일부 목재의 연소 시 발생되는 연기의 위험성 평가 (Risk Assessment of Smoke Generated During Combustion for Some Wood)

  • 본 연구에서는 화재 시 연기안전 등급 평가를 표준화하기 위해 Chung's equations 1, 2와 3을 확장하여 Chung's equations-V인 연기성능지수-V와 연기성장지수-V를 산정하였다. 5종류의 목재를 선별하여 ISO 5660-1의 규격에 의한 콘칼로리미터(cone calorimeter)법으로 연기지수들을 측정하였다. Chung's equation-VI에 따라 연기위험성지수-VI에 의한 연기위험성을 등급화 하였다. 연기위험성지수-VI는 PMMA(1) ≈ 단풍나무(1.01) < 물푸레나무(1.57) < 전나무(4.98) < 오동나무(46.15) < 적삼목(106.26)의 순서로 증가하였다. 단풍나무, 물푸레나무의 연기위험성이 가장 낮고, 오동나무, 적삼목이 가장 높은 것으로 예측되었다. 시험편 5종의 일산화탄소 평균생성속도는 0.0009~0.0024 g/s으로 나타났으며, 이들 목재는 기준 물질인 polymethyl methacrylate보다 불완전연소 물질임을 나타내었다. 선정된 목재들의 연기특성은 체적밀도가 높을수록 연기성능지수-V (SPI-V)이 증가하였고, 연기위험성지수-VI (SRI-VI)가 감소하였다.

Acoustic Property and Hardness of Coatings for Musical Instruments with Various Coating Thicknesses

  • The relationship between acoustic property and coating hardness of musical instruments was investigated using a sound level meter and a pendulum hardness tester. Urethane topcoat, oil stain, natural oil varnish, and UV-curable epoxy acrylate coatings were applied on four different substrates: Paulownia coreana, Pinus koraiensis, Castanea crenata var. dulcis and Pinus densiflora. The influence of the coating type on the acoustic properties was stronger than that of the substrate. In the case of an oil stain formed with tacky coating layer, the sound pressure level (SPL) and surface hardness decreased with increasing of coating thickness. In the other coatings, SPL decreased and hardness increased as the coating layer thickened. However, SPL began to increase again at coating thickness above $100{\mu}m$.

Effect of Heat Treatment on the Bending Strength and Hardness of Wood

  • Heat treatment improves dimensional stability and sound absorption properties of wood. However, mechanical properties of wood can be deteriorated during the heat treatment. The effect of heat treatment on the bending strength and hardness of wood for Korean paulownia, Pinus densiflora, Lidiodendron tulipifera and Betula costata were measured. The heat treatment temperature has been investigated at $175^{\circ}C$ and $200^{\circ}C$, respectively. The results showed that the weight and density of wood decreased after heat treatment. It was found that the density by heat treatment was lower at $200^{\circ}C$ than that at $175^{\circ}C$. And, MOE increased with the reduced density. On the contrary, MOR and hardness decreased. In all conditions, It was found that there was a high correlation of 1% level between bending modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture.

광양제철소와 인근주변의 관속식물 현황과 분포 (Vascular Plants of Status and Distribution of the Site around and Kwangyang Manufacture)

  • The vascular plants of this site was listed 360 taxa; 86 families, 229 genera, 311 species, 42 varieties and 7 forms. Specific plant species by floral region were total 40 taxa; 2 taxa(Crypsinus hastatus, Prunus yedoensis) in class V, Patrinia rupestris in class IV, 6 taxa(Elymus mollis, Carex laticeps, Poncirus trifoliata, Melia azedarach var. japonica, Koelreuteria paniculata, Crepiastrum lanceolatum) in class III, Cirsium schantarense in class II, 30 taxa(Lygodium japonicum, Pteris multifida, Phacelurus latifolius, Asparagus cochinchinensis, Ficus erecta, Machilus thunbergii, Zanthoxylum planispinum, Euphorbia esula, Mallotus japonicus, Cayratia japonica, Camellia japonica, Glehnia littoralis, Lysimachia fortunei, Messerschmidia sibirica, Ixeris repens etc.) in class I. The naturalized plants in this site were 14 families, 34 genera, 41 species, 1 varieties, 42 taxa and naturalization rate was 20.3% of all 207 taxa vascular plants. Based on the list of the rare plants by the Forest Research Institute, 2 taxa were recorded in the studied areas; Phacelurus latifolius, Crypsinus hastatus and based on the list of Korean endemic plants, 7 taxa were recorded; Populus tomentiglandulosa, Filipendula glaberrima, Prunus yedoensis, Forsythia koreana, Paulownia coreana, Weigela subsessilis, Carpinus coreana. So, wild plants disturbing ecosystem like Solanum carolinense and Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior have been increasing, it needs continuing control and conservation measures on the plant ecosystem.

Comparison of the Mercury Intrusion Porosimerty, Capillary Flow Porometry and Gas Permeability of Eleven Species of Korean Wood

  • The typical methods of mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and capillary flow porometry (CFP) were used to evaluate the pore size of cross-section of wood and the effect of the pore structure on the permeability of wood was analyzed in this study. The results of this study were as followings: The pore size of wood measured by CFP was larger than that measured by MIP except for Lime tree, Korean red pine and Paulownia. Among the three pore types of porous materials defined by IUPAC (through pores, blind pores, and closed pores), only through pores are related to permit fluid flow. MIP measures the pore size of both through pores and blind pores, while CFP measures the pore size of only constricted through pores. Therefore, pore size measured by MIP was not related to gas permeability, however pore size measured by CFP had a proportional relationship with gas permeability.

순천박씨(順天朴氏) 시조묘출토(始祖墓出土) 복식(服飾) 보존처리(保存處理) (Conservation Treatment of the Textiles and Costumes Excavated from Soonchun Park's Tomb)

  • 본 논고는 충북 음성 소재 순천 박씨 시조묘에서 출토된 섬유류 유물의 보존처리에 관한 것이다. 조선시대 분묘에서 출토된 의복과 직물 등 섬유류 유물은 물에 흠뻑 젖어있었고 목관내에서 발생된 부패물질로 오염되어 심하게 악취가 풍기는 상태였다. 이들 유물을 증류수로 습식 세척하여 오염물을 제거한 후 실내에서 자연 건조하였고 이 과정에서 유물의 형태를 보정하였다. 손상부위는 얇은 견직물과 견사를 이용해 복원하였다. 처리를 마친 유물 중 의류는 오동나무로 만든 보관상자에 한 벌씩 수납하였으며 직물류는 지름 6 cm와 10 cm의 종이로 만든 원통에 감아 보관하였다. 이들 섬유류의 수납을 위한 방미처리(防黴處理)에는 티몰(thymol)을 사용하였다.

상원사목조문수동자좌상 복장 명주홑저고리의 보존처리 (The Preservation Treatment of Unlined Silk Jeogori Found at the Wooden Munsudongja Buddha Statue in the Sangwon Temple)

  • The significance of this study is the demonstration of a new method of preservation procedure for national-treasure-class cultural-assets by examining the characteristics of the Jeogori relic, presumed to be that of King SeJo, and validating the preservation process. This Jergori as well as the wooden Munsu-donja Buddha statue from which they were found are designated as national treasure. The Jeogori relic is made of light silk and dimensions mark 77 cm in length, 67 cm in width, and 94 cm in sleeve length. It is a typical Jeogori worn in the Chosun Dynasty. Preservation procedure was in the following order: Removing dust and pollutants by vacuum, washing, removing creases, reinforcing the clothes, settling at paulownia backboard, and packing. Storage and exhibition of remains was executed with as minimal folding as possible, and microbiological damage prevention was performed by dyeing antibacterial treatment with eugenol onto supporting cloth. The relic, conservatively treated in accordance with the above procedure, is currently kept at the storage facility of the citadel Museum in the Woljeong Temple. It is displayed annually to the general public for approximately two weeks.

국산 유용 수종의 오일열처리 연구 I - $200^{\circ}C$ 열처리 낙엽송과 오동나무 시편의 재색변화 - (Investigation on the Oil Heat Treatment of Domestic Utilization Species I - The Color Changes of Larch and Paulowniawood Specimens Treated at $200^{\circ}C$ -)

  • Among several thermal wood modification methods German oil heating technology was applied for color changing larch and paulowniawood specimens. They were heat treated at $200^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours in an autoclave filled with linseed oil. The CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ color indexes of the shells and cores of the oil heated specimens were measured. The color difference indexes between the oil heated and the control specimens of larch and paulowniawood were in the range of 6 and 12, which implies considerably different. The color difference indexes between the core layers of the larch and paulowniawood specimens were 4.3 and 1.7, respectively. It could be concluded that the specimens of the two species were color changed uniformly by oil heating.

여천공업단지 주변 토양의 알루미늄 함량에 따른 알루미늄 내성 수종의 식재 (Reforestition with Aluminum Tolerant Trees along Aluminum Content in Soil around Yeocheon Industrial Complex)

  • Selection of Al tolerant woody plants, and possibility of reforestation with the Al tolerant plants in soil conditions with different Al content, topography and slope exposures were studied on the slopes around Yeocheon Industrial Complex. Root growth in length of plants grown in 1/2 Steinberg solution decreased with increased Al concentrations of the solution. Relative root length showed that Paulownia coreana, Celtis sinensis and Firmiana simplex were sensitive to $500\muM$ Al, Pinus koraiensis, Alnus japonica and Ligustrum japonicum were intermediate, and Pinus rigida, P. densiflora and P. thunbergii were tolerant to $1, 000\muM$ Al. Coniferous plants appeared to be more tolerant to Al than deciduous ones. Soil pH was 4.2 and Al content was 509 ppm in average around the Yeocheon industrial complex. Al content and soil acidity were more deteriorated on the foothill and slope facing to the pollution source from the industrial complex than on the ridge and opposite slope.

논산 경제림 육성단지의 식물상 및 식생 연구 (Study on the Vegetation and Flora of Nonsan Economical Forest Growing Site)

  • The vascular plants of the studied area in Nonsan economical forest growing site appeared to be 341 taxa; 81 families, 218 genera, 290 species, 1 subspecies, 42 varieties and 9 forms. Based on the list of Korean endemic plants, 5 taxa existed; Cephalotaxus koreana, Thalictrum actaefolium, Asperula lasiantha, Populus tomentiglandulosa (Planted species), Paulownia coreana (Planted species). Specific plant species by floral region were total 13 taxa; Cirsium setidens in class III, Potentilla dickinsii in class II, Cephalotaxus koreana, Pinus koraiensis (Planted species), Hosta capitata, Juglans mandshurica, Alnus hirsuta, Quercus variabilis, Ulmus parvifolia, Dictamnus dasycarpus, Gwenia biloba var. parviflora, Vaccinium oldhami, Trigonotis icumae in class I. The naturalized plants in this site were 9 families, 19 genera, 20 species, 1 varieties, 21 taxa and naturalization rate was 6.1% of all 341 taxa vascular plants. The communities were classified into Quercus acutissima community, Pinus densiflora community, Quercus variabilis community, Platycarya strobilacea community, Quercus aliena community of natural forests and Pinus rigida community, Metasequoia glyptostroboides community, Larix leptolepis community of artificial forests.
