  • We address the problem of uncooperative person recognition through continuous monitoring. Multiple modalities, such as face, height, clothes color, and voice, can be used when attempting to recognize a person. In general, not all modalities are available for a given frame; furthermore, only some modalities will be useful as some frames in a video sequence are of a quality that is too low to be able to recognize a person. We propose a method that makes use of stochastic information updates of temporal modalities and environment estimators to improve person recognition performance. The environment estimators provide information on whether a given modality is reliable enough to be used in a particular instance; such indicators mean that we can easily identify and eliminate meaningless data, thus increasing the overall efficiency of the method. Our proposed method was tested using movie clips acquired under an unconstrained environment that included a wide variation of scale and rotation; illumination changes; uncontrolled distances from a camera to users (varying from 0.5 m to 5 m); and natural views of the human body with various types of noise. In this real and challenging scenario, our proposed method resulted in an outstanding performance.

The area of education, newspaper, publishing are scripting Japanese person's name with script conversion schemes for Koreanization, devised by Ministry of Education. 7. The script of [Korean National Bibliography]'s name index can be used as authority file at selection of heading in library cataloging. 8. Most of libraries script Japanese person's name with Chinese character in Korean language pronunciation. 9. Korean Cataloging Rules (KCR) and Korean Machine Readable Cataloguing (KORMARC) description rules should be defined about the mother tongue script of Japanese person's name. 10. It is desirable to increase of credit of Readings in Japanese material course in college curriculum. 11. Because Japanese person's name is complex and variable that it is desirable to add Chinese character with mother tongue script.

  • The current Navigation System for the Visually Impaired Person has a short and limited communication distance and can't receive enough information from Visually Impaired Person to assist directly. In addition, because the path is dangerous and incomplete for the Visually Impaired Person, moving with White Stick is still inconvenient and dangerous. To solve this problem we implement communication that can send and receive video, voice, location information between the Visually Impaired Person's Smart Portable Navigation System Development and assistant's PC.

  • Purpose: This study compared health behaviors and disease prevalence between one-person women and multiple-household women in Korea. Methods: This study used the 2013 data from the Korean Community Health Survey (KCHS). A total of 89,807 women, aged 19-64 years were included in this study. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square test. Moreover, statistical processing was performed using the SPSS 21.0. Results: Among adult women, one-person households women was 6.2%. One-person household women were older than multiple-households women, and multiple-households women were less likely to exercise regularly. And disease prevalence was higher in one-person household women than in multiple-household women. Conclusion: Residence characteristics should be considered in developing a public health program to reduce or increase modifiable health behaviors and disease prevalence. The findings from this study suggest that policies to improve the support for healthcare of one-person household women is necessary.

  • This study examined within- and between-person variation in nutrient intakes in order to estimate the degree of precision in dietary assessment among 37 males and 46females whose mean age was 70.4 years old. To collect dietary data, each subject was interviewed 5 or 6 times using a 24-hour recall method during a 3 month period. Within- person variation ranged from 23.5% to 101.2%. Lower values of within-person variation were observed in energy, carbohydrated, protein and phosphorous while higher value was observed in vitamin A. Between person variations of nutrient intakes ranged 12.6-23.5% in most nutrients. With 1 day dietary data, observed nutrient intakes were estimated to within 6-25% of the group's usual9true) intakes and 52-198% of the individuals' usual intakes. The values of these maximum percentage deviations became smaller when the number of dietary recalls increased. The results of this study suggest that the Korean elderly subjects appear to have a slightly less diverse diet compared to young Korean women. Within persons, intakes of nutrients largely from animal sources were more variable for the Korean elderly than for their counterparts in Western countries. This study also implies that commonly used 1 day dietary study may be appropriate for assessing group means of nutrient intakes, but clearly not appropriate for assessing individual's nutrient intakes.

  • Anchor-person scene detection is of significance for video shot semantic parsing and indexing clues extraction in content-based news video indexing and retrieval system. This paper proposes an efficient algorithm extracting anchor ranges that exist in sports news video for unit structuring of sports news. To detect anchor person scenes, first, anchor person candidate scene is decided by DCT coefficients and motion vector information in the MPEG4 compressed video. Then, from the candidate anchor scenes, image processing method is utilized to classify the news video into anchor-person scenes and non-anchor(sports) scenes. The proposed scheme achieves a mean precision and recall of 98% in the anchor-person scenes detection experiment.

  • This study examines the effects of chronic disease/disability and stress from health on depressive symptoms among one-person households living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province in Korea. This study also investigates the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between 1)having a chronic disease/disability and depressive symptoms as well as 2)stress from health and depressive symptoms. This study used data from an online survey targeting one-person households living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The final sample included 499 one-person households. Using a multiple regression analysis with SPSS 20.0, results showed that having a chronic disease/disability was associated with a higher level of depressive symptoms. In addition, stress from health was associated with a higher level of depressive symptoms. In regard to the roles of social support, economic support and emotional support had a direct negative effect on depressive symptoms. Emotional support had a moderating effect on the relationship between having a chronic disease/disability and depressive symptoms. In addition, emotional support also had a moderating effect on the relationship between stress from health and depressive symptoms. Based on these findings, this study suggests that policy makers should reduce the economic burden from a chronic disease/disability and help one-person households to strengthen their social support network.

  • Objectives : In this study, we used the data of the 2015 National Health and Nutrition Survey in its 6th Phase, and the total number of subjects included was 4,884. Methods : Frequency analysis, crosstab and logistic regression analysis were conducted to investigate unmet medical factors related to family members. Results : The subjects of the study were 10.3% single-person households and 89.7% non-single-person households. There were statistically significant differences in age, education level, marital status, income level, private health insurance, and subjective health status. Factors associated with unmet healthcare needs according to single-person households was subjective health status. Age, gender, marital status and subjective health status were the factors associated with unmet healthcare needs according to non-single-person households. Conclusions : It is necessary to establish health care policies that can expand the health education necessary for providing appropriate information on medical care and improving awareness of social illnesses and improving affordability and convenience.
