X-ray high-voltage generator is the most important part that can decide the radiation exposure dose affecting a patient or operator according to the characteristic. If decrease of X-ray radiation exposure dose and output characteristic of high-voltage generator is unstable, a patient or operator must be exposed to more radiation. This study measures and analyzes the exposure dose reproducibility and output characteristic according to a change of tube current on the various rectification methods of diagnostic X-ray equipment. It can find that quality bastardize and output is increased if voltage of X-ray tube is increased. Exposure dose reproducibility according to output of X-ray equipment is extremely excellent in inverter type, and is stable in order of following three-phase, a single-phase and condenser method. This study can find that the reply incidence of high-voltage generator is generated due to difference in rectification method, noise occurs in X-ray due to that, quality of an image is decreased due to that, and medical diagnosis can be failed due to that.
In this study, three dimensional X-ray dose distribution from dental X-ray generator system was measured by ALOKA PDM-117 dosimeter. The X-ray dose distribution will be change with XCP-DS FIT in oral shot, because the distance between X-ray generator and the dosimeter. The X-ray dose change affects on patient exposure and radiograph image quality. Therefore, it is important to obtain relation between the X-ray dose and the distance. The X-ray dose at the central position was decreased with increasing the distance. Furthermore, the dose at the edge of the X-ray flux was increased with increasing the distance. The increased dose affects on the patient radiation exposure. The present results will provide for good dental radiograph image and reducing radiation over-exposure on patient.
This study is fulfilled to evaluate the exposure dose nearby a patient during the brachytherapy of the prostate cancer treatment and to minimize the radiation exposure by evaluating the exposure dose of the person near the relevant implanted patient, technicians and gardians. The experiment method is used on the study is MCNPX that is stood on the basis monte-carlo method and implant the source to MIRD-type phantom in $^{192}Ir$, $^{125}I$, and $^{103}Pd$ in virtual space. For dose evaluations according to distance, the radiation dose on the patient near the corresponding implanted patient is evaluated by each distance of 30, 50, 100, 200 cm to anterior from the implanted patient. As a result, $^{192}Ir$ showed a higher dose than $^{125}I$ and $^{103}Pd$ in every distance.

At the investigations with 200 institutes for analysis of factor associated with radiographic conditions reduction of patient exposure dose during X-ray diagnosis, 170 institutes or $85\%$ answered. For estimation of exposure dose the entrance
Recently, general radiography became to variety because of the continuous development of Inverter type generator and ortho chromatic system. Therefore, we must re-evaluate about patient exposure dose and image quality. I studied about chest radiography which has frequency among general radiography being used during FEB. to AUG., 1994 over 151 medical facilities from medical facilities that are located in Seoul area. The result obtained were as follows ; 1) The rectification method of the generator were employing mainly single phase full wave in 82.8 %, three phase full wave in 11.26 % and Inverter type in 4.64 % and condenser type is 1.32 %. 2) Exposure kV was used below 80 kV in most medical facilities and 21.8 % of the medical facilities was using high tube voltage higher than 120 kV. 3) The exposure time was used below the 0.05 sec in 28.4 %, in 29.8 % of the medical facilities used above 0.1 sec. 4) The usage frequency of the added filter is 15.3 %, and among them compound filter was used only 4 %. 5) Rare earth screen was used in 37.7 %. 6) The average skin entrance dose was 0.25 mSv, the range of dose is $0.05{\sim}0.79\;mSv$ in each medical facilities. 7) The average density of the lung field is 1.76, 0.49 in lung side, 0.30 in mediastinum and 0.37 in heart shadow. Therefore it is required to improve all of these for increasing image quality and reducing patient exposure dose as soon as possible.
Kerma Area Product (KAP) is best indicator of radiation monitoring on radiographic examinations. KAP can be measured differently depending on the X-ray irradiation area, air kerma, souce-skin distance, type of equipment, etc. The major factors are exposure area and the air krema. The KAP currently used only considers the exposure area with X-rays and has a problem that KAP is always excessively overestimated from the dose received by an actual subject. Therefore, in this study, in order to measure the accurate KAP, a new area dose calculation that can be calculated by dividing the area where the actual X-ray is irradiated is presented, and the KAP is the real area. We compared and analyzed how much it was overestimated compared to the dose. The Skull AP projection and seven other projection were compared and analyzed, and the KAP was overestimated in each test by 52% to 60%. In this way, the effective KAP (EKAP) calculation developed through this study should be utilized to prevent extra calculation of the existing KAP, and only the accurate patient subject area should be calculated to derive the accurate area dose value. EKAP is helpful for control the patient's exposure dose more finely, and it is useful for the quality control of medical radiation exposure.
This study examined present conditions of upper-gastrointestinal X-ray fluoroscopy and patient skin dose. The authors elected 21 equipments to check the X-ray equipment and exposure factor of fluoroscopy & spot exposure in university hospitals, hospitals, and clinics where perform upper-gastrointestinal X-ray fluoroscopy more than five times every day in Incheon areas. The amount of patient's skin dose during upper-gastrointestinal X-ray fluoroscopy was measured by ionization chamber.
Digital imaging for general rediography has many advantages over the film/screen systems, including a wider dynamic range and the ability to manipulate the images produced. The wider range means that acceptable images may by acquired at a range of dose levels, and therefore repeat exposures can be reduced. Digital imaging can result in the over use of radiation, however, because there is a tendency can be reduced. Digital imaging can result in the over use of radiation, however, because there is a tendency for images to be acquired at too high a dose. We investigated the actual exposure dose conditions on general radiography and a questionnaire survey was conducted with radiotechnologiest at medical institutions using digital radiology system. As a results, the dose of exposure was not controlled with patient's figure and dose optimization but was controlled by worker's convenience and image quality. Radio-technologiests often set up the exposure dose regardless of patient figure and body part to be examined. Many organizations, such as the International Commission on Radiological Protection, recommend to keep the dose as low as possible. In addition, they strongly recommend to keep the optimal but minimal dosage by proper training programs and constant quality control, including frequent patient dose evaluations and education.
Objective: The objectives of this study were to measure pediatric organ and effective doses of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for orthodontic analysis and to compare them to those of panoramic and lateral cephalometric radiography, the conventional radiography for orthodontic analysis. Materials and Methods: Alphard VEGA for CBCT, Planmeca Proline XC for panoramic radiography and Orthophos CD for cephalometric radiography were used for this study. Thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) chips were located at 24 anatomic sites of 10-year-old anthropomorphic phantom and exposed during CBCT (C-mode; $200{\times}179mm$ FOV), panoramic and lateral cephalometric radiographic procedures at the clinical exposure settings for 10-year-old patient. Pediatric organ and effective doses were measured and calculated using ICRP 2007 tissue weighting factors. Results: Effective doses of CBCT, panoramic radiography and lateral cephlometric radiography in pediatric clinical exposure settings were $292.5{\mu}Sv$, $19.3{\mu}Sv$, and $4.4{\mu}Sv$ respectively. The thyroid gland contributed most significantly to the effective dose in all the radiographic procedures. Conclusion: Effective dose of CBCT was about 12 times to conventional radiographic procedures for orthodontic analysis in pediatric patient. The use of CBCT for orthodontic analysis should be fully justified over conventional radiography and dose optimization to decrease thyroid dose is needed in pediatric patients.
This study was conducted to reduce the exposure dose to the breast and adjacent organs as the number of Mammography increased. Therefore, it has been designed a shield in lead, bismuth + tungsten, and bismuth that does not require to be equipped by the patient, in which each type of shield was compared and analyzed of radiation exposure dose to breast, thyroid, and eye. Using a mammography machine, optically stimulated luminescent dosimeter(OSLD) was inserted to bilateral breast, thyroid, and eye of a dosimetry phantom to measure dose radiated onto the phantom. Shielding device was made in different thickness of 2mm, 3mm, and 5mm and dose evaluation was performed by measuring the dose while using lead, bismuth, and bismuth + tungsten prosthesis. When each shields combined with shielding device, were compared of dose, all showed similar does reduction in the dose to breast, thyroid, and eye in both cranialcaudal and mediolateraloblique view. Based on the current study, bismuth and bismuth + tungsten can replace conventional lead shield and it is anticipated to safely and conveniently reduce radiation exposure to breast, thyroid, and eye with the shield that does not require to be equipped.
