The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of reducing of craniofacial radiation dose using automatic exposure control (AEC) technique in the 64 multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT). We used SOMATOM Definition 64 multi-detector CT, and head of whole body phantom (KUPBU-50, Kyoto Kagaku CO. Ltd). The protocol were helical scan method with 120 kVp, 1 sec of rotation time, 5 mm of slice thickness and increment, 250 mm of FOV, $512{\times}512$ of matrix size, $64{\times}0.625\;mm$ of collimation, and 1 of pitch. The evaluation of dose reducing effect was compared the fixed tube current of 350 with AEC technique. The image quality was measured the noise using standard deviation of CT number. The range of craniofacial bone was to mentum end from calvaria apex, which devided three regions: calvaria~superciliary ridge (1 segment), superciliary ridge~acanthion (2 segment), and acanthion~mentum (3 segment). In the fixed tube current technique, CTDIvol was 57.7 mGy, DLP was $640.2\;mGy{\cdot}cm$ in the all regions. The AEC technique was showed that 1 segment were 30.7 mGy of CTDIvol, 340.7 $mGy{\cdot}cm$ of DLP, 2 segment were 46.5 mGy of CTDIvol, $515.0\;mGy{\cdot}cm$ of DLP, and 3 segment were 30.3 mGy of CTDIvol, $337.0\;mGy{\cdot}cm$ of DLP. The standard deviation of CT number was 2.622 with the fixed tube current technique and 3.023 with the AEC technique in the 1 segment, was 3.118 with the fixed tube current technique and 3.379 with the AEC technique in the 2 segment, was 2.670 with the fixed tube current technique and 3.186 with the AEC technique in the 3 segment. The craniofacial radiation dose using AEC Technique in the 64 MDCT was evaluated the usefulness of reducing for the eye, the parotid and thyroid with high radiation sensitivity particularly.

A new propeller series is developed using the newly developed blade section(KH18 section) which behaves better cavitation characteristics and higher lift-drag ratio at wide range of angle-of-attack. The pitch and camber distributions are disigned in order to have the same radial and chordwise loading distribution with the selected circumferentially averaged wake input. Since the geometries of the series propeller, such as chord length, thickness, skew and rate distribations, are selected by regression of the recent full scale propeller geometric data, the performance prediction of a propeller at preliminary design stage can be mure realistic. Number of blades of the series propellers is 4 and the expanded blade area ratios are 0.3, 0.45, 0.6 and 0.75. Mean pitch ratios are selected as 0.5, 0.65, 0.8, 0.75 and 1.1 for each expanded area ratio. The new propeller series is composed of 20 propellers and is named as KD(KRISO-DAEWOO) propeller series. Propeller open water tests are performed at the experimental towing tank, and the cavitation observation tests and fluctuating pressure measurements are carried out at the cavitation tunnel of KRISO. $B_{P}-\delta$ curves, which can be used to select the optimum propeller diameter at the preliminary design stage, are derived from a regression analysis of the propeller often water test results. The KD-cavitation chart is derived from the cavitation observation test results by choosing the local maximum lift coefficient and the local cavitation number as parameters. The caviy extent of a propeller can be predicted more accurately by using the KD-cavitation chart at a preliminary design stage, since it is derived from the results of the cavitation observation tests in the selected ship's wake, whereas the existing cavitation charts, such as the Burrill's cavitation chart, are derived from the test results in uniform flow.

Breathing is the voice's driving force and also acts as a regulator of larynx function and efficiency. Respiratory distress is a side effect of general anesthesia in thyroid surgery. Therefore, this study's objective was to provide practical and complementary information for voice recovery after thyroid surgery, based on aerodynamic evaluation pre- and post-thyroidectomy. From May 2014 to July 2015, aerodynamic evaluations were performed on 34 female patients diagnosed with thyroid papillary cancer one week before surgery (PRE), one month after surgery (P1), and three months after surgery (P3). The Phonatory Aerodynamic System (model 6600, KayPENTAX, USA) was employed for this purpose, and a total of 29 analysis parameters were selected. The results showed statistically significant differences in peak expiratory airflow (p=0.004), mean pitch (p<0.01), expiration airflow duration (p=0.001), and expiratory volume (p=0.018), based on time factors. In the comparison of time factors, peak expiratory airflow and mean pitch parameters were different in PRE-P1 and PRE-P3. Expiration airflow duration and expiratory volume parameters were different in PRE-P3 and P1-P3. The interaction effect of time and surgical range was significant only for expiratory volume (p=0.024). Female patients who undergo thyroidectomy require post-operative breathing training, and exhalation improvement is considered to reflect a positive lifestyle after surgery.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate geometrical and volumetrical changes of liver due to breathing and its impact to NTCP. In order to attain better treatment results it should be considered deliberately during planning session. Mehtods and Materials : Seven patients were examined in this study who have done TACE for accurate tumor margin drawing. After contrast media injection, C-T scan data were obtained in supine position during breathing free, inhalation and exhalation, respectively. For all patients C-T scan were done with same scanning parameters- 5 mm index, 5 mm thickness and pitch 1. Based on C-T data we have measured differences of each variables between breathing status such as changes of total and remained liver volumes, GTV, beam path length and superior to inferior shift. NTCP were calculated using Lyman's effective volume DVH reduction scheme and for this NTCP calculation, the V50 was computed from DVH and each m, n value were referred from Burmans data. Results : The measured total tilter volume and the remained liver volume changed between inspiration and expiration about $1.2-7.7\%(mean+2.7\%)$ and $2.5-13.23\%(mean=5.8\%)$ respectively, and these results were statistically significant(p>0.1). The GTV difference in each patient varied widely from $1.17\%\;to\;30.69\%$, but this result was not statistically significant. Depending on the breathing status, the beam path length was changed from 0.5 cm to 1.1 cm with the average of 0.7 cm, and it was statistically significant(p=0.006). The measured superior to inferior shifts were ranged from 0.5 cm to 3.74 cm. The NTCPs were changed relatively small in each patient, but the variation was large between the patients. The mean NTCP difference was $10.5\%$, with the variation ranged from $7\%\;to\;23.5\%$. Conclusion : Variations of liver volume and of beam path length were changed significantly depending on the breathing statues and the range of variation itself was very different between the patients. Since this variance could seriously affect the clinical outcomes of radiation treatments, the breathing of patients need to be accounted when a final treatment planning is derided.
A new hydroxypropyl chitosan capable of forming a thermotropic liquid crystalline phase and two kinds of derivatives based on the hydroxypropyl chitosan (6-cholesteryloxycarbonylpentoxypropyl) chitosans (CHPCTs) and acrylic acid esters of CHPCT (CHPCTEs) were synthesized. The crosslinked films with liquid crystalline order were also prepared by photocrosslinking CHPCTE in mesophase. The liquid crystalline properties for all the samples and the swelling behavior of the crosslinked samples in acetone were investigated. In contrast with the hydroxypropyl chitosan, all the uncrosslinked cholesteryl-bearing samples farmed monotropic cholesteric phases with left-handed helicoidal structures and exhibited reflection colors over the full cholesteric range. This is the first report of a thermotropic cholesteric liquid crystalline chitosan derivative with reflection bands in the visible region. Both the optical pitches (λ$\_$m/'S) of CHPCT and CHPCTE decrease with temperature or with cholesteryl content at a given temperature. However, the λ$\_$m/ of CHPCT was larger than that of CHPCTE at the same temperature and at the same cholesteryl content. All the crosslinked samples did not display reflection colors, indicating that the cholesteric structure of CHPCTE significantly changes upon crosslinking. The two-dimentional anisotropic swelling characteristic of liquid crystalline networks was observed for all the crosslinked samples.
Fully or nearly fully(8-cholesteryloxycarbonyl)heptanoated polysaccharide derivatives were synthesized by reacting cellulose, amylose, chitosan, chitin, alginic acid, pullulan or amylopectin with (8-cholesteryloxycarbonyl)heptanoyl chloride (CH8C), and their thermotropic liquid crystalline behaviors were investigated. Like in the case of CH8C, all the polysaccharide derivatives formed monotropic cholesteric phases with left-handed helicoidal structures whose optical pitches $({\lambda_m}'s)$ decrease with increasing temperature. Amylopectin derivative also formed a monotropic cholesteric phase with lefthanded helicoidal structures but, in contrast with the other derivatives, did not display reflection colors over the full cholesteric range, suggesting that the helicoidal twisting power of the cholesteryl group highly depends on the branched structure in amylopectin. The thermal stability and degree of order in the mesophase, the magnitude of ${\lambda}_m$ at the same temperature, and the temperature dependence of the ${\lambda}_m$ observed for polysaccharide derivatives were entirely different from those reported for the polymers in which the cholesteryl groups are attached to flexible or semiflexible backbones through flexible spacers. The results were discussed in terms of the difference in the chemical structures of the main and side chains and flexibility of the main chain.
Fully cholesteryloxycarbonated and (8-cholesteryloxycarbonyl) heptanoated disaccharide derivatives were synthesized by reacting cellobiose, maltose, and lactose with cholesteryl chloroformate or 8- cholesteryloxycarbonylheptanoyl chloride, and their thermotropic liquid crystalline properties were investigated. All the cholesteryloxycarbonated derivatives (CH1DSs) formed enantiotropic cholesteric phases, whereas all the (8-cholesteryloxycarbonyl) heptanoated derivatives (CH8DSs) exhibited monotropic cholesteric phases with left-handed helicoidal structures whose optical pitches (${\lambda}m's$) decrease with increasing temperature. All the CH1DSs, contrast with the CH8DSs, did not display reflection colors over the full cholesteric range, suggesting that the helicoidal twisting power of the cholesteryl group highly depends on the length of the spacer joining the cholesteryl group to the disaccharide chain. The thermal stability and degree of order in the mesophase and the temperature dependence of the ${\lambda}m$ observed for EH8DSs were entirely different from those reported for the cholesterol-bearing dimers and triplet and the (8-cholesteryloxycarbonyl) heptanoated polysaccharide derivatives. The results were discussed in terms of the difference in the number of the mesogenic units per mole of repeating unit and the flexibility of the main chain.
Three kinds of amylose derivatives such as: cholesteryloxycarbonated amyloses(CAMs) with degree of esterification(DE) ranging from 1.8 to 3, (6-cholesteryloxycarbonyl)pentanoated amyloses(PAMs) with DE ranging from 0.3 to 3, and fully cholesteryloxycarbonated PAMs(CPAMs) were synthesized, and their thermotropic liquid crystalline properties were investigated. CAMs with $DE{\geq}2.6$, PAM with DE=1.6 and all the CPAMs formed enantiotropic cholesteric phases, whereas PAM with $DE{\geq}2.2$ exhibited monotropic cholesteric phases. PAM with $DE{\geq}2.2$ and CPAMs with (6-cholesteryloxycarbonyl)pentanoyl DE (DS) more than 1.0 formed cholesteric phases with left-handed helical structures whose optical pitches (${\lambda}_{m'}s$) decrease with increasing temperature. However, the ${\lambda}_{m'}s$ of these samples decreased with increasing DS at the same temperature. On the other hand, CAMs, PAM with DE=1.6, and CPAM with DS=0.3 did not display reflection colors over the full cholesteric range, suggesting that the helicoidal twisting power of the cholesteryl group highly depends on the length of the spacer joining the cholesteryl group to the main chain and DS. The thermal stability and degree of order in the mesophase observed for the amylose derivatives highly depended on DE or DS. The results were discussed in terms of the difference ul the hydrogen bond, the internal plasticization, and the decoupling of the motion of side group with the main chain.

There are very few numbers of 115K FPP (Fixed Pitch Propulsion) Tankers for the Baltic ice class IA because the minimum power requirement of FMA (Finish- Swedish Maritime Association) needs quite large engine power and the 40 m Beam is out of calculation range of FMA minimum power requirements. The shipyard has no choice except to increase the engine power to satisfy FMA minimum power requirement Rule. And the operation cost, efficiency of hullform and its building cost are not good from the ship owners' point of view To solve this problem, the experience of ice breaking tanker development and the ice tank test results were adopted. The main idea to reduce the ice resistance is by reducing waterline angle at design load waterline. The reason behind the main idea is to reduce the ice-clearing force. Two hull forms were developed to satisfy Baltic Ice class IA. Two ice tank tests and one towing tank test was performed at MARC (Kvaener-Masa Arctic Research Center) and SSMB (Samsung Ship Model Basin) facilities, respectively. The purpose of these tests was to verify the performance in ice and open water respectively The hull form 2 shows less speed loss compared to Hull form 1 in open water operation but hull form 2 shows very good ice clearing ability. finally the Hull Form 2 satisfying Baltic ice class IA. The merit of this hull form is to use the same engine capacity and no major design changes in hull form and other related designs But the hull structure has to be changed according to the ice class grade. The difference in two hull form development methods, ice model test methods and analysis methods of ice model test will be described in this paper.

The present study provides numerical simulations to predict the added resistance and ship motion of the KVLCC2 in regular waves using the unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS) and 3-D potential methods. This numerical analysis is focused on added resistance and vertical ship motions (heave and pitch) under a wide range of wave conditions at three ship speeds (design, operating and zero speeds). Firstly, the characteristics of the CFD and 3-D potential flow methods are presented to predict added resistance and ship motions in regular waves taking into account various wave conditions at design speed to provide a validation study as well as at operating and zero speeds. Secondly, analyses of added resistance and ship motion with unsteady wave patterns and time history results as simulated by CFD were performed at each ship speed. Systematic validation and verifications of the numerical computations in this study were made against available Experimental Fluid Dynamics (EFD) data including grid convergence tests to demonstrate that reliable numerical results were obtained for the prediction of added resistance and ship motion in waves. Relationships between added resistance, vertical motion and changes in ship speeds were also found.
