  • A computer program has been developed to estimate time-domain electromagnetic (EM) responses for a onedimensional model with multiple source and receiver dipoles that are finite in length. The time-domain solution can be obtained by applying an inverse fast Fourier transform (FFT) to frequency-domain fields for efficiency. Frequency-domain responses are first obtained for 10 logarithmically equidistant frequencies per decade, and then cubic spline interpolated to get the FFT input. In the case of phases, the phase curve must be made to be continuous prior to the spline interpolation. The spline interpolated data are convolved with a source current waveform prior to FFT. In this paper, only a step-off waveform is considered. This time-domain code is verified with an analytic solution and EM responses for a marine hydrocarbon reservoir model. Through these comparisons, we can confirm that the accuracy of the developed program is fairly high.

  • To minimize the damage by wild birds and acquire the benefits such as protection against weeds and maintenance of water content in soil, the mulching black color vinyl after seeding should be carried out. Non-contact and non-destructive methods that can continuously determine the locations are necessary. In this study, a crop position detection method was studied that uses infrared thermal image sensor to determine the cotyledon position under vinyl mulch. The moving system for acquiring image arrays has been developed for continuously detecting crop locations under plastic mulching on the field. A sliding mechanical device was developed to move the sensor, which were arranged in the form of a linear array, perpendicular to the array using a micro-controller integrated with a stepping motor. The experiments were conducted while moving 4.00 cm/s speed of the IR sensor by the rotational speed of the stepping motor based on a digital pulse width modulation signal from the micro-controller. The acquired images were calibrated with the spatial image correlation. The collected data were processed using moving averaging on interpolation to determine the frame where the variance was the smallest in resolution units of 1.02 cm. Non-linear integral interpolation was one of method for analyzing the frequency using the normalization image and then arbitrarily increasing the limited data value of $16{\times}4pixels$ in one frame. It was a method to relatively reduce the size of overlapping pixels by arbitrarily increasing the limited data value. The splitted frames into 0.1 units instead of 1 pixel can propose more than 10 times more accurate and original method than the existing correction method. The non-integral calibration method was conducted by applying the subdivision method to the pixels to find the optimal correction resolution based on the first reversed frequency. In order to find a correct resolution, the expected location of the first crop was indicated on near pixel 4 in the inversion frequency. For the most optimized resolution, the pixel was divided by 0.4 pixel instead of one pixel to find out where the lowest frequency exists.

  • In this paper, we propose a new inspection method that applies fuzzy reasoning method considering the difference of brightness and intensity of illumination by bend together. In the preprocessing phase, we compensate the degree of semiconductor images with bilinear interpolation and moment-rotation. Then we use fuzzy reasoning method with the difference of brightness from error region by pattern matching and the difference of intensity of illumination from bends. Then the result is difuzzified and applied to the final inspection process. In experiment which uses 30 real world semiconductors with strait shots and side shots, the proposed method successfully discard the false positive identified by conventional brightness comparison only method without any loss of misidentification.

  • In the MPEG-4 standardization phase, many methods for coding the irregular shaped VOP (video object Plane) have been researched. Texture coding is one of interesting research items in the MPEG-4. There are the Low pass extrapolation (LPE) padding, the shape adaptive DCT (SA-DCT), and the Extension-Interpolation (EI)/2D-DCT proposed in [1] as texture coding methods. the EI/2D-DCT is the method extending and interpolating luminance values from and Arbitrarily Shaped (AS) image segment into an 8 x 8 block and transforming the extended and interpolated luminance values by the 8x8 DCT. although the EI/2D-DCT and the SA-DCT work well in coding the As image segments. they are degraded since they use one-dimensional (1-D) methods such as the 1D-EI and the 1D-DCT in the two-dimensional (2-D) space. in this paper, we analyze the performance of the EI/2D-DCTand propose a new non-symmetric sig-sag scanning method, which non-symmetrically scans the quantized coefficients in the DCT domain to improve the EI/2D-DCT.

  • PAPR of the pilot symbols can be reduced down by the CAZAC sequence in the SC-FDMA communication system. However, it is very complicated and takes quite a long time to compute the interpolation between the OFDM information symbols for the channel estimation because the pilot data are trasmitted in the block type. Furthermore, situation will be much more serious in the severe fading channel. Actually the pilot insertion of the comb type is much efficient and convenient for the channel estimation since the calculation of the interpolation can be made in the frequency domain symbol by symbol. But, the PAPR will be regrown when the pilot data are inserted with the information data in the comb type. So, in this paper, we like to study the PAPR reduction and comb type pilot assignment for the efficient channel estimation. Unlike the conventional SLM(selected mapping) method requiring the side information, our improved SLM method is to use the phase rotation sequence into information data without rotating phase of pilot. We use different pilot data according to the different phase rotation sequence. From the simulation result, it can be confirmed that when SLM method of 4 phase rotation sequence is used, PAPR is almost same to the block type method without pilot.

  • As a check on calibration and drift in each discrete sub-system of a commercial frequency-domain airborne electromagnetic system, we aim to use causality constraints alone to predict in-phase from wide-band quadrature data. There are several possible applications of the prediction of in-phase response from quadrature data including: (1) quality control on base level drift, calibration and phase checks; (2) prediction and validation of noise levels in in-phase from quadrature measurements and vice versa and in future; and (3) interpolation and extrapolation of sparsely sampled data enforcing causality and better frequency-domain-time-domain transformations. In practice, using tests on both synthetic and measured Resolve helicopter-borne electromagnetic frequency domain data, in-phase data points could be predicted using a scaled Hilbert transform with a standard deviation between 40 and 80 ppm. However, relative differences between base levels between flight could be resolved to better than 1 ppm, which allows an independent quality control check on the accuracy of drift corrections.

  • This paper presents a method to display the 3D vector fields by analyzing phase space. This method is based on the connections between ordinary differential equations and the topology of vector fields. The phase space analysis should be geometric interpolation of an autonomous system of equation in the form of the phase space. Every solution of it system of equations corresponds not to a curve in a space, but the motion of a point along the curve. This analysis is the basis of this paper. This new method is required to decompose the hexahedral cell into five or six tetrahedral cells for 3D vector fields. The critical points can be easily found by solving a simple linear system for each tetrahedron. The tangent curves can be integrated by finding the intersection points of an integral curve traced out by the general solution of each tetrahedron and plane containing a face of the tetrahedron.

  • This paper presents a high resolution, wide input range 2-step time-to-digital converter used in digital PLL. TDC is used to compare the DPLL output frequency with reference frequency and should be implemented with high resolution to improve the phase noise of DPLL. The conventional TDC consists of delay line realized inverters, whose resolution is determined by delay time of inverter and transistor size, resulting in limited resolution. In this paper, 2-step TDC with phase-interpolation and Time Amplifier is proposed to meet the high resolution and wide input range by implement the delay time less than an inverter delay. The gain of Time Amplifier is improved by using the delay time difference between two inverters. It is implemented in $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process and the die area is $800{\mu}m{\times}850{\mu}m$ Current consumption is 12 mA at the supply voltage of 1.2 V. The resolution and input range of the proposed TDC are 0.357 ps and 200 ps, respectively.

  • It is essential for the near-field receiving measurement to make beam pattern and check the performance of a active phased array antenna system. Also, we could obtain compensation value for mono-pulse function through the near-field receive test, however, if the radar has many frequency channel, the test would take long time and hard effort. So it is needed that frequency channels are selected for measurement and calculates the values for other frequency channels to improve efficiency in development and manufacture. In this case, the phase variations in sum and del channels would be checked. The phase measurement includes un-linear characteristic because of wrapping effect. Generally, radars have similar path length in sum and del channel, but if a radar has a electrical length gap between sum and del channel, errors could occur by phase's wrapping effect. In this paper, the interpolation method's error caused by electrical length gap is checked and the effective method for frequency channel selection to avoid wrapping effect is introduced.

  • In this paper, a channel estimation technique based on pilot tones is proposed for cooperative SFBC-OFDM systems with a STO(Symbol Timing Offset). In a cooperative SFBC-OFDM system, the STO between RS(Relay Station) and MS(Mobile Station) varies depending on the location of MS. Since the STO causes distortion in the form of phase rotation, a channel estimation technique based on linear interpolation with respect to phase and amplitude is proposed for the case of orthogonal pilot allocation. Also, a channel estimation technique is proposed by solving nonlinear equation for the case of pilot structure with orthogonal code. It is shown by computer simulation that the performance of channel estimation can be significantly improved when the proposed techniques are applied to cooperative SFBC-OFDM systems with STO.
