  • Other countries(USA, Europe) have performed the fire resistance design of buildings by the alternative performance design methods, which are based on fire engineering theories. However, in Korea, the process on the alternative fire resistance performance design has only suggested without any applications for real steel structures. Therefore, In the case of steel structures stagnant research on refractory measures face difficulties in introducing fire resistance design. In this study, first of all, Intumescent paint was analyze the thermal properties(thermal conductivity, specific heat and density). In Sequence, using the section factor by H-standard section propose of section concrete filled steel tube and hollow. finally presents a reasonable thickness Intumescent paint takes time to target performance of the proposed cross-section steel tube.

수계 파이프 시스템의 내진설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Seismic Design for Water Exthinguishing Piping Systems)

  • 본 연구에서는 수계 시스템 중 스프링클러 헤드 파이프라인에 대한 내진설계를 수행하였다. 내진해석에 필요한 내진설계용 스펙트럼에 대응하는 인공지진 진동파형을 작성하고, 작성된 인공지진 진동에 대한 동적 응답스펙트럼을 해석하였다. 내진설계를 위한 공학적 기반을 구축하였으며, 수계 및 가스계 파이프 시스템의 내진설계 기법을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구의 결과로부터 수계 시스템의 파이프라인뿐만 아니라 소방시스템의 내진설계 및 성능평가에 응용할 수 있는 기틀을 마련하였다. 향후 진도규모 및 지반종류에 따른 추가적인 연구가 수행된다면 소방시스템의 신뢰성 향상과 안전성 제고, 성능위주설계가 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 본다.

  • Fire is very serious condition in steel based structures. Therefore, to enhance the structural stability of columns and beams in high temperatures, fire resistant steels and TMC fire resistant steels are developed from steel manufacturing companies. In this study to evaluate the structural stability and compare the resistant performance, a fire engineering design method was applied and fire resistant steels showed the better performance than other two materials.

전문가 설문조사를 통한 국내 성능위주설계 개선 방향설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Establishment of Performance-Based Design Direction through Analysis of Expert Survey)

  • In recent years, as the development of construction technology and population increase, buildings are becoming more complex and high-rise. These large scale buildings are difficult to secure fire and evacuation safety when fire occurs. So it is necessary to prepare specific measures. According to this situation, in 2011, Republic of Korea officially launched Performance-based Design in "Fire-fighting system Installation business Act". But even 6 years passed since the enforcement, there are still faces manifold problems in the course of implementation. In order to examine the necessary improvements, in this study, I conducted interviews and questionnaires with experts, investigated the improvement items under current laws. And draw up a measures for that items. The subjects of the survey were fire-fighting officer, professional engineer fire fighting, fire protection planner and professor in Daegu. As a result of twice surveys, a total of 19 items are derived. And then compared and analyzed the criteria of overseas countries, and suggested improvement directions for final items. In addition, conducted a third questionnaire survey on the proposed improvement direction to verify the appropriateness of the alternative. The results of this study will be used as basic data to deal with the general problems of performance-based design in future, and further study on each item will be needed.

UAE원전 화재방호계통 설계특성과 화재방호규제 개선 필요성 연구 (A Study on the Needs to Improve the Regulations and the Design Features of Fire Protection for UAE Nuclear Power Plants)

  • UAE(United Arab Emirates) 원전(원자력발전소)의 수출을 목적으로 UAE, 미국, 일본, 한국의 원전 화재방호규정을 상호 비교 검토하였다. UAE를 포함하여 미국, 일본의 원전 화재방호규정은 화재하중에 따른 화재위험도 분석결과에 따라 소화설비를 설치하도록 규정하고 있다. 반면, 우리나라는 소방관계법에서 원전을 발전시설로 구분하고 있으나, 원자력법에서는 원자로 및 관계시설로 분류하고 있고, 각 법률간 화재방호 설계기준도 상이하다. 앞으로 우리나라가 원전 수출국의 지위를 계속적인 유지하기 위해서는 화재 위험도분석의 결과가 설계에 반영될 수 있어야 한다. 결론으로, 국내 소방관계법이 원전의 특수성을 반영하기 위해서는 소방시설공사업법 시행령 제2조 2항의 성능위주설계를 해야 할 특정소방대상물에 원전이 추가되어야 함을 제안하였다.

기류순환이 연기농도와 감지기 작동에 미치는 영향 (Smoke Density and Operation of Fire Detector Influenced by Air Stream)

  • 성능위주의 화재감지설비 설계시 공조설비 또는 실내 온도조절장치에 의한 실내기류 순환으로 연기기류가 정상해석에 의한 연기분포, 연기농도가 형성되지 못하여 화재감지지연이 예상되는 것을 실험 및 분석을 통하여 성능위주의 예방설비 구현을 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 실험연구는 공조설비가 가동하고 있는 통신기계실의 화재시 화재감지기의 작동을 예측하고자 천장부의 연기농도분포를 측정·분석하는 실험을 수행하였으며, 그 결과 기류순환에 의해 기존 Passive Type의 화재감지장치는 감지불가 또는 감지지연이 예상되었으며, 조기화재감지를 위하여 방호공간의 공기를 강제로 흡입·분석하여 화재를 감지하는 Active Type의 Air Sampling Smoke Detection system의 적용이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

  • Much activity is occurring throughout the world with respect to the implementation of new concepts and technology for fire detection and fire suppression applications. Obvious advances include tangible detection and suppression improvements, and also new methods and approaches such as performance based codes and standards. Examples of tangible advances include addressable detection systems, wireless detection technology, halon alternatives, water mist systems, advanced sprinkler technology, and so on. Examples of new approaches and methods include a revitalized focus on disaster planning and the need for a total fire protection plan. The concept of performance based codes and standards for the design and installation fire detection and suppression systems will be explored in detail.

An experimental study on fire resistance of medical modular block

  • Fire performance and fire safety of high-rise buildings have become major concerns after the disasters of World Trade Center in the U.S. in 2001 and Windsor tower in Spain in 2005. Performance based design (PBD) approaches have been considered as a better method for fire resistance design of structures because it is capable of incorporating test results of most recent fire resistance technologies. However, there is a difficulty to evaluate fireproof performance of large structures, which have multiple structural members such as columns, slabs, and walls. The difficulty is mainly due to the limitation in the testing equipment, such as size of furnace that can be used to carry out fire tests with existing criteria like ISO 834, BS 476, and KS F 2257. In the present research, a large scale calorie meter (10 MW) was used to conduct three full scale fire tests on medical modular blocks. Average fire load of 13.99 $kg/m^2$ was used in the first test. In the second test, the weighting coefficient of 3.5 (the fire load of 50 $kg/m^2$) was used to simulate the worst fire scenario. The flashover of the medical modular block occurred at 62 minutes in the first test and 12 minutes in the second test. The heat resistance capacity of the external wall, the temperatures and deformations of the structural members satisfied the requirements of fire resistance performance of 90 minutes burning period. The total heat loads and the heat values for each test are calculated by theoretical equations. The duration of burning was predicted. The predicted results were compared with the test results, and they agree quite well.
