  • The objective of this study was to develop automatic systems of nutrient solution management for optimal nutrient solution environment and labor saving in water culture which enables factory crop production. In this study, an automatic control system and its driving program are developed to prepare, supply, and recover nutrient solution and to keep the optimal solution concentration level using microcomputers. Based on this study, the following conclusions are obtained: 1. The concentration measured by the system using oscillating circuit designed and built in this study, gave good agreements with the actual nutrient solution. 2. In water culture, the period of 12 hours for measuring concentration, pH, and temperature of the nutrient solution was optimum. Addition of control solution due to the decrease of the nutrient solution concentration is required in every 3 to 5 days. 3. It is estimated that the period of the whole solution change is 15 days, however, further research is needed to assure it. In addition, this period must be shortened in the future. 4. Both the hardware and software of the developed optimal nutrient solution control system in the water culture are working very well, however, it is necessary to develop a more economical one-chip micro controller to substitute for the microcomputer.

  • In this article we consider the following system of piecewise linear difference equations: xn+1 = |xn| - yn - 1 and yn+1 = xn + |yn| - 1. We show that when the initial condition is an element of the closed second or fourth quadrant the solution to the system is either a prime period-3 solution or one of two prime period-4 solutions.

  • In the present study, silk fibroin (SF) was dissolved in $CaCl_2/H_2O/EtOH$ solution at $85^{\circ}C$. After the dissolution, the SF solution was cooled down and stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 28 d. The stability of the solution's viscosity and electrospinnability was observed to examine the stability of SF molecules during storage in $CaCl_2/H_2O/EtOH$ solution. The viscosities of $SF/CaCl_2/H_2O/EtOH$ solution and SF formic acid solution did not change during 28 days' storage of SF in $CaCl_2/H_2O/EtOH$ solution. The electrospinnability of the SF solution, mean diameter of the electrospun SF fiber, and crystallinity index of electrospun SF web did not change, regardless of the length of the storage period. These results imply that SF molecules do not degrade during 28 days' storage in $CaCl_2/H_2O/EtOH$ solution.

  • This study was performed to analyze the quality characteristics of Oiji solution and Oiji preserved with $7\%$ salt brine and the others preserved with Pulsatilla koreana additives of varied concentrations $(3,\;6\;and\;9\%)$ during fermentation (24 days) at room temperature $(20\pm2^{\circ}C)$. The resuls of this experiment was as follows: The pH of Oiji added with Pulsatilla koreana of 3, 6 and $9\%$ tended to decrease as a fermentation period got longer. The acidity of Oiji was increased as a fermentation period got longer and reached the highest value in the 21st day. The acidity of Oiji solution was $0.92\~1.06\%$ and that of Oiji itself was $0.77\~1.61\%$. The Brix value showed $0.77\%$ for Oiji at the frist day and $3.33\~3.70\%$ at the 24th day. The Brix value of the Oiji with no addition showed the lowest value. Salt content was $2.39\~2.53\%$ for Oiji solution and $3.20\~3.33\%$ for Oiji. The tumidity as $\%T$ of Oiji solution was $52.67\%$ at the first day, that of Oiji solution with no addition of Pulsatilla koreana showed $-10.53\%$ and one which added $9\%$ Pulsatilla koreana showed $-1.16\%$ of tumidity as $\%T$ at the 24th day. As the fermentation period got longer, Oiji solution became tumid The tumidity of Oiji . solution with addition of Pulsatilla koreana showed a low level. For the texture of Oiji, hardness decreased in all cases and fracturability also decreased drastically, but adhesiveness increased as fermentation proceeded Sensory evaluation of Oiji with $6\%$ Pulsatilla koreana additives showed the highest score of taste, crispness and overall acceptance expect smell.

  • Herbs and plants widely used for the ecological restoration were selected for germination rate analysis under treatment of microorganisms to determine ideal treatment conditions and medium for enhanced germination rate. Albizzia julibrissin, when submerged in a nutrient medium or distilled water, presented a decrease in germination period rather than increase in germination rate. When treated with microorganism culture solution (JM-2) for 24 hours, 90% germination was achieved in two days, which is sufficient evidence to conclude that such treatment accelerates the germination of Albizzia julibrissin. Germination period decreased for Lespedeza cyrtobotrya samples submerged in microorganism solution for 15 and 48 hours, however, increases in germination rates were not observed. Sample treated in the solution for 24 hours had increased germination rate and enhanced germination period. Microorganism solution treatment had a negative effect on germination for Lespedeza cuneata, unlike Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Albizzia julibrissin. Microorganism treated seeds of Lepsedeza cuneata had a lower germination rate than that of the control with no treatment. However, submerging treatments in a nutrient medium or distilled water for 24 to 48 hours were proven effective with higher germination rates than control sample with no treatment. • The increasing use of cardioplegic solution for the reduction of ischemic tissue injury requires that all cardioplegic solution be carefully assessed for any protective or damaging properties. This study describes functional assessment of the efficiency of steroid in cardioplegic solution by using a Langendorffs perfusion model. Isolated rat heart were subject to a 2 minute period of coronary infusion with the steroid mixed cold cardioplegic solution immediately before and also at the midpoint of a 60 minutes period of hypothermic [10\ulcorner\ulcorner] ischemic arrest. The result of this study were as follows: 1.Spontaneous heart beat after ischemic arrest occurred 14 second later Langendorffs reperfusion in the steroid mixed Young & GIK group and 16 second later in the control group. [Young & GIK without steroid] A good recovery state of spontaneous heart beat was shown in both groups. 2.The percentage of recoveries of heart rate during the 30 minute after postischemic Langendorffs reperfusion was; at first 5 minute 106.3\ulcorner.7% [P<0.05] in the steroid mixed Young & GIK group. This percentage of recovery of steroid mixed Young & GIK group was significantly greater than the control group during the first 5 minute course. 3.The percentage of recovery of coronary flow during the 30 minute after postischemic Langendorffs reperfusion was; at first 5 minute 101\ulcorner.2% in the steroid mixed Young & GI K group. This percentage of recovery of the steroid mixed Young & GIK group was not significantly than the control group during the first 5 minute.

  • The lot sizing problem(LSP) is a hard problem that classified as non-deterministic(NP)-complete because of the polynomial-time optimal solution algorithm is unknown yet. The well-known W-W algorithm can be obtain the solution within polynomial-time, but this algorithm is a very complex, therefore the heuristic approximated S-M algorithm is suggested. This paper suggests O(n) linear-time complexity algorithm that can be find not the approximated but optimal solution. This algorithm determines the lot size Xt∗ in period t to the sum of the demands of interval [t,t+k], the period t+k is determined by the holding cost will not exceed setup cost of t+k period. As a result of various experimental data, this algorithm finds the optimal solution about whole data.

  • Pure iron, Fe-0.4, and 1.2 wt.%Cu alloys were examined by conducting the electrochemical techniques in the weakly alkaline solution, pH9, controlled by $Ca(OH)_2$, solution added with 0.02M NaCl. The $R_P$ measured from ac impedance, selected 10 kHz and 10mHz, in weakly alkaline solutions containing chloride ions indicated that the addition of copper up to 1.2wt.% into the pure iron significantly improved the pitting resistance of iron. In contrast to alloy, the pure iron showed the rapid pitting occurrences in drying period. During the drying period, the corrosion potential of pure iron was shifted to less noble value, pitting initiation.

  • The generalized goal decomposition model proposed by Ruefli as a single period decision model is presented for the purpose of a review and extended to make a multiple period planning model. The multiple period planning model in the three level organization is formulated with, linear goal deviations by introducing the goal programming method. Dynamic formulation using the generalized goal decomposition model for each single period problem is also presented. An iterative search algorithm is presented as an appropriate solution method of the dynamic formulation of the multiple period planning model.
