  • This paper presents the reconfigurable flight controller in the presence of jammed actuator fault using the adaptive sliding mode control scheme. It is developed under the assumption that the control surface fault cannot be detected and the positions of stuck control surfaces are unknown. It is well known that sliding mode controller shows good performance for the systems with various uncertainties. None-operating stuck actuator makes the system behave like bias which degrades the system performance and sometimes destabilizes the system.   • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) needs autonomous flight capability to accomplish various mission objectives. For this objective, the autopilot is a key element in the UAV system design. The principal goal of autopilot is to guide the aircraft under varying external disturbances throughout the mission phases. The external disturbances include gravity effect, wind gust, and other unexpected obstacles. The gust affects the aircraft flight performance to a significant extent. UAV's low speed, light weight, and the absence of human judgment makes un predictable gust more dangerous.   • The objective of this study is to develop a microcomputer-based adaptive controller for an electro hydraulic velocity control system subjected to the variation of system parameters. The step response performance of the system with the adaptive controller is investigated for the variation of the external load torque, the moment of inertia and the reference inputs, and compared with that obtained by PID controller whose gains are constant. The experimental results show that this proposed model reference adaptive controller is robust to the variation of system parameters and yield much better control performance compared with the conventionel PID controller.

  • In this paper we study the problem of three-dimensional layout optimization on the simplified rotating vessel of satellite. The layout optimization model with behavioral constraints is established and some effective and convenient conditions of performance optimization are presented. Moreover, we prove that the performance objective function is locally Lipschitz continuous and the results on the relations between the local optimal solution and the global optimal solution are derived.

  • A hydraulic gun/turret servo system requires fast and robust controller performance because of severe operating condition and precise target tracking objective. Digital controllers are able to satisfy this requirement due to high speed electronic device. The purpose of this study is to compare with pre-EPU with new-designed optimal, adaptive controllers by simulating nonlinear hydraulic simulation program. The designed digital controller shows good tracking performance and robustness to disturbance.

  • Squadron crew scheduling problems can be defined as the assignment of crews to flights consistent with safety regulations and squadron policy. In this paper, the daily crew scheduling problems are formulated as zero-one interger programs known as generalized assignment problems. The objective function is to maximize the weighted mission interval to improve the crew performance. Flight schedules using the 0-1 integer model are compared with manual schedules. The results of the study show that the average crew performance is improved.

  • Transient and static characteristics of HVDC inverter can be analyzed with various simulation tools. For the optimal filter design, various performance criteria are proposed. In this paper, performance index is calculated based on proposed per phase equivalent circuit. Voltage and harmonic and filter power loss are selected as criteria. Optimization procedure is performed to find optimal passive filter parameters. Dynamic characteristics is also analyzed with proposed equivalent circuit.

  • Fuel cell systems offer high energy efficiencies for transportation application. In addition, they can use alcohols and alternative fuels as the fuel, while producing little or no noxious emissions. Fuel cell-powered vehicles should be competitive in performance characteristics and in capital and maintenance costs with internal combustion engine vehicles. The objective of the present study is to design a fuelcell/battery powered vehicles to analyze technical feasibity.

  • The objective of this study is to provide improved methodology based on the IPA method. One case studies are solved by the proposed method. this study present the method that give value to use SN(Signal-to-Noise) ratio in IPA. A case study of lecture satisfaction are solved by the proposed method and the existing method. Also, the result is compared with the existing method using Mean and the proposed method using SN ratio.

  • URM buildings have been damaged seriously during earthquake since they were not designed to resist lateral loads. It has led to the importance of studying the behavior and capacity for URM building. The objective of this study is to evaluate seismic performance of URM (Unreinforced Masonry) building. For this purpose, this paper discuss the response of 2 story reduced-scale building subjected to earthquake motion and compare them using existing guidelines to provide improved knowledge for URM building.
