The effects of coating thickness on the delamination and fracture behavior of thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems were investigated with cyclic flame thermal fatigue (FTF) and thermal shock (TS) tests. The top and bond coats of the TBCs were prepared by electron beam-physical vapor deposition and low pressure plasma spray methods, respectively, with a thickness ratio of 2:1 in the top and bond coats. The thicknesses of the top coat were 200 and $500{\mu}m$, and those of the bond coat were 100 and $250{\mu}m$. FTF tests were performed until 1140 cycles at a surface temperature of $1100^{\circ}C$ for a dwell time of 5 min. TS tests were also done until more than 50 % delamination or 1140 cycles with a dwell time of 60 min. After the FTF for 1140 cycles, the interface microstructures of each TBC exhibited a sound condition without cracking or delamination. In the TS, the TBCs of 200 and $500{\mu}m$ were fully delaminated (> 50 %) within 171 and 440 cycles, respectively. These results enabled us to control the thickness of TBC systems and to propose an efficient coating in protecting the substrate in cyclic thermal exposure environments.
Assessment plays a vital role in outcome-based education (OBE). This article describes the characteristics of assessment and appropriate assessment instruments for measuring learning outcomes in OBE. Assessment in OBE needs to be formative, continuous, and frequent. Miller's pyramid is useful for selecting the appropriate assessment instruments to reflect a specific outcome; different methods can be applied to evaluate one outcome. Outcomes and competency mean that student must 'do'; therefore, performance tests are emphasized. Qualitative methods as well as quantitative methods are used to evaluate the outcomes of areas such as professionalism or ethics. An absolute criterion-based standard is usually applied to decide whether students pass or fail, but the decision should be based on gathering value judgments and reaching consensus. Active participation of faculty members and students in assessment is crucial.

When the sample size is small the robust minimum Hellinger distance (HD) estimator can have substantially poor relative efficiency at the true model. Similarly, approximating the exact null distributions of the ordinary Hellinger distance tests with the limiting chi-square distributions can be quite inappropriate in small samples. To overcome these problems Harris and Basu (1994) and Basu et at. (1996) recommended using a modified HD called penalized Hellinger distance (PHD). Lindsay (1994) and Basu et al. (1997) showed that another density based distance, namely the negative exponential disparity (NED), is a major competitor to the Hellinger distance in producing an asymptotically fully efficient and robust estimator. In this paper we investigate the small sample performance of the estimates and tests based on the NED and penalized NED (PNED). Our results indicate that, in the settings considered here, the NED, unlike the HD, produces estimators that perform very well in small samples and penalizing the NED does not help. However, in testing of hypotheses, the deviance test based on a PNED appears to achieve the best small-sample level compared to tests based on the NED, HD and PHD.

As flexible Bayesian test criteria for nested point null hypotheses of multiple regression coefficients, partial and overall Bayes factors are introduced under a class of intuitively meaningful prior. The criteria lead to a simple method for considering different prior beliefs on the subspaces that constitute a partition of the coefficient parameter space. A couple of tests are suggested based on the criteria. It is shown that they enable us to obtain pairwise comparisons of hypotheses of the partitioned subspaces. Through a Monte Carlo simulation, performance of the tests based on the criteria are compared with the usual Bayesian test (based on Bayes factor)in terms of their respective powers.

Background: The purpose of this clinical case report is to confirm sacroiliac joint misalignment effects on the gait. Methods: A healthy women volunteered to participate in this case report. Measurement of the subject was performed two categories. One is physical examination of the pelvic by inspection, palpation, movement based tests and pain provocation tests. The other one is gait performance measurement by 3 dimentional motion analysis. Results: Diagnosis by physical examination of the subject was Lt. ilium posterior rotation. Pelvic, hip, knee and ankle in the 3 dimensional kinematic data, the most notable result was the ankle. Conclusion: To confirm the effect of the misalignment of the sacroiliac joint on the gait function, it must be evaluated by integrating the movement to the ankle from the lumbar.

This paper presents the results of performance confirmation tests for domestic 20 [Ton] transmission suspension insulators which will be widely utilized in transmission lines. The new test methods such as power arc test, steep-front-of-wave flashover voltage test, and etc. which have been only utilized for the distribution insulators were applied in transmission suspension insulators. The properties of metal and cement used in the 20 [Ton] transmission insulators were also evaluated by the various analysis techniques. Based on the results, we evaluated the performance of the transmission suspension insulators.
Various injection materials, such as asphalt-based injection materials, urethane-based injection materials, cement- based injection materials, and acrylic-based injection materials, are used for the repair of aged conduits and underground structures with cracks. In this study, research was conducted on an environmentally friendly acrylic- based leak repair material that exhibits good curing properties even in humid conditions and stability in temperature fluctuations. To compare the performance of the improved acrylic leak repair material with the existing acrylate injection material, experiments were conducted using KS standard methods, including underwater length change rate tests, underwater leakage resistance tests, and chemical performance tests. The comparative experiments revealed that the improved acrylic leak repair material showed no changes in shrinkage due to humidity, temperature variations, or chemical reactions compared to the existing acrylate injection material. In the underwater resistance test, the improved acrylic leak repair material did not show any leakage. Additionally, to assess the environmental impact of the improved acrylic leak repair material, acute fish toxicity tests and acute oral toxicity tests were conducted, and the results showed no mortality and no specific concerns with the test specimens. The experimental results led to the conclusion that the improved acrylic leak repair material is considered to be superior in performance, environmentally safe, and harmless to the human body. Based on various experimental results, it is inferred that the improved acrylic leak repair material is suitable for use as a repair material for cracks in manholes and underground structures compared to the existing acrylate repair material. This study aims to propose valuable data for future technological development by evaluating the applicability of acrylic leak repair materials.

In interim analysis, group sequential tests are widely used for the ethical, scientific, and economic reasons. In this paper, we propose the group sequential tests using both type I and type II error spending rate functions when the response variable is discrete, especially binomial distribution, in the interim analysis. In addition, we propose new error spending rate function which covers the formerly proposed. Our method has good property that is flexible, fast and easily applicable. A numerical simulations are carried out to evaluate our method and it shows good performance.

In this paper we propose Wilcoxon test, Median test and Van der Waerden test such as linear rank tests in two-sample location problem for detecting edges effectively in noisy images. These methods are based on detecting image intensity changes between two pixel neighborhoods using an edge-height model to perform effectively on noisy images. The neighborhood size used here is small and its shape is varied adaptively according to edge orientations. We compare and analysis the performance of these statistical edge detectors on both natural images and synthetic images with and without noise.

Construction of retaining walls with geocell has been gaining in popularity because of its easy and fast installation compared to conventional methods. In this study, model tests were conducted by constructing the geocell retaining wall (GRW) at a constant height (i.e., 90 cm) and using aggregate as an infill material at four different configurations and two different surface angles. In these tests, a circular footing was placed behind the walls at different lateral distances from the wall surface and loaded monotonically. Subsequent to this vertical loading being applied to the footing, horizontal displacements on the GRW surface were measured at three different points. The performance of Type 4 GRW exceeded the other three types of GRW, with the highest lateral displacement occurring in Type 4 GRW at approximately 0.67 % of wall height. In addition, the results of these tests were compared with theoretical approaches widely accepted in the literature. The stress levels reached beneath the footing were found to be compatible with theoretical results.
