Personal Economic Indicator and Its Distribution on Household Consumption Level

  • Economic progress has changed views of people in interpreting welfare and this affects the level of household consumption expenditure. An analysis of this issue is important to do so that the community may encourage the utilization and distribution of community welfare to be wiser and balanced in order to achieve the properness and appropriateness of welfare programs management with the development goals. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the impact of personal income, experience on lifestyle, and its distribution to household consumption of Makassar City Industrial workers. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: Data collection in this study was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents in Makassar City, South Sulawesi. Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis was used as data analysis. Result: This study indicated income has a positive and significant effect on lifestyle, while experience has no significant effect on lifestyle, and family member has a positive and significant effect on lifestyle. This study also indicated that lifestyle has a significant effect on Household Consumption. Conclusion: Consumption patterns are influenced by many factors, so people need to be wise in regulating consumption patterns and managing the distribution of their economic resources in order to achieve balance of economic in family.

  • This study focused on the satisfaction of user to institutional household management. In this study the institutional household management system was consisted in leadership management, marketing management, production management, personal management, material management and financial management. The purposeful questionair was developed for this 6 categories of institutional management system and the findings of users' satisfaction in these areas were analized. The findings were compared with the satisfaction of users to noninstitutional household management. The degree of satisfaction of users with leadership management, Production management. marketing management and financial management in institutional household was higher than those in noninstitutional household.

Satisfaction and Preference of Private and Shared Space of Student Housing for One Person Household - Focused on the University Students in Cheongju, Chungbuk - (대학생 1인가구 주거계획을 위한 단위세대와 공유공간의 만족도 및 선호도 조사 - 충북 청주 소재 대학교의 대학생 1인가구를 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a practical guide for planning the private and shared space of student housing for one person household by analyzing their satisfaction and preference. The data was collected through a questionnaire-survey from the students of the university in the city of Cheongju, Chungbuk. 191 samples were collected and analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The results are as follows: (1) this survey showed that most students are dissatisfied with private and shared spaces to narrow size, an unpleasant indoor environment, and incomplete facilities. (2) The most preferred housing type is an officetel in one room style because of its convenience. The majority of students preferred a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining room in personal preferential order with a wide room, well-ventilated environment, and reasonable space zoning for planning the private space. Broad personal spaces with shared spaces such as a study room, cafeteria and health zone are in demand for unit planning. Therefore, to provide privacy for personal living and to develop community spirit, there needs to be a movement to better for community living by arranging optional shared spaces.

A study on the Spatial Arrangement and Area of Senior Sharehouses in Japan (일본의 시니어 쉐어하우스 공간배치 및 면적 연구)

  • Single household is expected to be the typical form of future Korean elderly household from reduction of household size and rapid growth of the elderly. As Japanese solve the same problem with Senior Sharehouse, a case study on Senior Sharehouse in japan focused on the Spatial Arrangement and Spatial Composition could suggest an potential applications in Korea. In conclusion, compare to Korea, the Senior Sharehouse in Japan supplies additional $7.5{\sim}9.3m^2$ more space to support the physical movement of the elderly and to help the elderly to solve various functions at one space. The independence and privacy of residents are also assured by supplying single occupancy. Space analysis shows that public space is as spacious (47.3~55%) as personal space. The result of the Space analysis suggests that the sharehouse provides rational ratio of space to assure residents' independence. It was supposed that the center type would be the main stream of the Spatial Arrangement for sharehouse considering its characteristic of sharing space. But, the Senior Sharehouse in Japan prefers corner type. The guarantee of personal space is being considered as a important characteristic. As a result of case analysis, Senior Sharehouse can be a proper type of house for single elderly household and present study can be used for the baseline data to solve the residence problem for single elderly household in Korea.

A Path Analysis of the Relationships among Leisure Expenditures, Leisure Activity Participation, and Leisure Satisfaction: Focus on Adult Consumers in Ulsan (레저지출, 레저활동 참여도 및 레저만족에 대한 관계 분석: 울산시 성인소비자를 대상으로)

  • The study aims at investigating the causal relationships among leisure expenditures, leisure activity participation and leisure satisfaction of adult consumers. Data were collected from 415 adult consumers in Ulsan. ANOVA, multiple regression, and path analysis were used for the statistical analysis. The results indicated that marital status, household income and subject's attitude toward leisure had significant impacts on leisure expenditures, while their satisfaction with financial status, household income, leisure plan, their attitudes toward leisure and personal acquaintanceship significantly affected leisure activity participation. To leisure satisfaction, their satisfaction with financial status, the attitudes toward leisure, leisure expenditures and leisure activity participation were positively related, and leisure plan was negatively related. The results of path analysis showed that marital status, household income, the satisfaction with financial status, their attitude toward leisure, leisure plan, personal acquaintanceship, leisure expenditures, and leisure activity participation had direct or indirect effects on leisure satisfaction.

An Analysis of the Characteristics of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the Daily Life Sector in Korea (우리나라 생활계 온실가스 배출 특성 분석)

  • The present study attempts to understand the emission pattern of greenhouse gases in people's daily life through the estimation and analysis of the amount and characteristics of the greenhouse gases. Based on the survey of 1,000 people throughout the nation, monthly emission of greenhouse gases per-capita was estimated from their use of fuels, electricity, water, and personal and public transportation means in addition to their waste generation. In the case of personal car drivers, greenhouse gas emission was the greatest from their cars, followed by the emission from electricity, fuels, and public transportation. Emission from water consumption and waste generation was relatively low. Fuel consumption varied depending on the number of household members, their housing type, and the size of their living spaces. Results showed that single-person households emitted the largest amount of per-capita greenhouse gas while greenhouse gas emission from electricity was inversely proportional to the number of persons in a given household.

Analysis on the Factors Influencing Elderly's Successful Aging: Group Comparison by Household Types (노인의 성공적 노후 영향요인 분석 : 가구유형별 집단비교)

  • The purpose of this study are the following two: first, to identify success level of elderly's Aging by their household types and second, to analyze the factors affecting successful aging. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for policy and program development for the successful life of the elderly. For this purpose, 699 single household, 1,412 couple household and 238 couple/child household data in personal survey and supplementary survey of the 4th Korean Retirement and Income Study. According to the analysis, the level of successful later life of single household is lower than that of couple or couple/children household. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to identify the factors affecting successful aging in single household. The results showed that economic activity, economic independence, housework, neighborhood affairs, family relations, and parent-child relationship were statistically significant. Economic independence, physical health, friendship, and parent-child relationship were found to affect in couple household. Physical health and friendship were found to be significant factors for successful aging in couple/child household.

Korean Household’s Level and Standard of Consumption: For Developing Sustainable Lifestyle (한국가계의 소비수준 및 표준:지속가능한 생활양식의 실현 모색)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify household’s level and standard of consumption and their related variables in order to derive some useful implications for developing sustainable lifestyle. Data were collected from 567 household wives living in Seoul and the five Metropolitan cities in Korea. The results showed that most households owned such goods as central heating system, shower and bath, refrigerator, microwave oven, vacuum cleaner, washer. TV video player, personal computer, mobile phone, and car. They thought that most of the goods were necessary for the desired level of living and has a strong aspiration to buy those goods. This implied a tendency of uniformity in need perceptions and consumption patterns among Korean households. However, level and standard of consumption measured in selected living area differed according to age. education family size, household income, occupation, and the size housing, which showed that different approach was needed for developing sustainable lifestyle according to these variables.

Factors Affecting Financial Status of the Rural Middle-aged and Old-aged Households (재무비율로 평가한 농촌 중ㆍ노년기 가계의 재정상태에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석)

  • This study attempted to investigate the factors affecting financial status of the rural middle-aged and old-aged household. The results shelved that the significant variables which influenced on the probability of financial security measured by consumption to income ratio were sex and education level of the household head, family size, total income, total expenditure and total assets. The most influential variables on the probability of financial security measured by liquidity ratio was liquid assets, and total assets. Education level of the household head. liquid assets, total assets, and total debt had significant effects on the probability of financial security estimated by debt burden ratio. Among the economic variables, only liquid asset had significant negative effects on the probability of financial security assessed by the capital stock ratio.

  • The application of Residents Participation Designing Method is to provide the resident with a chance of either participating in the planning process of the house or selecting other possible options. The multi-household apartments have so far been grown in quantity by means of mass production and hence have contributed in elevating its supply. However, this manner of supplying has a tendency of ignoring much of the individuals concern regarding space planning And has therefore repeatedly standardized and stereotyped ground planning which only concerns its economic profit and effectiveness. As the standard of living and personal wealth have improved over the years, residents have come to demand a more futuristic model designed to satisfy the individuals personal taste and lifestyle. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest the planning method of multi-household apartments to correspond to resident's specific demand.
