7 best Korean hospitals which constructed in recent 20 years in aspects of the purpose of erection, departmental composition, areal composition, mass design and functional zoning of block plans and then, presented the directions of new design trends of hospital architecture in Korea. It is anticipated that hospital architecture will change immensely in the enlarging process of these minor changes.

System safety management to secure complicated system safety such as railway and nuclear includes various factors. Those are prevention of accidents, faults management, human factor, men-machine relation, organization factor, safety culture, quality/quantity safety performance goal, and safety regulations. To manage them, it is required that database which is based on most analysis is established. Therefore system safety could be controlled. This research defines data required to safety management, and that is aimed at deriving plans in order to establish them as database. To accomplish that, safety information management of other systems such as aviation and marine is reviewed. Also, the present conditions of available data in the filed of domestic railway are analysed, and then it provides plans for. establishing database to build up advanced railway system safety information management systems.

As the information technology advances and the number of internet users increase, the electronic commerce has been discussed actively in the academic and industrial circles. Though the reference model is important as a guide to the study on electronic commerce at this time, current studies on the reference model are inclined to emphasize on the specified area, not on overall area. In this respect, this paper aims to provide the synthetic reference model - named the ECGR model(Electronic Commerce Generic Reference model) - and its application plans. First, for these purposes, several frameworks and reference models of electronic commerce are compared and analyzed from the various viewpoints. Second, several factors for the development of the reference model are proposed. Finally, the ECGR model is developed and its application plans are suggested. The ECGR model provides a conceptual and analytical apparatus to interpret the profound understanding of electronic commerce and presents the fundamental framework related to the electronic commerce projects. According to the expansion of electronic commerce and the development of related information technology, the ECGR model must be modified.

That the arbitration will begin with an arbitrator to be done by the arbitrator is not too much to say. The arbitrator shall have a decisive influence on the outcome of an arbitration in any arbitral right to award arbitration. As demonstrated in sayings like "Good arbitration is a good arbitrator" and "Arbitration is as arbitrator", professionalism and fairness are the basis for the arbitration procedure. Parties qualifications and authority of the arbitrator shall be a dispute-resolution process, requiring special attention and special care because the careful review of the arbitration award itself exerts a significant influence on the selection of an arbitrator. Therefore, this paper, first, analyzes the meaning of international arbitrators as a general overview of international arbitrators, qualifications, etc. and looks for focuses of the role. Next, the purpose of this paper is to seek ways to expand trade and international arbitration institutions in international transactions by examining training plans such as for international arbitrators.
