A Study on Three-dimensional Effects and Deformation of Textile Fabrics: Dynamic Deformations of Silk Fabrics

  • Recent trends toward the collaborations among various sectors of academia and research areas have brought interests and significances in new activities especially in the fashion and textile areas. One of the collaboration examples is the recent research projects on 3D virtual clothing systems based on the 3D CAD software. The 3D virtual clothing systems provide simulated apparels with high degrees of fidelity in terms of color, texture, and structural details. However, since real fabrics exhibit strong nonlinearity, anisotropy, viscoelasticity, and hysteresis, the 3D virtual clothing systems need fine tuning parameters for the simulation process. In this study, characteristics of silk fabrics, which are woven by using degummed silk and raw silk yarns, are being analyzed and compared. Anisotropic properties may be measured as warp and filling direction properties separately in woven fabrics, such as warp tensile stress or filling bending rigidity. Hysteretic properties may be measured as bending hysteresis or shear hysteresis by using KES measurements. These data provide deformation-force relationships of the fabric specimen. Three-dimensional effects obtained when using these characteristic fabrics are also analyzed. The methods to control the three-dimensional appearance of the sewn fabric specimens when utilizing a programmable microprocessor-based motor device, as prepared in this study, are presented. Based on the physical and mechanical properties measured when using the KES equipment, the property parameters are being into a 3-dimensional virtual digital clothing system, in order to generate a virtual clothing product based on the measured silk fabric properties.

  • 공중합체인 PLGA는 생분해성 고분자로서 의료용 이식재료로 사용되고 있으며, 이를 이용한 멤브레인은 양호한 생분해 특성 및 지속적 약물 전달체로서 치조골 유도제로 적용할 수 있다. 본 연구는 락티드, 글리콜리드 합성 및 공중합과정을 거쳐 상전이법을 이용하여 PLGA 멤브레인을 제조하였으며, 멤브레인의 광학적(NMR, IR), 기계적(인장강도), 열적(DSC)특성을 조사하였다. 또한 PLGA 멤브레인의 생분해 특성은 PBS (Phosphate Buffered Solution)이 담긴 항온조($60^{\circ}C$) 내에서 분해시간에 따른 표면분해 정도, 멤브레인의 질량변화 및 용액의 pH 변화로 측정하였다.

한산 모시의 역학적 특성 및 태에 관한 연구(제1보) (Mechanical Properties and Fabric Handle of kansan Bamie (Part I))

  • Ramie is one of the traditional fabrics in Korea, and very comfortable fabric for summer clothes because it has a high moisture-absorbing and transporting property. Futhermore ramie is very popular and Koreans prefer its handle for summer clothes. The kansan ramie has better quality as fibers and can be weaved as fine fabrics which are famous as kansan Fine ramie. Even though the good quality of kansan ramie has known widely, very few research work have been carried out on kansan ramie in the field of textile science. In this study, the analysis of the physical and chemical characteristics of Hansan ramie was conducted by using two different kinds of Hansan ramie: Hansan Fine ramie and kansan Coarse ramie. In addition, the same experiment was held on the one kind of chinese ramie to be compared with those of Hansan ramie. The following results were obtained from this experimental study. By the analysis of chemical composition of ramie, the similar chemical composition (a -cellulose: 83∼85%, pectin substances: 2.81∼ 3.01%) were found from all of the ramie fabrics used in this study. It has shown that Hansan coarse ramie has the highest toughness value and wrinkle recovery angle among the samples used in this study. From the result of KES-F system, it was found that Hansan Coarse ramie which is composed with the thicker yarns has the highest value on the bending properties, 2HG and surface properties. The primary hand value was also calculated by KN-203 LDY and value of Koshi was shown as the order of kansan coarse ramie> Chinese ramie> kansan fine ramie, and Hansan fine ramie had shown the highest Numeri and Fukurami value among the 3 samples used in this study.

EPDM 이오노머/Polyamide-6 블렌드계 열가소성 탄성체의 열적 성질 (Thermal Properties of the Themoplastic Elastomers Based on EPDM Ionomer/Polyamide-6 Blends)

  • 탄성체로써 EPDM 이오노머와 결정성 보강 고분자로써 폴리아미드-6를 이용하는 새로운 형태의 열가소성 탄성체를 제조하여 이들의 열적 성질을 고찰하였다. 특히 산화아연을 이용하여 말레인화 EPDM으로부터 EPDM 이오노머를 제조할 때 중화도의 영향과 블렌드 중 폴리아미드-6 함량의 영향을 살펴보았다. 중화와 블렌드 공정은 이축압출기를 이용하였다. 말레인화 EPDM의 중화는 냉각 결정화 온도를 상승시켰다. 폴리아미드-6의 높은 결정성은 보강재 효과를 보였다. 블렌드에서 말레인화 EPDM과 폴리아미드-6 사이의 이미드 형성으로 폴리아미드-6의 분산이 양호하게 나타났다. EPDM 이오노머와 폴리아미드-6로 제조한 열가소성 탄성체는 균형적인 기계적 물성과 향상된 내열성을 나타내었다.

투명 유-무기 하이브리드 하드코팅 필름 제조 및 SiO2 또는 ZrO2함량에 따른 필름의 물성 (Preparation of Transparent Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Hard Coating Films and Physical Properties by the Content of SiO2 or ZrO2 in Their Films)

  • Transparent organic-inorganic hybrid hard coating films were prepared by the addition of $SiO_2$ or $ZrO_2$, as an inorganic filler to improve the hardness property, filler was highly dispersed in the acrylic resin. To improve the compatibility in the acrylic resin, $SiO_2$ or $ZrO_2$ is surface-modified using various silanes with variation of the modification time and silane content. Depending on the content and kind of the modified inorganic oxide, transparent modified inorganic sols were formulated in acryl resin. Then, the sols were bar coated and cured on PET films to investigate the optical and mechanical properties. The optimized film, which has a modified $ZrO_2$ content of 4 wt% markedly improved in terms of the hardness, haze, and transparency as compared to neat acrylate resin and acrylate resin containing modified $SiO_2$ content of 8 wt%. Meanwhile, the low transparency and high haze of these films slowly appeared at $SiO_2$ content above 10 wt% and $ZrO_2$ content of 5 wt%, but the hardness values were maintained at 2H and 3H, respectively, in comparison with the HB of neat acrylate resin.

Lifetime Prediction and Aging Behaviors of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber under Operating Environment of Transformer

  • Based on the actual operating environment of transformer, the aging tests of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were conducted systematically under four conditions: in air, in transform oil, under compression in air and under compression in transform oil to studythe effect of high temperature, transform oil and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber and predict the lifetime. The effects of liquid media and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber were studied by using characterization methods such as IR spectrosc-opy, thermogravimetric measurements, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and mechanical property measurements. The changes in physical properties during the aging process were analyzed and compared. Different aging conditions yielded materials with different properties. Aging at $70^{\circ}C$ under compression stress in oil, the change in elongation at break was lower than that aging in oil, but larger than that aging under compression in air. The compression set or elongation at break as evaluation indexes, 50% as critical value, the lifetime of NBR at $25^{\circ}C$ was predicted and compared. When aging under compression in oil, the prediction lifetime was lower than in air and under compression in air, and in oil. It was clear that when predicting the service lifetime of NBR in oil sealing application, compression and media liquid should be involved simultaneously. Under compression in oil, compression set as the evaluation index, the prediction lifetime of NBR was shorter than that of elongation at break as the evaluation index. For the life prediction of NBR, we should take into account of the performance trends of NBR under actual operating conditions to select the appropriate evaluation index.

유리질 중공 미소 구체를 사용한 경량골재콘크리트의 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Experimental Study on the Property of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete Using Hollow Micro Sphere)

  • 본 연구는 구조용 단열콘크리트의 개발을 위한 기초적 연구로서 HMS를 사용한 경량골재콘크리트의 물리, 역학적 특성 및 열전도 특성을 검토한 결과, HMS의 사용으로 인해 슬럼프의 감소가 발생하여 혼화제 사용량의 증가가 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, HMS 치환율의 증가에 따라 압축강도는 HMS의 낮은 계면부착력에 기인하여 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. HMS의 치환에 따라 일반콘크리트 및 경량골재콘크리트 대비 각각 최고 32, 68%의 열전도율 값을 나타내어 열전도율이 크게 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 물시멘트비의 증가는 압축강도를 감소시켰으나 열전도율은 개선하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 우주 발사체의 운반능력을 향상시키기 위하여 고성능 다단연소사이클 엔진의 개발은 필수적이다. 그 중 연소기 헤드는 기체산화제의 유입을 위해 콘 형상으로 되어 있으며, 매니폴드는 매우 복잡한 구조를 가지고 있다. 이러한 헤드는 주조 방식이나 기계가공으로 제작되어 왔다. 기계가공의 한계나 주조재질의 특성과 재료의 한계성을 탈피하여 복잡하고 가공이 어려운 연소기 헤드의 제작 공정을 3D 금속 프린팅 공정을 이용하여 개선하는 기술을 확보하고자 한다. 현재 3D 금속 프린팅을 이용하여 주연소기에 사용할 수 있는 소재의 물성을 파악하고 프린팅 제작조건의 변화를 주는 공정개발을 통하여 더욱 낳은 물성을 확보하고, 이를 바탕으로 연소기 헤드를 제작하고, 접합공정을 개발하여 연소시험을 통해 그 성능을 입증하고 제작공정을 확립하고자 한다.

  • 기능성 소재로서의 버찌분말의 이용가능성을 알아보기 위해 버찌분말을 0, 3, 5, 7 및 10% 첨가한 머핀을 제조하여 품질특성을 조사하였다. 머핀의 물성은 버찌분말의 첨가에 따라 경도(hardness)는 증가하였고 검성(gumminess) 및 씹힘성(chewiness)은 감소하였다. 색도는 첨가량이 증가할수록 빵껍질(crust)과 빵속(crumb)에서 명도와 황색도가 감소하고 적색도는 증가하였다. 또한 버찌 분말의 농도가 증가함에 따라 항산화 활성이 증가하였다. 관능검사 결과 버찌분말첨가 머핀에서 색, 향, 맛, 부드러움, 촉촉함, 전체적인 기호도면에서 무첨가구에 비해 전반적으로 높게 평가되었으며, 전체적인 기호도는 5% 첨가구에서 가장 높은 점수를 나타내었다. 이러한 결과로 볼 때 머핀의 품질 및 관능 특성, 기능성을 고려한 버찌분말 첨가량은 5% 첨가구가 최적 조건일것으로 판단되었다.

Effect of the Calcium Nitrate Solution Treatment on the Tensile, Bending, and Shear Properties of Silk Fabric

  • Interests in creating three-dimensionally designed fabric materials are growing rapidly in the sectors of the fashionable textiles with the creativity, new functions, and aesthetics. A number of finishing methods have been developed and proposed to add or create new functions and designs for silk fabrics. Due to the strong hydrogen bonds between the molecules of silk fibroins, the thermal treatment methods used in thermoplastic fiber processing, which can easily deform the synthetic filament fabrics to endow three-dimensional appearance to the fabrics, are not applicable to the silk fabric treatment. In order to modify the fine structure of silk fiber, neutral salt solution treatment methods have been suggested. In this study, the effect of the calcium nitrate solution on the physical and mechanical properties of silk fabrics was investigated by using the KES(Kawabata Evaluation System) equipment. Based on these findings, relationships between parameters, for example, the thickness and the compressional energy, the thickness and the compressional linearity, and the air permeability and the pore area statistical analysis were investigated. The relationships between the process parameters such as treatment temperature/time and the resulting fabric property parameters were also analyzed by using several SAS procedures.
