The literature on parent-child relationships in young adulthood lacks a systemic approach that considers the multifaceted nature of intergenerational relationships. In this paper, we identify the latent profiles of young Korean adults' relationships with their parents based on the six dimensions of intergenerational solidarity (structural, associational, affectual, consensual, functional, and normative solidarity) as indicators. We considered solidarity for the mother and the father separately for structural, associational, affectual, and consensual dimensions. In terms of functional and normative solidarity, we measured both upstream and downstream intergenerational support. The sample included 1,015 young adults who were 19-34 years old, never married, not in secondary school, and had both parents living. The latent profile analysis revealed four profiles: (a) independent but intimate (22.7%), (b) coresident, outwardly intimate (32.4%), (c) detached from father (6.7%), and (d) coresident, intimate (38.2%). The factors that predicted each profile included the young adults' education, income, subjective socioeconomic status, and experiencing the features of emerging adulthood along with the parents' marital status, father's employment, and overparenting. The "coresident, intimate" group reported significantly higher levels of life satisfaction and fewer depressive symptoms compared to the other three groups. The lowest levels of psychological adjustment were found in the "coresident, outwardly intimate" group and "detached from father" group.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude of housewives towards the elderly people. Three hundred and eighty-one housewives were selected, and a set of questionnaire was used to collect data. The Instrument for this study consisted of 20 item semantic differential format. The results are as follows: Housewives hold a slightly negative attitude towards the old. The main reasons for that were significantly different according to their educational level, religion, economic level, and marital satisfaction. By using a cluster analysis, the housewives could be divided into four groups. Among them, a group with positive attitudes towards the old had an experience living with parents. Based on the results of this study, it is revealed that the data on the attitudes of housewives towards the elderly will offer valuable information in developing education programs to change their negative attitudes.
The purpose of this study was to examine the role of children's characteristics, family environment and child care quality in socio-emotional development of children among dual-worker families. The sample consisted of 138 children aged 5-7 and their parents. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, correlation analysis, one-way ANOVAs, and stepwise regression were used to analyze data. Results showed that there were significant sex differences in children's temperament and popularity. Mother's marital satisfaction had a negative correlation with peer rejection. Low maternal role conflict and child's age had effects on children's self-perception. Moreover, sex and age of the child, mothers' responsive parenting, number of teachers in the classroom were significant predictors for children's peer rejection.
Purpose : To figure out the degree of leisure satisfaction of elderly's life. Method : A total of 1,015 persons were randomly selected from cities. This survey was performed by college students from July 1 through October 31, 2008. Results : 1. The level of health status of the subjects was $8.58{\pm}0.24$ of 15 points(57.2points of 100 points). 2. The average satisfaction degree of leisure was $2.92{\pm}39$(58.8points of 100). Of the study subjects, females, a group over 65-69, singles, the persons spending petty cash over 1.1 million won a month, the persons living with 3-4 family members and the subjects living with children had higher degree of satisfaction than other groups. 3. The factors affecting the degree of leisure satisfaction by regression analysis were age, gender, marital status, amount of petty cash, education level, the number of family members, utilization of social service agency, current health status. The influence level of those variables was 36.1%. Conclusion : It is very important to develop special activity program for their pleasant leisure time. The recreation and leisure program for the elderly should be implemented to provide by the authorities concerned. Children should be encouraged to live with their parents. The purpose of this study was to describe elementary school students' health communication needs based on school-based health fairs by students' demographic characteristics and school health education experiences. A self-administered survey was conducted to a total of 851 fifth-grade students in 8 elementary schools in Seoul. For survey participant sampling, Seoul area was divided into four districts: north, south, east, and west, and two elementary schools were selected from each district by the stratified convenient sampling process. Three class 5th-grade students in each selected school finished the survey. Questionnaires and survey instruction letters were delivered to vice-principals in the designated schools and the vice-principals managed the survey process. The survey Questionnaire included demographic characteristics (sex, parent's marital status, parents' educational status, famil financial status, the person whom was with after school, and daily computer hour), health education experiences (health education at school, and school health education satisfaction), and health communication types. The health communication types were reorganized into eight types based on comprehensive literature review on health fairs (or child and adolescence. The health communication types were 'health exam and advice fair,''health promotion advertising and campaign,' 'health-related exhibition and experience fair,' 'profession visit-in-school education,' 'health-related VCR or movie festival,' 'health-related institute visits,' 'internet health counseling,' and 'telephone health counseling.' Regarding demographic characteristics, sex, family financial status, and academic performance were significant factors related to health communication need scores (p <.05). Girl, high level of family financial status, and excellent academic performance score were related to high score of health communication need. In terms of school health education experience, taking regular class for health education and satisfaction with school health education were linked to higher health communication need scores. This result discusses that experience and satisfaction with school health education largely contribute to building participants' health communication concepts and needs.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate pediatric nurse parent partnership and factors associated with this partnership. Methods: A survey was conducted with 158 nurses working in pediatric practice at one of 7 hospitals in Seoul, Incheon, and Chungcheongbuk Province. Data were collected from September to December 2013, and analyzed with SPSS Windows 21.0. Results: In hierarchial multiple regression analysis, self-efficacy (${\beta}$=.19, p=.016), clinical decision making (${\beta}$=.15, p=.046), and empowerment (${\beta}$=.29, p=.001) were associated with pediatric nurse parent partnership, after adjusting for marital status, children, education, position and satisfaction with work unit. These factors accounted for 44.0% of the variance in the pediatric nurse parent relationship. Conclusion: These results suggest that pediatric nurse parent partnership could be influenced by the predictors. Ultimately, intervention programs focusing on these factors should be effective in helping pediatric nurses improve partnership with parents.
