LEDs are considered to be an alternative for enhancement of energy efficiency, applied for numerous areas such as display, automotive headlight not only lights. Yellow phosphor is generally utilized with blue LEDs to generate WLED, $Y_3Al_{5}O_{12}:Ce^{3+}$ is typically used as the yellow phosphor. The phosphor, mixed with epoxy resin, has been used by being spread and hardened on the blue LED chip. This paste-based packaging gives rise to problems of degradation of phosphor by heat and decrease of luminous efficiency. Although phosphor plate is used instead of the epoxy-phosphor mixture to solve these problems, loss of luminous efficacy by total internal reflection inside the plate also should be solved. In this study, we coated the side of the plate with silver as one of the solution.
The stiffness properties of heterogeneous concrete materials and their degradation were investigated at different-levels of observations with aids of the opportunities and limitations of multi-resolution wavelet analysis. The successive Haw transformations lead to a recursive separation of the stiffness properties and the response into coarse-and fine-scale features. In the limit, this recursive process results in a homogenization parameter which is an average measure of stiffness and strain energy capacity at the coarse scale. The basic concept of multi-resolution analysis is illustrated with one and two-dimensional model problems of a two-phase particulate composite representative of the morphology of concrete materials. The computational studies include the meso-structural features of concrete in the form of a hi-material system of aggregate particles which are immersed in a hardened cement paste taking due to account of the mismatch of the two elastic constituents.

[ $WO_3$ ]powders were ball-milled with an alumina ball for 0-72 hours. $In_2O_3$ doped $WO_3$ was prepared by soaking ball-milled $WO_3$ in an $InCl_3$ solution. The mixed powder was annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in an air atmosphere. A paste for screen-printing the thick film was prepared by mixing the $WO_3$:In2O3 powders with ${\alpha}$-terpinol and glycerol. $In_2O_3$ doped $WO_3$ thick films were fabricated into a gas sensor by a screen-printing method on alumina substrates. The structural properties of the $WO_3$:$InO_3$ thick films were a monoclinic phase with a (002) dominant orientation. The particle size of the $WO_3$:$InO_3$ decreased with the ball-milling time. The sensing characteristics of the $In_2O_3$ doped $WO_3$ were investigated by measuring the electrical resistance of each sensor in the test-box. The highest sensitivity to 5 ppm $CH_4$ gas and 5 ppm $CH_3CH_2CH_3$ gas was observed in the ball-milled $WO_3$:$InO_3$ gas sensors at 48 hours. The response time of $WO_3$:$In_2O_3$ gas sensors was 7 seconds and recovery time was 9 seconds for the methane gas.
Air-cooled slag showed grindability approximately twice as good as that of water-cooled slag. While the studied water-cooled slag was composed of glass as constituent mineral, the air-cooled slag was mainly composed of melilite. It is assumed that the sulfur in air-cooled slag is mainly in the form of CaS, which is oxidized into $CaS_2O_3$ when in contact with air. $CaS_2O_3$, then, is released mainly as $S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ion when in contact with water. However, the sulfur in water-cooled slag functioned as a constituent of the glass structure, so the$S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ ion was not released even when in contact with water. When no chemical admixture was added, the blended cement of air-cooled slag showed higher fluidity and retention effect than those of the blended cement of the water-cooled slag. It seems that these discrepancies are caused by the initial hydration inhibition effect of cement by the $S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ ion of air-cooled slag. When a superplasticizer is added, the air-cooled slag used more superplasticizer than did the blast furnace slag for the same flow because the air-cooled slag had higher specific surface area due to the presence of micro-pores. Meanwhile, the blended cement of the air-cooled slag showed a greater fluidity retention effect than that of the blended cement of the water-cooled slag. This may be a combined effect of the increased use of superplasticizer and the presence of released $S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ ion; however, further, more detailed studies will need to be conducted.

Today, silicon and epoxy resin are used as materials of conversion lenses for white LEDs on the basis of their good bonding and transparency in LED packages. But these materials give rise to long-term performance problems such as reaction with water, yellowing transition, and shrinkage by heat. These problems are major factors underlying performance deterioration of LEDs. In this study, in order to address these problems, we fabricated a conversion lenses using glass, which has good chemical durability and is stable to heat. The fabricated conversion lenses were applied to a remote phosphor type. In this experiment, the conversion lens for white LED was coated on a glass substrate by a screen printing method using paste. The thickness of the coated conversion lens was controlled during 2 or 3 iterations of coating. The conversion lens fabricated under high heat treatment temperature and with a thin coating showed higher luminance efficiency and CCT closer to white light than fabricated lenses under low heat treatment temperature or a thick coating. The conversion lens with $32{\mu}m$ coating thickness showed the best optical properties: the measured values of the CCT, CRI, and luminance efficiency were 4468 K, 68, and 142.22 lm/w in 20 wt% glass frit, 80 wt% phosphor with sintering at $800^{\circ}C$.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in the study of treatment of $CO_2$ generated by industrial activities and resource recycling of industrial byproducts. The aim of this study is to investigate the applicability of industrial byproducts that can be used as concrete mixed materials by carbonation curing. For this purpose, the physical and chemical changes of the pastes with research cement(RC), blast furnace slag powder (GGBFS) and circulating fluidized bed combustion ashes (CFBC) were evaluated by carbonation curing. XRD and SEM analyzes were performed to investigate micro-structural changes. As a result, it was confirmed that calcium carbonate, which is a reaction product produced by carbonation curing, filled the space inside the paste and formed a dense micro-structure. Also, as the $CO_2$ curing time increased, it was confirmed that calcium carbonate crystals were grown together to form a dense micro-structure.

Thermal radiation pastes were prepared by dispersing carbon materials as fillers with a content of 1 weight percent in an acrylic resin. The kind of fillers was as follows; $25{\mu}m$ graphite, $45{\mu}m$ graphite, $15{\mu}m$ carbon nanotube(CNT), a 1:1 mixture of $25{\mu}m$ graphite and $15{\mu}m$ CNT, and a 1:1 mixture of $45{\mu}m$ graphite and $15{\mu}m$ CNT. Thermal emissivity was measured as 0.890 for the samples with graphite only, 0.893 for that with CNT only, and 0.892 for those containing both. After coating prepared pastes on a side of 0.4 mm thick aluminium plate and placing the plate over an opening of a box maintained at $92^{\circ}C$ with the coated side out, the temperatures on the uncoated side of the plates were measured. The samples containing graphite and CNT showed the lowest temperatures. The paste with mixed fillers was coated on the back side of the PCB of an LED module and thermal analysis was carried out using Thermal Transient Tester (T3ster) in a still air box. The thermal resistance of the module with coated PCB was measured as 14.34 K/W whereas that with uncoated PCB was 15.02 K/W. The structure function analysis of T3ster data revealed that the difference between junction and ambient temperatures was $13.8^{\circ}C$ for the coated case and $18.0^{\circ}C$ for the uncoated. From the infrared images of heated LED modules, the hottest-spot temperature of the module with coated PCB was lower than that of the uncoated one for a given period of LED operation.
We tested the limestone sludge produced in Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. as a filler powder for the effective use of portland cement. Hydration process was investigated by measuring the hydration rate, the amounts of non-evaporable water and compressive strength of cement-limestone sludge paste prepared by mixing limes-tone sludge with cement. The results obtained in this study can be summarized as follows: 1. There is no significant difference between the cases of adding up to 10% limestone sludge and those of unmixed cement system. However the reaction rate increases in the 5% limestone sludge system(due to the effects of fine). 2. The compressive strength increases proportionally with increasing the measured amount of non-evaporable water, Adding 5% limestone sludge also increases the strength a little higher, and the compressive strength and calcium silicate hydrates. In the case of the mixed limestone sludge, $2\theta$=$11.7^{\circ}$ peak appears in the samples of 28 days hydration. This peak indicted the presence of calcium carboaluminate hydrate. Although limestone sludge is generally regarded as a inert materials, some kinds of cement can produce a calcium carboaluminate by reacting with aluminate in cement pastes.
Objective: To assess shear bond strength and failure mode (Adhesive Remnant Index, ARI) of orthodontic brackets bonded to polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) blocks for computer-aided design/manufacture (CAD/CAM) fabrication of temporary restorations, following substrate chemical or mechanical treatment. Methods: Two types of PMMA blocks were tested: $CAD-Temp^{(R)}$ (VITA) and $Telio^{(R)}$ CAD (Ivoclar-Vivadent). The substrate was roughened with 320-grit sandpaper, simulating a fine-grit diamond bur. Two universal adhesives, Scotchbond Universal Adhesive (SU) and Assure Plus (AP), and a conventional adhesive, Transbond XT Primer (XTP; control), were used in combination with Transbond XT Paste to bond the brackets. Six experimental groups were formed: (1) $CAD-Temp^{(R)}/SU$; (2) $CAD-Temp^{(R)}/AP$; (3) $CAD-Temp^{(R)}/XTP$; (4) $Telio^{(R)}$ CAD/SU; (5) $Telio^{(R)}$ CAD/AP; (6) $Telio^{(R)}$ CAD/XTP. Shear bond strength and ARI were assessed. On 1 extra block for each PMMA-based material surfaces were roughened with 180-grit sandpaper, simulating a normal/medium-grit ($100{\mu}m$) diamond bur, and brackets were bonded. Shear bond strengths and ARI scores were compared with those of groups 3, 6. Results: On $CAD-Temp^{(R)}$ significantly higher bracket bond strengths than on $Telio^{(R)}$ CAD were recorded. With XTP significantly lower levels of adhesion were reached than using SU or AP. Roughening with a coarser bur resulted in a significant increase in adhesion. Conclusions: Bracket bonding to CAD/CAM PMMA can be promoted by grinding the substrate with a normal/medium-grit bur or by coating the intact surface with universal adhesives. With appropriate pretreatments, bracket adhesion to CAD/CAM PMMA temporary restorations can be enhanced to clinically satisfactory levels.

Aluminosilicate materials as precursors are heterogenous in nature, consisting of inert and partially reactive portion, and have varying proportions depending upon source materials. It is essential to assess the reactivity of precursor prior to synthesize geopolymers. Moreover, reactivity may act as decisive factor for setting molar concentration of NaOH, curing temperature and setting proportion of different precursors. In this experimental work, the reactivities of two precursors, low calcium (fly ash (FA)) and high calcium (ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS)), were assessed through the dissolution of aluminosilicate at (i) three molar concentrations (8, 12, and 16 M) of NaOH solution, (ii) 6 to 24 h dissolution time, and (iii) 20-100℃. Based on paratermeters influencing the reactivity, different proportions of ternary binders (two precursors and ordinary cement) were activated by the combined NaOH and Na2SiO3 solutions with two alkaline activators to precursor ratios, to synthesize the geopolymer. Reactivity results revealed that GGBS was 20-30% more reactive than FA at 20℃, at all three molar concentrations, but its reactivity decreased by 32-46% with increasing temperature due to the high calcium content. Setting time of geopolymer paste was reduced by adding GGBS due to its fast reactivity. Both GGBS and cement promoted the formation of all types of gels (i.e., C-S-H, C-A-S-H, and N-A-S-H). As a result, it was found that a specified mixing proportion could be used to improve the compressive strength over 30 MPa at both the ambient and hot curing conditions.
