  • The reactive Eulerian-Lagrangian code is utilized to simulate combustion of ZPP/THPP in a closed vessel. In the paper, ignition delay of THPP is mainly studied since ZPP and THPP are isolated by a boron nitride wall. Only a numerical case study is conducted as experimental observation is inaccessible. Results showed THPP ignition delay affects initial shock strength thus not only the first peak become weak, but also the frequency of a pressure oscillation is slowed.

  • In this study, the tensile properties of mono and hybrid fiber reinforced cement-based composite according to fiber blending ratio under the high strain rate was evaluated. Experimental results, the HSF1.5PVA0.5 shown the highest tensile strength because the PVA fiber suppressed the micro cracks in the matrix around the hooked steel fiber and improved the pull-out resistance of hooked steel fiber. Thus, DIF of strain capacity and fracture toughness of HSF1.5PVA were greatly improved. Also, the fracture toughness was greatly improved because the tensile stress was slowly decreased after the peak stress by improvement of the pull-out resistance of hooked steel fiber at strain rate 101/s.

  • In this paper, the fault line selection and location problems of single line-to-ground (SLG) fault in distribution network are addressed. Firstly, the adaptive filtering property for empirical mode decomposition is formulated. Then in view of the different characteristics showed by the intrinsic mode functions(IMF) under different fault inception angles obtained by empirical mode decomposition, the sign of peak value about the low-frequency IMF and the capacitance transient energy is chosen as the fault line selection criteria according to the different proportion occupied by the low-frequency components. Finally, the fault location is determined based upon the comparison result with adjacent fault passage indicators' (FPI) waveform on the strength of the interaction between the distribution terminal unit(DTU) and the FPI. Moreover, the logic nodes regarding to fault line selection and location are newly expanded according to IEC61850, which also provides reference to acquaint the DTU or FPI's function and monitoring. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed fault line selection and location methods.

  • In order to investigate the electrical properties of transformer oils for large power, the characteristics of AC and Impulse breakdown in gap length of 1.0~2.5mm and that of volume resistivity were researched in temperature range of 20~$100^{\circ}C$. An geometrical capacitance of electrode with coaxial cylindrical shape for measuring the volume resistivity was 16pF, and highmegohm meter with model no. VMG-1000 was used, and also the applied voltage were DC 100, 250 and 500V. In the dependance of breakdown characteristics due to electrode gap length, it was confirmed that breakdown voltage was nearly uniform by volume effect according to the increase of gap. In the characteristics for AC breakdown, the dielectric strength was increased to $90^{\circ}C$ but decreased over $90^{\circ}C$, and also in case of impulse breakdown, it was increased to 7$0^{\circ}C$ and at dated $70^{\circ}C$ over in temperature range. The calculated mobility of oils in the characteristics for impulse breakdown were about $10^{-5}$~$10^{-4}cm^2/V{\cdot}S$, and the value of volume resistivity was almost invariable in low temperature range, regardless of voltage by the stable thermal properties, and it indicated a peak at $50^{\circ}C$ and had a sudden change to decrease over that temperature, and also the value of volume resistivity in 250V/mm at $80^{\circ}C$ is suitable for the International electrical standards, it was confirmed.

  • Blast vibrations produced by emulsion explosives, controlled explosives and no vibration Kinecker through test blasting have been analyzed. Test area is mainly composed of andesite of which uniaxial compressive strength is $1,260kg/cm^2$. The empirical scaling formula from a logarithmic plot of peak particle velocity versus scaled distance have been determined and particle velocities with scaled distance have been evaluated for each explosive type. Vibration level of no vibracon KINECKER is lower than one of the controlled vibration blasting by about 30.71% and also lowers than one of the blasting of medium by about 50.94%.

  • Biodegradability of cotton/polyester blend fabric was investigated employing activated sluge test, soil burial test and enzyme hydrolysis. Surface changes of the degraded sample were observed through a microscopy. Changes in X-ray diffraction patterns and crystallinity were examined using X-ray diffractometer. Experimental results revealed that biodegradability of cotton/polyester blend fabric was proportional to the blending ratio of cotton, not showing any synergy effect. Polyester 100% hardly degraded in this study. Through the comparison of the experimental method it was shown that the biodegradabilities determined from activated sludge test and enzymatic hydrolysis except soil burial test were linearly related to the blending ratio of cotton in the blent fabrics. It is probably because the biodegradability determined from the retention of tensile strength of fabrics buried in soil was affected by the stress distribution of polyesters throughout the fabric. From the microscopic observations it was revealed that fungi were grown on the fabric surface and the colors turned yellow, brown and black. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the heights of crystalline peak coming from cotton part in blend fabrics decreased whereas those coming from polyester part increased comperatively as time passed by. Crystallinities of cotton 100% fabric increased slightly at the begining and then decreased continuously.

  • Poly(phenylene sulfide) films containing acetophenone as a photoinitiator were photocrosslinked under UV irradiation using a continuous UV irradiator. The gel fraction of the irradiated PPS in 1-Chloro naphthalene reached 94.7% with increasing UV energy and the photoinitiator concentration in the film upto $200J/cm^2$ and 12wt% respectively. Solid state $^1C$ NMR analysis suggested that the crosslinking occurred between the phenylene chains in PPS, indicating that the acetophenone may the phenylene hydrogens and subsequently adjacent polymer radicals could be recombined to form the crosslinked structure. The crosslinking improved the thermal behavior of PPS such as loss of $T_g$ and $T_c$, higher melting point and lower melting enthalphy as well as significantly higher peak pyrolysis temperature as much as $63.5^{\circ}C$. Surprisingly the tensile toughness of the most crosslinked PPS increased by 842%, resulting from the substantial enhancements in tensile modulus, strength and strain as much as 76%, 236% and 240% respectively. Also dynamic mechanical measurement indicated that the distance between crosslinks in the crosslinked PPS reached 85.3 g/mol corresponing to a crosslink density of 0.012 mol/g.

  • Human neutrophil elastase (HNElastase, EC 3.4.21.37), a causative factor of inflammatory diseases, was purified by Ultrogel AcA54 gel filtration and CM-Sephadex ion exchange chromatography. HNElastase was inhibited by phenylbutazone in a concentration dependent manner up to 0.4 mM, but as the concentration increased, the inhibitory effect gradually diminished. Binding of phenylbutazone to the human neutrophil elastase caused strong Raman shifts at 200, 440, and 1194 $cm^{-1}$. The peak at 1194 $cm^{-1}$ might be evidence of the presence $of\;-N=N-{\Phi}$ radical. The core area of the elastase, according to the visual molecular model of human neutrophil elastase, was structurally stable. A deeply situated active center was at the core area surrounded by hydrophobic amino acids. Directly neighboring the active site was one positively charged atom and two atoms carrying a negative charge, which enabled the enzyme and the drug to form a strong interaction. Phenylbutazone may form a binding, similar to a key & lock system to the atoms carrying opposite charges near the active site of the enzyme molecule. Furthermore, the hydrophobicity of the surrounding amino acid near the active site seemed to enhance the binding strength of phenylbutazone. Binding of phenylbutazone near the active site may cause masking of the active site, preventing the substrate from approaching the active site and inhibiting elastase activity.

  • In this paper, we implemented a polarimetric vibration sensor using a Sagnac birefringence interferometer composed of polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber(PM-PCF). By changing the amplitude and frequency of vibration applied to PM-PCF employed as the sensor head of the proposed sensor, sensor responses to various types of vibration were investigated. First, the vibration characteristic of the sensor was explored for a single frequency in a frequency range from 1 to 3000Hz with a cylindrical piezoelectric transducer, and then the sensor response to naturally damped vibration was examined by utilizing a metal cantilever. It was experimentally observed that the sensor output signal was deteriorated by more than 3dB at ~1900Hz in the single frequency vibration measurement with a minimum detectable strain perturbation of ${\sim}1.34n{\varepsilon}/Hz^{1/2}$ at 1500Hz and the peak value of the sensor output signal was proportional to the strength of initially applied stress in the naturally damped vibration measurement.
