  • The moving vehicle with disturbances has the 6 dof motion in the pitching, yawing and rolling directions of two independent axes. The control system in such a moving vehicle has to perform disturbance rejection well. The paper presents PID controller with disturbance rejection function, low sensitivity filter and notch filter for the bending frequency rejection. The performance of a designed system has been certified by the simulation and experiment results.

  • This paper designs a digital controller by making use of the $H^{\infty}$ control algorithm and $\mu$-synthesis in order to keep a balance of the VTOL(Vertical Take Off and Landing Plane) vehicle with 4 fans. A identification of the actual model is acquired by the vehicle rolling, pitching and yawing angles for a pseude-random signal input and various identification theories. In spite of parameter variations and existing disturbances, the designed controller showes its robust performance through simulations and experiments.

  • This work conducts a validation study for loads analysis of the UH-60A slowed rotor at high advance ratios. The nonlinear flexible multibody dynamics analysis code, DYMORE II, is used with a freewake model for the rotorcraft comprehensive analysis. Wind tunnel test data of airloads and structural loads of a full-scale UH-60A slowed rotor are used for this validation study. This analysis predicts well the thrust reversal phenomenon at the advance ratio of 1.0. The section airloads such as normal forces and pitching moments and the oscillatory blade structural moments in this analysis are compared well or moderately with the measured data, although the higher harmonics components of blade torsion moments are not captured well. This validation study assesses the prediction accuracy and investigates the unique aeromechanics characteristics of a slowed rotor at high advance ratio.

  • This paper presents a double excited three degree-of-freedom (3DOF) motor. The proposed 3DOF motor is designed with a laminated structure, making it easy to manufacture. In addition, it has windings on the stator and rotor, and does not require an expensive permanent magnet. We explain the structure, principle of motion, and design of the proposed motor, and perform an analysis of the static characteristics using the two- and three-dimensional finite element methods (3D FEM). The feasibility of 3D FEM analysis is confirmed by comparing the 3D FEM analysis and experimental results for the rolling and pitching motion. We also confirm the occurrence of holding torque in every motion.

  • This paper investigates effects of reaction control jet on the aerodynamic performance of generic interceptor missile operating at supersonic flight condition. Parallelized CFDS code is used as a viscous flow solver. The generic interceptor missile configuration composed of a long and slender body and fixed tail fins. The behavior of normal force, axial force and pitching moment characteristics at altitude conditions corresponding to 10 km is studied according to the given control jet conditions, different angle of attacks based on the analysis of aerodynamic characteristics.

  • The recently-developed automated vessels require a system which evaluates the operating conditions of the ship at present position from weather information as well as sensors ; forecasting the operations condition in the state to come in foreseeable future ; and suggests the optimum course and speed for ship's safety. According to a study, deck wetness, propeller racing, slamming. rolling, vertical acceleration, lateral acceleration, vertical bending moment at midship etc. were chosen as the factors for evaluating seakeeping performance. As a matter of act, there is no developing the hardware of a system which could consider all the factors on seakeeping performance. This study introduces a theoretical method which makes it possible to evaluate the seakeeping performance by applying a theory from reliability engineering, and thereby establishing a safety space. The author adopts rolling and pitching as the factors on seakeeping performance by clarifying the correlation of stochastic processes the factors presently adopted for evaluation system in consideration of the safety of human being, cargoes and the ship. This method of evaluation shall be of much use in developing the practical system of seakeeping performance of a ship in waves.

  • The motion of a small boat in seas is affected in relatively higher degrees than the case of a larger ship by the specific characteristics of sea waves, i.e., the wave length and height. Ship's motion caused by sea waves is a matter of special importance to small fishing boats, because they carry out fishing job in rough seas frequently. This is an experimental study on the rolling and pitching motions of full scale ship. In the experiment, the ship's motions were measured for head, how, beam, quarter and following seas. The experiment were carried out on board the training ship Pusan 404(160 GT) in the adjacent waters off NAM HYENG JAE DO on Dec. 13th 1994. The sea condition during the measurements was that wave height 2.5m, no swell and the wind velocity of 12 m/sec. Some statistic considerations were given to the observed data by the series analysis methods and discussed in this paper.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the batting characteristics in elite baseball players. Seven skilled collegiate players hit the ball which was thrown by a pitching machine linearly and strongly to the center of the field. Time, velocity, angle and pound reaction force variables were measured by using high-speed video cameras and pound reaction force analyzer. The results were as follows: 1. The elite players finished their stride performance in a short time and they stayed longer in a swing phase. The increases in the range of trunk rotation were associated with the delay of the swing phase. 2. The 'take-back' phenomenon in the trunk was showed after the stride phase. 3. The down swing demonstrated powerful line drives. 4. Equivalent body weights were placed on both feet during the ready phase. 95% of the body weights were moved to the rear foot during the stride phase, whereas the body weights were driven to the front foot during the swing phase. 95% of the body weights were placed on the front foot at impact.

  • Roll and pitching motions of a vessel can seriously degrade the performance of mechanical systems and the effectiveness of personnel. Many studies on roll stabilization and trimming control system design have focused on stabilizing the vessel through the use of fins, tanks, rudders and flaps. However the ultimate objective of such approaches must be to improve boarding sensitivity. This paper presents an anti-seasickness bed that consists of a rotator and bearing system that does not make use of electric power. The advantages of this system are its simple construction, usefulness, and safe operation. In this study, the rotation angles of the upper plate of a bed according to change weight of the rotator have been calculated to determine the stability. As a result, it can be concluded that proposed stabilizing bed can be of practical use in the field.

  • As choosing proper length of boom of container crane according as sort of vessels(18, 22, 24 columns and so on), reinforcing of capacity of DC motor to transport heavy loads, it´s structure being oversized with flexibility and durability, the study is progressing on the automation for convenient operation and effective control. We often cannot but work slowly caused by swaying(pitching, rolling) of vessel. We can get productivity and efficiency by getting over it. The factors of swaying, as fellow; - wave caused by vessels around moving - wind and wave caused by weather change - vessel´s moving by change of load weight - tide - move of vessel According to ...
