Active vibration control: considering effect of electric field on coefficients of PZT patches

  • Piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant of PZT-5H vary with electric field. In this work, variations of these coefficients with electric field are included in finite element modelling of a cantilevered plate instrumented with piezoelectric patches. Finite element model is reduced using modal truncation and then converted into state-space. First three modal displacements and velocities are estimated using Kalman observer. Negative first modal velocity feedback is used to control the vibrations of the smart plate. Three cases are considered v.i.z case 1: in which variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with electric field is not considered in finite element model and not considered in Kalman observer, case 2: in which variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with electric field is considered in finite element model and not considered in Kalman observer and case 3: in which variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with electric field is considered in finite element model as well as in Kalman observer. Simulation results show that appreciable amount of change would appear if variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with r.m.s. value of electric field is considered.

고효율 세라믹 압전 변압기의 전기적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrical Properties of Highly Efficient Ceramic Piezoelectric Transformer)

  • 본 논문은 고효율 강압형 적층 압전변압기를 개발하기 위하여 저온소결 세라믹스 개발 및 적층 변압기를 제작하였다. 그리고 회로 요소로써 사용하는 PT는 인버터 설계의 일반적인 접근법을 보여주기 위한 것이다. 또한 압전기 영향의 기술(記述)은 다수의 연구에서 복잡한 방정식과 공식도 쉽게 찾을 수 있다. 특히 압전기 세라믹 EMT가 변화하지 않으며 PT기초 전기소자의 여러 가지 예는 더욱 효과적인 적층변압기의 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Tonpilz 트랜스듀서의 성능에 미치는 압전소재의 영향 (Effects of piezoelectric material on the performance of Tonpilz transducer using finite element method)

  • Tonpilz 트랜스듀서의 거동에 미치는 압전 소재의 형상과 크기의 효과에 대하여 유한요소법을 통한 컴퓨터 모사를 통하여 연구하였다. 도넛 형태의 압전체의 직경과 높이 그리고 쌓아올린 stack의 수를 변수로 고려하였고 최종적으로 소재 자체를 특성이 뛰어난 단결정 소재로 변환하였을 때 그 특성인 출력과 TVR 대역폭이 어떻게 변하는지를 모사하였다. 그 결과, 리랙서 단결정을 활용함으로써 같은 구조에서 출력을 10배 정도 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

PNN치환이 저온소결 PMN-PZT 세라믹스의 압전특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of PNN Substitution on the Piezoelectric Properties of Low Temperature Sintering PMN-PZT Ceramics)

  • In this study, in order to develop multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3-Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated with the function of PNN substitution. With increasing PNN substitution, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}r$), electromechanical coupling factor(kp), and piezoelectric d constant($d_{33}$) were increased at 10~12[mol%] PNN substitution and then decreased at all sintering temperature. With increasing PNN substitution, phase changed from tetragonal to rhombohedral at [10~12mol%] PNN substitution. At the 12[mol%] PNN substituted PMN-PZT composition ceramic sintered at 950[$^{\circ}C$], density, ${\varepsilon}r$, kp, $d_{33}$ and Qm showed the optimum value of 7.79[$g/cm^3$], 1160, 0.599, 419[pC/N) and 894, respectively for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • Nowadays, source of MEMS, USN, Hybrid parts pay attention to energy harvesting. On this paper, energy harvesting was studied using piezoelectric effect. And, piezoelectric generator was designed and fabricated. Generators were designed by FEM simulation program and generators were made by attaching cymbal type metal plates on upper and bottom sides of a disc type piezoelectric ceramic. Output AC power was rectified to DC power by full bridge circuit and converted to regular voltage power by DC-DC converter. The final output power was charged to Ni-Cd battery. Using fabricated generators, output voltages dependant on thickness of ceramic, displacement of vibration, frequency of vibration were measured.

  • This paper presents an analytical approach to describe the variation in the vibration characteristics such as the natural frequency of a piezoelectric transducer under static pre-pressure. The transducer considered in this paper is a bolt clamped Langevin type transducer, which consists of a couple of piezoelectric discs, a couple of metal blocks for added mass effect, and a bolt to tighten them. A new analysis model for the transducer has been developed by taking into account the contact area between the piezoelectric ceramic and the metal block. The variation of the resonance frequency due to the pre-pressure has been calculated compared with other results.

  • In order to reduce the piezoelectric field originated from the well layer which resides in InGaN/GaN light emitting diode, InGaN/GaN superlattice buffer layers were grown at the bottom and the top of the active layer. Measuring the photoluminescence spectra with different reverse bias voltages clearly revealed the condition of the flat band under which the transition energy is maximized and the linewidth is minimized. Accordingly, the piezoelectric field of $In_{0.15}Ga_{0.85}N$ in our sample was estimated as -1.08 MV/cm. It is less than half the value reported in the previous studies, and it is evidenced that the strain has reduced due to the superlattice buffer layers.

  • In this paper, we investigated the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Pb(Sb, Nb)O$_3$-Pb(Zr, Ti)O$_3$ ceramic(PSN) for piezoelectric transformer and actuator etc. Effect of MnO$_2$ addition on the PSN ceramic was investigated. Anisotropic properties of electromechanical coupling factor and piezoelectric properties proved to be varied with amount of MnO$_2$ impurity and sintering temperature. The electromechanical coupling factor k$_{p}$ of 0.38 and the mechanical quality factor Q$_{m}$ of 1944 were obtained from the specimen with 0.4 wt% MnO$_2$ sintered at 115$0^{\circ}C$ addition. Experimental results indicated that the PSN ceramic with MnO$_2$ impurity can be effectively used for piezoelectric transformer and actuator.tor.

유니몰프 압전소자를 이용한 발전 판넬의 출력특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of Output Characteristics for the Generation Panel using Unimorph Piezoelectric Element)

  • The ability for energy harvesting via the piezoelectric effect was studied for a unimorph element such as piezo buzzer. A simple equivalent circuit was proposed to predict the energy generated based on the internal stress. Unimorphs with a metal-cavity were used as a driving device of the generation panel. Both the AC open voltage and DC output voltage as a function of pressure period and number of element were measured. For the unimorph generation circuit, DC output voltage varies with pressure period, reaching a maximum value at $470{\mu}F$. The maximum output voltage a according to load resistance was measured at $1M{\Omega}$. Data analysis of the DC output voltage and time constant indicated that number of piezoelectric element of optimum was 60~80. It was found that piezoelectric unimorph has the possibility to be used as the driving element of the electric generation.

  • A Piezoelectric actuator yields hysteresis effect due to its composed ferroelectric. Hysteresis nonlinearity is neglected when a piezoelectric actuator moves with short stroke. However when it moves with long stroke and high frequency, the hysteresis nonlinearity can not be neglected. The hysteresis nonlinearity of piezoelectric actuator degrades the control performance in precision position control. In this paper, in order to improve the control performance of piezoelectric actuator, an inverse modeling scheme is proposed to compensate the hysteresis nonlinearity problem. And feedforward-feedforward-feedback controller is proposed to give a good tracking performance. The Feedforward controller is inverse hysteresis model, and PID control is sued as a feedback controller. To show the feasibility of the proposed controller and hysteresis modeling, some experiments have been carried out. It is concluded hat the proposed control scheme gives good tracking performance.
