High-Power-Factor Boost Rectifier with a Passive Lossless Snubber (무손실 수동스너버를 갖는 고역율 부스트 정류기)

  • A passive energy recovery snubber for high-power-factor boost rectifier, in which the main switch is implemented with a MOSFET, is described in terms of the equivalent circuits that are operational during turn-on and turn-off sequences. These equivalent circuits are analyzed so that the overshoot voltage across the main switch, the snubber current, and the turn-off transition time can be predicted analytically. From these results, the normalized overshoot voltage is reduced to 1 as $_W2T_on$ varies from zero to $\pi$/2, and then it is fIxed at 1 for $_W2T_on$> $\pi$/2. The peak snubber inductor current is directly proportional to the input current. The turn-offtransition time wltoffvaries from 0 to 2.57, depending on $_W2T_on$. The main switch combined with proposed snubber can be turned on with zero current and turned off at limited voltage stress. The high-power-factor boost rectifier with proposed snubber is implemented, and the experimental results are presented to confirm the validity of proposed snubber.

  • a current stress reduction technique for a boost integrated half-bridge (BIHB) DC/DC converter with voltage doubler type rectifier is proposed for digital car audio amplifier application. In the proposed circuit, two external capacitors are added parallel to the rectifier diodes in the secondary side of the transformer to shape the primary and the secondary current like rectangular waveforms in every switching instance. The experimental results of a 200W industrial sample show that the peak primary current decreases about by 10A. Thus, the proposed technique shows improved high efficiency.

  • A new quasi-resonant do link inverter is suggested, which can operate at the constant peak do link voltage irrespective of the magnitude of load current. The inverter is analyzed by using the topological analogy between the proposed inverter and the resonant DC/DC converter. Based on the analysis, an appropriate current controller is developed, which results in low current stress to the resonant capacitor and also enjoys the inherent capability of the current initialization of resonant inductor. For the purpose of confirming the inverter characteristics, some simulation results are presented.

  • 1934년 J. R. Winkler에 의해 처음으로 개발된 pulse current 도금은 연속적인 직류 단속을 이용한 전기도금으로써 종래의 연속적인 직류(direct current) 전기 도금이 가지는 다공성 및 거친 도금 등의 한계를 극복하기 위해 연구되고 있다. 최근 전기 전자 산업의 급속한 발달과 함께 Au, Pd, Rh 등의 귀금속 도금에 있어서 Pulse 도금은 광택, 다공도, 내부 응력, 불순물 및 수소 함유량의 감소와 같은 특성 향상을 가질 수 있으며 기존 DC 전기 도금의 문제점 해결책으로서 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 현재까지 Pulse 도금의 정확한 기구(mechanism)에 대한 명확한 정립이 되어 있지 않아 모든 도금계에 적용할 수 있는 standard pattern이 없는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 귀금속 도금 중 Ag pulse 도금에 있어서 Peak current density, duty cycle, time이 Ag 도금의 표면 형상, 두께, 열전도율에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다.

Effects of Grain Boundaries on Photovoltaic Current and Photoinduced Domain Switching in Ferroelectric Ceramics

  • We investigated the effect of the grain size on the photovoltaic current in (Pb$_{1-x}$La$_x$)TiO$_3$ceramics, and the photoinduced domain switching in (Pb$_{0.85}$La$_{0.15}$)TiO$_3$and BaTiO$_3$ceramics. These behaviors in ferroelectric ceramics were attributed to the grain boundary at which photoexcited electrons were trapped. As the charged grain boundary acted as an electro-potential barrier which impeded the movement of electrons, the photovoltaic current showed a peak at a critical grain size. The space charge field built by the electrons trapped at the grain bound-aries was accounted for the photoinduced domain switching, and AE experimental results support well this account.

  • This Paper describes a method for indirect sensing of the rotor position in switched reluctance motors(SRM's) using only current sensors. The detailed operation and simulation of this technique is shown. In particular, current waveform should have at least one peak and estimate the speed and rotor position by detecting position. The simulation result shows that the technique can gives the information of rotor position.

  • This paper proposes a novel sensorless maximum power point tracking (11PPT) algorithm for PV systems. The method is based on dividing the operating time into several intervals in which the PV terminals are short circuited in one interval and the calculated short-current of the PV is obtained and used to determine the optimum operating point where the maximum output power can be obtained. The proposed MPPT algorithm has been introduced into a current-controlled boost converter whose duty ratio is controlled to the maintain MPP condition. The same sequence is then repeated regularly capturing the PV maximum power. The main advantage of this method is eliminating the current sensor. Meanwhile, this MPPT algorithm reduces the power oscillations around the peak power point which occurs with perturbation and observation algorithms. In addition, the total cost will decrease by removing the current sensor from the PV side. Finally, simulation results confirm the accuracy of the proposed method.

  • Three different current-mode control schemes, peak current-mode control, charge control, and average current-mode control, are investigated for applications to asymmetrical half-bridge dc-to-dc converters. The principles, implementation, and performance of the three control schemes are compared in an attempt to identify the irrespective merits and limitations. Design examples for feedback compensations are given for the three control schemes. A 50 W experimental asymmetrical half-bridge dc-to-dc converter was used to experimentally verify the theoretical results of the paper.

  • This paper describes the efforts to develope a PC based parameter identification system for D.C servomotors. A new identification algorithm for the D.C. servomotor parameters is developed. The algorithm is implemented on 16 bit IBM-PC/XT using the C language. The whole identification process of signal generation, measuring and parameter determination is fully automated. To minimize the errors due to the ripple component in the measured armature currents, digital averaging filter is employed. The proposed parameter correction method using the deadzone current and the time to reach the peak current resulted in excellent agreement between the measured current and the current estimated using the model.

  • This paper estimates the capacity of shunt type active power filters(APF) for harmonic/reactive power compensation with a thyristor converter load. The base capacity requirement of APF is defined for idealized converter load current waveform and the effect of commutation overlap on the APF capacity is examined. The APF capacity required for reactive power compensation in addition to the harmonic elimination is estimated to give maximum achievable power factor for various operating condition of the partially-loaded thyristor converter. The method of current limit of APF is introduced, and it is shown that the APF capacity can be considerably reduced by deliberately limiting the peak current while maintaining the filtering performance to meet the level std 519 regulation.
