  • This paper analyzes mobile agent performance in network management compared to the client-server model used in the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Prototypes of an application that gathers MIB-II (Management Information Base-II) variables have been created and tested on a LAN. After acquiring implementation parameters related to network management and to the mobile agent infrastructure, simulation results have been obtained on large topologies similar in shape to the Internet. Response time results show that mobile agents perform better than SNMP when the number of managed elements ranges between two specific limits, an inferior bound and a superior one, determined by the number of messages that pass through a backbone and by the mobile agent size which grows along with MIB-II variables collected on network elements. The results also show that a significant improvement is achieved when the mobile agent returns or sends data to the management station after visiting a fixed number of nodes.

  • As the distributed resources in the networks have become increasingly popular, the accesses to these resources having been activated. Especially, the accesses to the distributed resources using the mobile agent technologies provide the mechanisms supporting mobility with mobile users as well as the dynamic accesses to the resources in the fixed networks. Proxy-based mobile agent model is defined as mobile agent network model which allocates the hierarchical domains to the distributed resources changed dynamically, assigns one proxy server for each domain, and promotes the management and the cooperation of the mobile agents. In this paper, we introduce the architecture and the execution scenario for proxy-based mobile agent model which is suitable for the hierarchical management domains. In simulation, we evaluate the proxy server's route optimization functionality and the performance reducing execution time of the mobile agents.

  • Accidents on offshore oil and gas platforms (OOGPs) usually cause serious fatalities and financial losses considering demanding environment platforms locate and complex topsides structure platforms own. Evacuation planning on platforms is usually challenging. The computational tool is a good choice to plan evacuation by emergency simulation. However, the complex structure of platforms and varied evacuation behaviors usually weaken the advantages of computational simulation. Therefore, this study developed a simulation model for OOGPs to evaluate different evacuation plans to improve evacuation performance by integrating building information modeling (BIM) and agent-based model (ABM). The developed model consists of four parts: evacuation model input, simulation environment modeling, agent definition, and simulation and comparison. Necessary platform information is extracted from BIM and then used to model simulation environment by integrating matrix model and network model. During agent definition, in addition to basic characteristics, environment sensing and dynamic escape path planning functions are also developed to improve simulation performance. An example OOGP BIM topsides with different emergent scenarios is used to illustrate the developed model. The results showed that the developed model can well simulate evacuation on OOGPs and improve evacuation performance. The developed model was also suggested to be applied to other industries such as the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

  • Viscosity agents were added to water to improve extinguishing performance of low pressure water mist suppression system on wood cribs fire, and a small scale wood cribs fire experiment was conducted to measure the extinguishing performance. CMC and agar were used for viscosity agent and as the amount of viscosity agent enlarges, it showed the increase of the viscosity of aqueous solution and the decrease of the fluidity. On wood cribs fire experiment, the extinguishing efficiency was improved with supplemental viscosity agent as it enhanced the adhesive time of aqueous solution on the wood, and therefore expanded the contact time of fire surface. The surface tension of aqueous solution was decreased with the addition of agar which to be assumed as an increase factor of extinguishing efficiency. By the extinguishing experimental result, the most effective extinguishing agent was CMC 0.6 wt.%, with the flame suppression time and the extinguishing time were reduced by 70s and 93s respectively at this concentration.

  • Steel fiber is a effective composite for crack resistance and improve structural performance under tensile loading. This study presents an evaluation of crack resistance and structural performance in cement mortar with steel fiber and expansion agent through internal chemical prestressing. For this work, cement mortar samples with 10% replacement of cement binder with CSA (Calcium-Sulfo-Aluminate) expansion agent and 1% volume ratio of steel fiber are prepared. Including basic mechanical properties, initial cracking load and fracture energy are evaluated in cement mortar beam with notch. Initial cracking load and fracture energy in cement mortar with CSA and steel fiber increase by 1.75 and 1.41~1.53 times compared with those in cement mortar with steel fiber. With optimum mix design for steel fiber and CSA expansive agent, the composite with chemical prestressing can be applied to various members and effectively improve crack resistance to external loading.

  • Real scale fire tests was carried out for extinguishing performance evaluation of the wetting agent. The experiment was conducted in accordance with a Class A fire extinguishing test methods specified in the 'Type Approval of the Manual System Fire Extinguisher and Technical Standards of Test'. In addition, the subjects of this experiment were the wood flour and rice husk. Fire-fighting water, the three kinds of wetting agents used in the country and this study was used, was undertaken to determine a clear discrimination of the water and wetting agent. In the experimental results, it was confirmed that the internal temperature is maintained long time in the case of water. The internal temperature were rapidly lowered in the experiment of wetting agents. Therefore, the discrimination of extinguishing ability was confirmed by the temperature distribution in accordance with time. Based on the results of this experiment, this study is expected to be used as a underlying material on presenting a method of optimized performance evaluation of wetting extinguishing agent.

  • The latest concrete has showed that the deterioration of durability has been increased by the damage from salt, carbonation, freezing & thawing and the others. Therefore, it is needed to protect durability and performance according to the appropriate materials and methods in the concrete structures. In general, several types of polymer and silicate are used as protecting deterioration agents of concrete structures, but these agents have many problems because of low durability and properties. In this study, It developed the deterioration restraining agent using polycondensed silicate and monomer that can block a deterioration cause such as CO2 gas, salt and water from the outside and enhance waterproofing ability by reinforcing the concrete surface when applying it to concrete structures. Also, it evaluated improving concrete performance using a deterioration restraining agent.

  • This paper investigates the application of multi-agent deep reinforcement learning in the fighting game Samurai Shodown using Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and Advantage Actor-Critic (A2C) algorithms. Initially, agents are trained separately for 200,000 timesteps using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) with LSTM networks. PPO demonstrates superior performance early on with stable policy updates, while A2C shows better adaptation and higher rewards over extended training periods, culminating in A2C outperforming PPO after 1,000,000 timesteps. These findings highlight PPO's effectiveness for short-term training and A2C's advantages in long-term learning scenarios, emphasizing the importance of algorithm selection based on training duration and task complexity. • Statistical process control (SPC) is a powerful technique for monitoring, managing, analysing and improving the process performance. However, its has limitations such as lack of engineering, statistical skill and training, and lesser importance of activity. To solve the problems, this study proposes an intelligent SPC system using specified agents which are derived through analysis and evaluation of the SPC activities. The activities investigated by the relevant researches are categorized as collection, process analysis, diagnosis, detection, cause analysis and rule generation. Also, the evaluation criteria are established as feasibility of automation, frequency, level and time. The requirements of the agent functions are derived by the evaluation, and the types of customized agents are as data collection, store, analysis, diagnosis, monitoring, alarm and reporting. A prototype SPC system represents that the functions of the proposed agents are successfully validated.
