황견에서 폐이식 수술후 이식된 폐의 병리소견 (Histologic Changes of the Transplanted Lung after Allotransplantation in Dogs)

  • We have performed left lung transplantations in 15 dogs for one year and six months from June, 1990 to December, 1991 at the Repartment of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Yonsei University College of medicine, Seoul, Korea. These dogs were sacrificed at from operative day to post-operative 15 days when their general conditions were deteriorated. The gross findings of the transplanted lungs were thrombi in left atrium in three cases, partial occlusion of pulmonary artery or pulmonary veins in three cases, hemorrhage at pulmonary arterial anastomotic site in one case and bronchial anastomotic stenosis in two cases, bronchial anastomotic rupture in one case % no abnormal gross findings in four cases. The microscopic findings of the transplanted lungs were hemorrhagic infarction in one case, perivascular hemorrhage or pulmonary edema in two cases, peribronchial inflammatory cell infiltration & pneumonia in three cases, and alveolar type rejection with infiltration of type II pneumocytes and septal thickening in 3 cases. And also there were no abnormal findings including rejection or inflammatory evidences in six cases. The one among these six dogs survived to 15 days without evidence of rejection or inflammatory reaction & died due to postoperative care accident.

  • In a visual driver-assistance system, separating moving objects from fixed objects are an important problem to maintain multiple hypothesis for the state. Color and edge-based tracker can often be "distracted" causing them to track the wrong object. Many researchers have dealt with this problem by using multiple features, as it is unlikely that all will be distracted at the same time. In this paper, we improve the accuracy and robustness of real-time tracking by combining a color histogram feature with a brightness of Optical Flow-based feature under a Sequential Monte Carlo framework. And it is also excepted from Tracking as time goes on, reducing density by Adaptive Particles Number in case of the fixed object. This new framework makes two main contributions. The one is about the prediction framework which separating moving objects from fixed objects and the other is about measurement framework to get a information from the visual data under a partial occlusion.

Tangible AR interaction based on fingertip touch using small-sized non-square markers

  • Although big-sized markers are good for accurate marker recognition and tracking, they are easily occluded by other objects and deteriorate natural visualization and level of immersion during user interaction in AR environments. In this paper, we propose an approach to exploiting the use of rectangular markers to support tangible AR interaction based on fingertip touch using small-sized markers. It basically adjusts the length, width, and interior area of rectangular markers to make them more suitably fit to longish objects like fingers. It also utilizes convex polygons to resolve the partial occlusion of a marker and properly enlarges the pattern area of a marker while adjusting its size without deteriorating the quality of marker detection. We obtained encouraging results from users that the approach can provide better natural visualization and higher level of immersion, and be accurate and tangible enough to support a pseudo feeling of touching virtual products with human hands or fingertips during design evaluation of digital handheld products.

소수 잔존 치근에 Locator Root Attachment를 활용한 상악 가철성 국소의치 증례 (Maxillary removable partial overdenture within Locator Root Attachment in a retained root: a case report)

  • 최종 수복물을 가철성 국소의치로 계획하였을 때 구강내 소수 잔존 치근을 유지하고 활용한다면, 기능적으로 좀더 나은 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 이번 증례는 소수 치아와 잔존 치근을 갖고 있는 환자에서 'Locator Root Attachment'를 활용하여 상악 가철성 피개의치로 최종 수복한 증례이다. 잔존 치근에 대한 정확한 임상적, 방사선학적 평가 후 어태치먼트를 적용하여 기능적으로 우수한 결과를 얻을 수 있었기에 이에 보고하고자 한다.

  • There are many kinds of maintenance care services for removable denture patient. Adjustment of the denture base and occlusion should be performed regularly not only for pain relief but also for maintaining the denture function. Direct and indirect relining are needed frequently in specific cases including mandibular distal extension case or non-symmetric residual teeth situation. Surface treatments for metal and resin are essential in the relining procedure. Clinical process for the denture repair is similar to indirect relining which needs inter-occlusal registration. Especially, the peridontal maintenance care and caries prevention are most important way to preserve the abutment teeth in partial edentulism. Moreover, the caring method for the denture and the tissue should be instructed to the denture patient.

  • In this paper, We propose reasoning system for object recognition and space classification using not only visual features but also contextual information. It is necessary to perceive object and classify space in real environments for mobile robot. especially vision based. Several visual features such as texture, SIFT. color are used for object recognition. Because of sensor uncertainty and object occlusion. there are many difficulties in vision-based perception. To show the validities of our reasoning system. experimental results will be illustrated. where object and space are inferred by bi -directional rules even with partial and uncertain information. And the system is combined with top-down and bottom-up approach.

  • A 49-year-old woman presented with right lumbar pain and edema in both legs. Computed tomography showed a large low attenuated mass around and in the S7 segment of the liver involving the right kidney and multiple enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. There were multiple variably sized discrete nodules in both lungs. Cavography showed subtotal occlusion of the inferior vena cava (IVC). She was successfully treated by wide resection and IVC reconstruction with partial cardiopulmonary bypass and metastasectomy.

  • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disorder characterized by recurrent cessation of breathing due to complete or partial upper airway occlusion during sleep. The incompetent tone of palatal, pharngeal, and glossal muscles which fail to maintain airway patency during sleep causes narrowing of the airway dimension and increased resistance of breathing. The identification of the sites of upper airway obstruction in patients with OSA is important in understanding the pathogenesis and deciding the treatment modality of snoring and/or OSA. Various upper airway imaging modalities have been used to assess upper airway size and precise localization of the sites of upper airway obstruction during sleep. Dynamic imaging modalities enabled assessment of dimensional changes in the upper airway during respiration and sleep. This article focused on reviews of various upper airway imaging modalities, especially dynamic upper airway imaging studies providing important information on the pathogenesis of OSA.

정상교합자와 I급 부정교합자에서 치아와 기저골의 관계에 대한 비교 분석 (COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BASAL BONE AND TEETH IN NORMAL OCCLUSION AND ANGLE'S CLASS I MALOCCLUSION)

  • 저자는 좋은 교합관계를 유지하기 위한 치아와 기저골과의 관계를 분석하기 위해 정상교합자와 Angle써 I급 부정교합자(비발치군, 발치군)의 경석고 모형상에서 최대치아근원심폭경, 기저악궁폭경 및 기저악궁장경을 계측하고 최대치아근원심폭경 합, 최대치아근원심폭경 합에 대한 기저악궁폭경 비, 최대치아근원심폭경 합에 대한 기저악궁장경 비 및 최대치아근원심폭경 합에 대한 기저악궁폭경과 기저악궁장경합의 비를 산출하여 통계학적으로 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 최대치아근원심폭경합에 대한 기저악궁폭경 비는 상악에서 정상교합군은 $46.9{\pm}2.6\%$, 비발치군은 $49.4{\pm}3.9\%$, 발치군은 $42.5{\pm}3.3\%$로 나타났으며, 하악에서 정상교합군은 $46.6{\pm}2.4\%$, 비발치군은 $47.5{\pm}4.0\%$, 발치군은 $42.6{\pm}2.6\%$로 나타났다. 2. 최대치아근원심폭경합에 대한 기저악궁장경 비는 상악에서 정상교합군은 $33.4{\pm}1.9\%$, 비발치군은 $33.9{\pm}1.8\%$, 발치군은 $28.7{\pm}2.5\%$로 타나났으며, 하악에사 정상교합군은 $34.4{\pm}4.3\%$, 비발치군은 $36.5{\pm}1.9\%$, 발치군은 $31.5{\pm}2.5\%$로 나타났다. 3. 최대치아근원심폭경합에 대한 기저악궁폭경과 기저악궁장경 합의 비는 상악에서 정상교합군은 $80.3{\pm}3.4\%$, 비발치군은 $83.3{\pm}4.8\%$, 발치군은 $71.2{\pm}4.3\%$로 나타났으며, 하악에서는 정상교합군은 $81.0{\pm}5.2\%$, 비발치군은 $84.0{\pm}5.4\%$, 발치군은 $74.1{\pm}4.1\%$로 나타났다. 4. 최대치아근원심폭경합에 대한 기저악궁폭경 비의 $95\%$ 신뢰구간은 상악에서 정상교합군은 $46.3-47.5\%$, 비발치군은 48.1-50.7, 발치군은 $41.7-43.3\%$로 나타났으며, 하악에서 정상교합군은 $46.1-47.2\%$, 비발치군은 $46.1-48.8\%$, 발치군은 $42.0-43.3\%$로 나타났다. 5. 최대치아근원심폭경합에 대한 기저악궁장경비의 $95\%$신뢰구간은 상악에서 정상교합군은 $32.9-33.8\%$, 비발치군은 $33.3-34.5\%$, 발치군은 $28.1-29.2\%$로 나타났으며, 하악에서 정상교합군은 $33.4-35.4\%$, 비발치군은 $35.8-37.2\%$, 발치군은 $30.9-32.1\%$로 나타났다. 6. 최대치아근원심폭경합에 대한 기저악궁폭경과 기저악궁장경 합의 비의 $95\%$신뢰구간은 상악에서 정상교합군은 $79.5-81.0\%$, 비발치군은 $81.6-84.9\%$, 발치군은 $70.1-72.2\%$로 나타났으며, 하악에서 정상교합군은 $79.8-82.2\%$, 비발치군은 $82.1-85.5\%$, 발치군은 $73.1-75.1\%$로 나타났다. 7. 최대치아근원심폭경합, 기저악궁폭경, 기저악궁장경, 최대치아근원심폭경 합에 대한 기저악궁폭경 비, 최대치아근원심폭경 합에 대한 기저악궁장경 비 및 최대치아근원심폭경 합에 대한 기저악궁폭경과 기저악궁장경 합의 비에서 발치군 남자의 기저악궁장경을 제외하고는 상하악간에 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Endovascular Treatment of Wide-Necked Intracranial Aneurysms Using Balloon-Assisted Technique with HyperForm Balloon

  • Objective : To assess the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of the balloon-assisted technique with HyperForm balloon in the endovascular treatment of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms. Methods : A total of 34 patients with 34 wide-necked intracranial aneurysms were treated with endovascular coil embolization using balloon-assisted technique with Hyperform balloon. Twenty-nine aneurysms (85.3%) were located in the anterior circulation. The group of patients was comprised of 16 men and 18 women, aged 33 to 72 years (mean : 60.6 years). The size of aneurysms was in the range of 2.0 to 22.0 mm (mean 5.5 mm) and one of neck was 2.0 to 11.9 mm (mean 3.8 mm). The dome to neck ratio was ranged from 0.83 to 1.43 (1.15). Sixteen patients were treated for unruptured aneurysms and the remaining 18 presented with a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Results : In the 34 aneurysms treated by the remodeling technique with HyperForm balloon, immediate angiographic results consisted of total occlusion in 31 cases (91.2%) and partial occlusion in three cases (8.8%). There were five procedure-related complications (14.7%), including two coil protrusions and three thromboembolisms; Except one patient, all were successfully resolved without permanent neurologic deficit. No new bleeding occurred during the follow-up. Twenty patients (59%) underwent angiographic follow-up from 2 to 33 months (mean 9.2 months) after treatment. Focal recanalization with coil compaction of the neck portion was observed in 5 cases (25%). Only one case showed major recanalization and underwent stent-assisted coil embolization. Conclusion : The balloon-assisted technique with Hyperform balloon is a feasible, safe, and effective endovascular treatment of wide-necked cerebral aneurysms.
