Purpose: This descriptive correlation study was done to identify how perception of patient safety culture of general hospital nurses affects safety during nursing activities. Data from this study should provide information on management of patient safety as well as improvement in patient safety. Method: Participants in this study were 357 clinical nurses working in a general hospital in M city which had two medical evaluations. A survey was conducted to gather the data. Results: The score for perception of patient safety culture of the general hospital nurses was 3.42, out of a possible 5 points, and the score for safety care activities was 3.90. There was a statistically significant positive relationship between the nurses' perception of patient safety culture and their safety care activities, Perception of patient safety culture, Supervisor/manager, communication and procedures, and frequency of accident reporting were factors that impacted significantly on safety nursing activity. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that patient safety cultural perception significantly affects the safety of nursing activities and thus systematic educational strategies to increase perception should be provided to increase the level of patient safety culture. Also, other specific methods that increase the level of patient safety culture should be considered.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' perception and behaviors in the case of a child safety accident. Methods: The participants were 254 parents of children under 12 years old. Data were collected from October 12 to November 25, 2016 using self-report questionnaire. Results: The mean score for parental perception and behaviors showed a high score of $3.12{\pm}0.30$. In addition, the top three categories were drug management ($3.45{\pm}0.54$), prevention of burns ($3.34{\pm}0.52$), and vehicle safety ($3.34{\pm}0.44$). The overall difference in categories of perception and behaviors about child safety accidents according to demographic characteristics of participants, was developmental age (F=5.616, p=.004). Most of the categories had significant correlation with other categories. Conclusion: Findings in this study show parental perception and behaviors were relatively high. It is recommended that safety education for parents should be done for a healthy life for their children.

Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data necessary to develop a program to improve infection control by examining nurses' perception of accreditation and by identifying its relationship with awareness and performance of infection control. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed using questionnaires. Data were collected from 210 nurses who were working at one hospital between May 14 and May 19, 2015. Data were analyzed using SPAW. Results: The mean score for nurses' perception of accreditation was 3.10 points out of 5 points. Score for awareness of infection control was $4.63{\pm}0.39$ points and for performance of infection control, $4.39{\pm}0.39$ points. There were significant positive correlation among perception of accreditation, awareness of infection control, and performance of infection control. In the regression analysis, performance of infection control was influenced by awareness of infection control which accounted for 42.6% of the variance. It also showed additional improvement of 1.4% of the variance by when perception of accreditation was added. Conclusion: The result of this study show that nurses' perception of accreditation is relatively positive and that performance of infection control is highly enhanced according to nurses' positive recognition of accreditation as well as attaching importance to accreditation.
Background: Consumption of tobacco in the form of a water pipe has recently increased, especially among young people. This study aimed to develop a scale which would be used in order to detect perceptions about the effects of water pipe smoking on health and to test its validity and reliability. Our scale named "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" was developed in order to detect factors effecting the perception of adolescents about the effects of water pipe smoking on health. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 150 voluntary students in scale development and 750 voluntary students in the study group. Data were collected via a questionnaire prepared by researchers themselves and 5-pont Likert scale for "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" which was prepared through the literature. Data evaluation was carried out on a computer with SPSS. Results: The findings of the study showed that "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" was valid and reliable. Total score average of the adolescents participated in the study was $58.5{\pm}1.25$. The mean score of the ones who did not smoke water pipe ($60.1{\pm}11.7$) was higher than the mean score of the ones who smoked water pipe ($51.6{\pm}13.8$), the difference being statistically significant. Conclusions: It is established that "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" was a reliable and valid measurement tool. It is also found out that individuals who smoked a water pipe had a lower level of perception of water pipe smoking effects on health than their counterparts who did not smoke a water pipe.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing health perception in the elderly, to provide the basic data for health behavior program and nursing intervention. The subjects of this study were 240 elderly person over the age 60, living in Seoul and Kangnung. They were conveniently sampled for this study and the data was collected from June 1999 to September 1999. The instruments for this study were the Health Perception Questionaire developed by Ware(1979), the OARS Functional Assessment Questionaire (Duke University 1978), and Multidimensional Health Locus of Control by Wallston, Wallston, and De Vills(1978). The data were analyzed by using SPSS Win computer Program. The results are as follows; 1. The total mean score of the health perception was 52.02(S.D=${\pm}$7.07) in a range of 33 to 69, and the mean score of the functional status was 27.02 (SD=${\pm}$2.75) in a range of zero to 28 and the mean score of the health locus of control was 65.66(S.D=${\pm}$8.68) in a range of 43 to 90. And The mean scores on the HLOC subscales were HLOC-I: 23.73${\pm}$4.56 (range: 6-30), HLOC-P: 23.07${\pm}$4.74 (range: 6-30), HLOC-C: 18.55${\pm}$4.03 (range: 11-30). 2. There was a significant positive correlation between health perception and functional status(r=.216, p=.001), and health perception and the health locus of control(HLOC) were not correlated at the level of statistical significance. However, the HLOC-I and health perception were correlated positively(r=.328, p=.000), and the HLOC-P were correlated negatively (r=-.129, p=.046). 3. There was a significant difference statistically in the degree of health perception according to the age(F=3.351, p=.002), spouse(t=2.232, p=.021), education level(F=7.373, p=.001), disease(t=3.639, p=.000), group activity (t=2.458, p=.015). drink(t=2.327, p=.021). 4. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of health perception was internal health locus of control. A combination of HOLC-I, functional status, HLOC-P, group activity explained 17.9% of the variance for health perception in the elderly. In conclusion, the results of this study show that internal health locus of control factor is very important in explaining the health perception for the elderly. Therefore, it will be considered internal health locus of control factor in nursing intervention and program in order to enforce the health behavior for elderly people .
Objectives: This study examined the Korean elderly's dietary intake status, subjective health-related perception and chronic disease prevalence among age groups. Associations of dietary quality with subjective health-related perception and chronic diseases were also examined. Methods: Based on data from the 7th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, a total of 3,231 elderly were selected and categorized into 4 age groups of '65 ~ 69', '70 ~ 74', '75 ~ 79' and 'over 80'. Nutrient intakes, proportions of those with insufficient nutrient intakes, Korean Healthy Eating Index (KHEI), some subjective health-related perceptions and prevalence of major chronic diseases were compared according to the age groups. Differences in the subjective health-related perceptions and odds ratios of the chronic diseases according to the quartile levels of KHEI within the same age group were analyzed. Results: With the increase of age, several nutrient intakes (P < 0.001) and KHEI scores significantly decreased (P < 0.01). In women, activity restriction increased (P < 0.05), and EQ-5D score decreased with age (P < 0.001). Prevalence of hypertension (P < 0.0001), hypercholesterolemia (P < 0.05) and anemia (P < 0.01) significantly increased, while hypertriglyceridemia (P < 0.01) significantly decreased only in men. Obesity prevalence decreased, while underweight prevalence increased (P < 0.05). Subjective health status, EQ-5D score and PHQ-9 score significantly improved as KHEI score increased in certain age groups of women (P < 0.05). Odds ratio of hypercholesterolemia significantly increased with the increase of KHEI score in 65 ~ 69-year-old women. However, hypertension and anemia significantly decreased with the increase of KHEI score in 75 ~ 79-year-old women (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The study findings suggest that nutrition management and policy for the Korean elderly need to apply a segmented age standard that can better reflect their dynamic characteristics.
The purposed of the study was to assess customer satisfaction concerning foodservice quality characteristics by using developed DINESERV model for university employee foodservices. Specially, it was intended to develop the tool which assesses the differences between customer importance and perceptions of customer with actual foodservice delivery by university employee foodservices. Questionnaires were distributed to 300 un9iversity employees. Total 230 university employees responded with a usable response rate of 67.7%. Statistical data analysis was completed using SAS programs for descriptive analysis and t-test. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Employees´first choice was distance when they select foodserveices. They answered their preference as the first factor when they order menu in the foodservices. The first complain factor concerning university foodservices was the taste of food. 2) Customers did not satisfied with the foodservice quality of university employee foodservices. Importance mean score of service quality was 3.81 out of 5 but percption mean score of service quality was 3.10. Importance mean score of food quality was 4.11 out of 5 but perception mean score of food quality was 2.96. 3) Customers´satisfaction of service quality by dimensions were as following order: assurance > reliability > responsiveness > empathy > tangibles. And customers´satisfaction of food quality by dimensions were as following order: nutrition > food > price > sanitation. There were no significant difference about customer satisfaction between contracted management and self-operated.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the perception and practice of the infection control by empowerment in the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 200 dental hygienists in Gyeongbuk from January 3 to February 20, 2013. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 program. The instrument of impowerment was adapted from Spreitzer and consisted of 12 questions including meaning(4 questions), competency(4 questions), self-decision(4 questions), and impact(4 questions). Impowerment was score by Likert 5 scale and higher score means higher impowerment. The instrument for hand washing recognition and practice was adapted from Kim and consisted of hand washing(5 questions), personal protective clothing management(5 questions), contaminated appliance management(3 questions), sterilization(3 questions), and infection control environment(8 questions). The empowerment instrument was score by Likert 5 scale and the mean was 3.83 points. Based on 3.83, infection control recognition and practice were divided into upper group and lower group. Cronbach alpha was 0.951 in empowerment, 0.931 in recognition, and 0.924 in practice in the study. Results: Based on the average points of 3.83, the groups were divided into two groups including upper group and lower group. The upper group showed higher score in hand washing than the lower group. In the protective clothing management, the upper group changed the mask at one-hour interval(p<0.001). Conclusions: In the viewpoint of empowerment, it had a significant influence on the perception and practice of the dental infection control in the dental hygienists.
Purpose: In this descriptive study, we aimed to identify factors influencing safe nursing activities of nurses working at public hospitals. Methods: We collected data in March 2021 through an online survey. The subjects were 199 nurses who had worked for at least six months at public hospitals. The self-reported questionnaire consisted of items pertaining to safe nursing activities, perception of patient safety culture, and the general characteristics of the subjects. To examine the differences in the safe nursing activities and perception of patient safety culture by general characteristics, we employed a t-test and ANOVA. We conducted a multiple linear regression analysis to explore the factors affecting safe nursing activities. Results: The mean score for safe nursing activity was 4.59±0.39. Perception of patient safety culture and age group were found to be the main factors affecting the safe nursing activities of nurses working at public hospitals (F=17.24, p<.001, Adj. R2=.40). When the score for perception of patient safety culture increased by 1 point, the score for safe nursing activities increased by 0.58 points. In addition, the score for safe nursing activity in the 40s age group was 0.16 points higher than for those in the 20s age group. Conclusion: Effective management and leadership in public hospitals is needed to improve the culture of patient safety at various levels so as to ensure safe nursing activities.

This stidy was carried out for purpose of investigating the degree of perception in the First clinical practice. The data of this study were collected by self-reported questionnaire composed of 5point rating scale measure the ideal level, satisfaction level and Stress level. For the analysis of the data, percentage, MANOVA, ANOVA and Scheffe test were 216 nursing students in 1 Junior College and 2 university in Taegu. Data was administrated from October 4 through 13, 1994 The results were as follow : 1. The average mean Score for the ideal level was 3.91 with a maximum possible score 5points. The highest mean score was infection controll 4.40 and the lowest mean score was comfort measure 3.44. The average mean score for the satisfaction level was 3.33 with a maximum possible score 5points. The highest mean score was Medication 3.54 and the lowest mean score was communication 3.01. The average mean score for stress level was 3.10 with a maximum possible score 5points. The highest mean score was spiritual and psychological care 3.45, the lowest mean score was Temperature controll 2.51. 2. In the analysis of the relationship between the ideal level, Satisfaction level and Stress level, no significant differance was found in college and university, religion, admission, satisfaction, health, economy, parent 3. In the analysis of the relationship between the ideal level, satisfaction level, stress level and general characteristics, significant difference was found in economicststus in the ideal level. Significant difference was found in economic status(upper class, middle class)in Scheffe test of the ideal level.
