In urban areas, blast excavation adjacent to tunnels is carried out frequently. It is generally required to secure static and dynamic stability of nearby tunnel structures for any such activities. Although there is some national guidelines for static safety, there is little guides to risk zoning controling the dynamic behavior of the underground structures. In this study, impacts on the blast-induced vibration are investigated using numerical study. An attempt to define the restricted area of blast adjacent to subway tunnels was also made. Particular concerns were given to tunnel depth and ground types. By carrying out the parametric study on depth and ground patterns, the envelope of blast distance of which dynamic response on the lining is controlled under 1 cm/sec, is established. It is shown that the increase in depth has increased the required safety distance slightly until the distance of 3.5 times of the tunnel diameter. Despite small changes in safety distance, it can be generally said that the effects of depth and stiffness of the ground is not significant in controlling the particle velocity of the tunnel linings.
The properties of soil are naturally highly variable and thus, to ensure proper safety and reliability, we need to test a large number of samples across the length and depth. In pile foundations, conducting field tests are highly expensive and the traditional empirical relations too have been proven to be poor in performance. The study proposes a state-of-art Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) hybridized Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS); and comparative analysis of metaheuristic models (ANN-PSO, ELM-PSO, ANFIS-PSO) for prediction of bearing capacity of pile foundation trained and tested on dataset of nearly 300 dynamic pile tests from the literature. A novel ensemble model of three hybrid models is constructed to combine and enhance the predictions of the individual models effectively. The authenticity of the dataset is confirmed using descriptive statistics, correlation matrix and sensitivity analysis. Ram weight and diameter of pile are found to be most influential input parameter. The comparative analysis reveals that ANFIS-PSO is the best performing model in testing phase (R2 = 0.85, RMSE = 0.01) while ELM-PSO performs best in training phase (R2 = 0.88, RMSE = 0.08); while the ensemble provided overall best performance based on the rank score. The performance of ANN-PSO is least satisfactory compared to the other two models. The findings were confirmed using Taylor diagram, error matrix and uncertainty analysis. Based on the results ELM-PSO and ANFIS-PSO is proposed to be used for the prediction of bearing capacity of piles and ensemble learning method of joining the outputs of individual models should be encouraged. The study possesses the potential to assist geotechnical engineers in the design phase of civil engineering projects.

A very widely used analytical method (mathematical model), mentioned in Eurocode 3, to examine the connections' bending behavior is the component-based method that has certain weak points shown in the plastic behavior part of the moment-rotation curves. In the component method available in Eurocode 3, for simplicity, the effect of strain hardening is omitted, and the bending behavior of the connection is modeled with the help of a two-line diagram. To make the component method more efficient and reliable, this research proposed its advanced version, wherein the plastic part of the diagram was developed beyond the guidelines of the mentioned Regulation, implemented to connect the end plate, and verified with the moment-rotation curves found from the laboratory model and the finite element method in ABAQUS. The findings indicated that the advanced component method (the method developed in this research) could predict the plastic part of the moment-rotation curve as well as the conventional component-based method in Eurocode 3. The comparison between the laboratory model and the outputs of the conventional and advanced component methods, as well as the outputs of the finite elements approach using ABAQUS, revealed a different percentage in the ultimate moment for bolt-extended end-plate connections. Specifically, the difference percentages were -31.56%, 2.46%, and 9.84%, respectively. Another aim of this research was to determine the optimal dimensions of the end plate joint to reduce costs without letting the mechanical constraints related to the bending moment and the resulting initial stiffness, are not compromised as well as the safety and integrity of the connection. In this research, the thickness and dimensions of the end plate and the location and diameter of the bolts were the design variables, which were optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Snake Optimization (SO), and Teaching Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) to minimization the connection cost of the end plate connection. According to the results, the TLBO method yielded better solutions than others, reducing the connection costs from 43.97 to 17.45€ (60.3%), which shows the method's proper efficiency.

Recently, MBT(Mechanical Biological Treatment) facilities were built up and operated to separate and recycle MSW(Municipal Solid Wastes)in South Korea. However, the size distribution of MSW is very rough, and it is causing operation problem because MSW would be crushed in undersize diameter by mechanical equipment before feeding each seperation process. Also, the organic material should be pre-seperated to reuse recycle material in MSW. In this research, the reactor of 1ton/batch using the super-heated steam was tested to present the separation efficiency and the size distribution of MSW by experimental factors.

This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of the dependent variables depending on the condition changes of independent variable of the operation and the material during the production of collets added with rice and dried shrimp by using single extruder to utilize as basic data for the manufacture of extrusion collets. A total of 7 independent variables were set up as a raw, 20, 40 and 60 mesh for the powder particle size of rice; 12, 14, 16 and 18% for the moisture content of rice; 2, 4, 6 and 8% for the addition amount of dried shrimp; 90, 95, 100 and $110^{\circ}C$ for the barrel temperature; 210, 280 and 340 rpm for the screw speed; 4, 6, 8 and 10 mm for the discharge port diameter; 30, 40, 50 and 60 kg/h for the input amount of the mixed material. The characteristics of the dependent variables including puffing ratio, moisture content, lightness, uniformity, productivity of collets was to be studied by changing the conditions of the independent variables. As a results of this study, 20 mesh of powder particle size of rice, 14% of moisture content of rice, 4% of addition amount of dried shrimp, $100^{\circ}C$ of barrel temperature, 280 rpm of screw speed, 6 mm of discharge port diameter and 50 kg/h of input amount of mixed material were found to be the most preferable over other independent variables for the production of extrusion collets. In conclusion, it is necessary to set the independent variable in order to produce the high quality collets added with the rice as the main raw material and dried shrimp as the sub-materials.
The characteristics of the reaction of calcium carbonate $(CaCO_3)$ immobilized with alginate as buffer system for the high concentration cultivation of bifidobacteria in fermenter are described by the mathematical model, and tested for the reusing possibility of the used $CaCO_3$ beads. When$CaCO_3$ beads with the various diameters were reacted in 0.1 M of the mixed organic acids (0.6 M of acetic acid and 0.4 M lactic acid) and in fermenter inoculated Bifidobacterium longum ATCC 15707, the change of bead diameters can be calculated with the amount of the decreased $CaCO_3$ from the surface of bead using the mathematical model. These values was similar to the directly measured bead diameter by a micrometer. Therefore, it was considered that the mathematical model could be used for explaining the reaction charateristics of the $CaCO_3$ bead reacted with the organic acids. When Bifidobacterium longum was incubated at $37^{\circ}C$ for 20 hours in fermenter with $CaCO_3$ beads, the buffering effect of $CaCO_3$, the reduce rate of the bead diameter, and the growth rate of Bifidobacterium longum were higher at the smaller beads than beads with the larger diameters. Also, when Bifidobacterium longum was incubated in fermenter with the mixed beads which were added new beads to the recovered beads in order to equalize with the total surface area of initial beads, the buffering effect of $CaCO_3$ bead and the growth rate of Bifidobacterium longum were very corresponded with the results of the fermentation using the only initial beads. Therfore, it is expected that the used beads can be reused by adding the initial beads.

In this study, TEOS was used as a silica source, and a triblock copolymer (P123) was used as a template to produce mesoporous silica with a well-ordered hexagonal mesopore array through a self-assembly method and hydrothermal process under acidic condition. (Surfactant-extracted SBA-15). Surfactant-extracted SBA-15 showed the particle shape of a short rod with a size of approximately 980 nm. The surface area and pore diameter were 730 m2g-1 and 70.8 Å, respectively. Meanwhile, aminosilane (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, APTES) was grafted into the mesopores using a post-synthesis method. Mesoporous silica (APTES-SBA-15) modified with aminosilane had a well-ordered pore structure (p6mm) and well-maintained the particle shape of short rods. The surface area and pore diameter of APTES-SBA-15 decreased to 350 m2g-1 and 60.7 Å, respectively. APTES-modified mesoporous silica was treated with a solution of rare earth metal ions (Eu3+, Tb3+) to synthesize a mesoporous silica material in which rare earth metal complexes were introduced into the mesopores. (Eu/APTES-SBA-15, Tb/APTES-SBA-15) These materials exhibited characteristic photoluminescence spectra by λex=250 nm. (5D4→7F5 (543.5 nm), 5D4→7F4 (583.5 nm), 5D4→7F3 (620.2 nm) transitions for Tb/APTES-SBA-15; 5D0→7F0 (577.7 nm), 5D0→7F1 (592.0 nm), 5D0→7F2 (614.9 nm), 5D0→7F3 (650.3 nm) and 5D0→7F4 (698.5 nm) transitions for Eu/APTES-SBA-15)
The extragalactic background suggests half the energy generated by stars was reprocessed into the infrared (IR) by dust. At z~1.3, 90% of star formation is obscured by dust. To fully understand the cosmic star formation history, it is critical to investigate infrared emission. AKARI has made deep mid-IR observation using its continuous 9-band filters in the NEP field ($5.4deg^2$), using ~10% of the entire pointed observations available throughout its lifetime. However, there remain 11,000 AKARI infrared sources undetected with the previous CFHT/Megacam imaging (r ~25.9ABmag). Redshift and IR luminosity of these sources are unknown. These sources may contribute significantly to the cosmic star-formation rate density (CSFRD). For example, if they all lie at 1< z <2, the CSFRD will be twice as high at the epoch. We are carrying out deep imaging of the NEP field in 5 broad bands (g, r, i, z, and y) using Hyper Suprime-Camera (HSC), which has 1.5 deg field of view in diameter on Subaru 8m telescope. This will provide photometric redshift information, and thereby IR luminosity for the previously-undetected 11,000 faint AKARI IR sources. Combined with AKARI's mid-IR AGN/SF diagnosis, and accurate midIR luminosity measurement, this will allow a complete census of cosmic star-formation/AGN accretion history obscured by dust.
Amorphous silica nanoparticles are among the most fundamental $SiO_2$ compounds, having implications in diverse geological processes and technological applications. Here, we explore structural details of amorphous silica nanoparticles with varying particle sizes (7 and 14 nm) using $^{29}Si$ and $^{1}H$ MAS NMR spectroscopy together with quantum chemical calculations to have better prospect for their size-dependent atomic structures. $^{29}Si$ MAS NMR spectra at 9.4 T resolve $Q^2,\;Q^3$ and $Q^4$ species at -93 ppm, -101 ppm, -110 ppm, respectively. The fractions of $Q^2,\;Q^3,\;O^4$ species are $7{\pm}1%,\;27{\pm}2%$, and $66{\pm}2%$ for 7 nm amorphous silica nanoparticles and $6{\pm}1%,\;21{\pm}2%$, and $73{\pm}2%$ for 14 nm amorphous silica nanoparticles. Whereas it has been suggested that $Q^2$ and $Q^3$ species exist on particles surfaces, the difference in $Q^{2}\;+\;Q^{3}$ fraction in both 7 and 14 nm particles is not significant, suggesting that $Q^2$ and $Q^3$ species could exist inside particles. $^{1}H$ MAS NMR spectra at 11.7 T shows diverse hydrogen environments, including physisorbed water, hydrogen bonded silanol, and non-hydrogen bonded silanol with varying hydrogen bond strength. The hydrogen contents in the 7nm silica nanoparticles (including water and hydroxyl groups) are about 3 times of that of 14 nm particles. The larger chemical shills for proton environments in the former suggest stronger hydrogen bond strength. The fractions of non-hydrogen bonded silanols in the 14 nm amorphous silica nanoparticles are larger than those in 7 nm amorphous silica nanoparticles. This observation suggests closer proximity among hydrogen atoms in the nanoparticles with smaller diameter. The current results with high-resolution solid-state NMR reveal previously unknown structural details in amorphous silica nanoparticles with particle size.
